What do people consider to be 'good taste in music'?

It means that the person offering the compliment likes the same kind of music as you.It could also mean that the music marketing machine has been successful in establishing a belief that their music product has a touch of class. It could also mean that the person offering this compliment is flirting with you, suggesting that you have something in common on which to pursue the possibility of a romantic relationship. If you’re enrolled in a Music Appreciation course, it might mean that the instructor appreciates your natural instincts for music. It could be a marketing form of insincere flattery, a manipulative suggestion where buying my product proves to yourself just how smart you are.As far as being any kind of objective measure of your musical intuition, it doesn’t mean a thing. In sincere cases, it probably means they like you. When given a such a compliment, my standard response is:“Thank you! How are you today?”Or some variation of that.

What does a scapular represent in Catholicism?

The scapular is traditionally a miniscule representation of the habit of the Carmelite order. It is intended to be a symbol, or a reminder, of one’s discipleship to Jesus Christ through devotion to his mother, the Blessed Virgin Mary:The Scapular of Mount Carmel is a reduced form of the religious habit of the Order of the Friars of the Blessed Virgin of Mount Carmel. Its use is very diffuse and often independent of the life and spirituality of the Carmelite family. The Scapular is an external sign of the filial relationship established between the Blessed Virgin Mary, Mother and Queen of Mount Carmel, and the faithful who entrust themselves totally to her protection, who have recourse to her maternal intercession, who are mindful of the primacy of the spiritual life and the need for prayer.(Directory on Popular Piety, n. 205, Directory on popular piety and the liturgy. Principles and guidelines)The scapular has many variations, but these all stem from the original brown scapular of Mt. Carmel. Pope Saint John Paul II actively encouraged its use:Over time this rich Marian heritage of Carmel has become, through the spread of the Holy Scapular devotion, a treasure for the whole Church. By its simplicity, its anthropological value and its relationship to Mary's role in regard to the Church and humanity, this devotion was so deeply and widely accepted by the People of God that it came to be expressed in the memorial of 16 July on the liturgical calendar of the universal Church. The sign of the Scapular points to an effective synthesis of Marian spirituality, which nourishes the devotion of believers and makes them sensitive to the Virgin Mother's loving presence in their lives. The Scapular is essentially a "habit". Those who receive it are associated more or less closely with the Order of Carmel and dedicate themselves to the service of Our Lady for the good of the whole Church (cf. "Formula of Enrolment in the Scapular", in the Rite of Blessing of and Enrolment in the Scapular, approved by the Congregation for Divine Worship and the Discipline of the Sacraments, 5 January 1996). Those who wear the Scapular are thus brought into the land of Carmel, so that they may "eat its fruits and its good things" (cf. Jer 2: 7), and experience the loving and motherly presence of Mary in their daily commitment to be clothed in Jesus Christ and to manifest him in their life for the good of the Church and the whole of humanity (cf. "Formula of Enrolment in the Scapular", cit.).Therefore two truths are evoked by the sign of the Scapular: on the one hand, the constant protection of the Blessed Virgin, not only on life's journey, but also at the moment of passing into the fullness of eternal glory; on the other, the awareness that devotion to her cannot be limited to prayers and tributes in her honour on certain occasions, but must become a "habit", that is, a permanent orientation of one's own Christian conduct, woven of prayer and interior life, through frequent reception of the sacraments and the concrete practice of the spiritual and corporal works of mercy. In this way the Scapular becomes a sign of the "covenant" and reciprocal communion between Mary and the faithful: indeed, it concretely translates the gift of his Mother, which Jesus gave on the Cross to John and, through him, to all of us, and the entrustment of the beloved Apostle and of us to her, who became our spiritual Mother.(Message of John Paul II to the Carmelite Family, March 25, 2001, Message to the Carmelite Order (March 26, 2001))

In close quarters combat (CQC), who receives the most lethal hand to hand combat training: SEALs, Delta, Green Beret, Rangers, Marine Force Recon or Air Force PJs?

SEALs will say that they receive the most lethal hand-to-hand combat training. Rangers, Green Berets, Recon, and Air Force Special Forces operatives will say the same. That's just the way these warriors are.The fact is, they're all right. What most people don't understand is that Special Forces operatives aren't all martial arts masters or experts, as Hollywood usually portrays them to be. Martial Artists put in multiple hours per month, per year, and per full program to make it to a first degree Dan level (Black Belt). Special Forces operatives usually have roughly 18 hours of required training in their basic training camps. Then they maybe have 36 hours in their various Special Forces Qualifying courses and training. 36 hours is the equivalent of maybe 12 days of training for a martial artist enrolled in Tae Kwon Do (Which I myself practice), Karate, Judo, Kung Fu, etc. A mere fraction of the time it takes to reach an advanced level in their art. However, what makes a Special Forces operative so lethal is that their training gets straight to the grind. They focus solely on the KISS (Keep It Simple Stupid) philosophy. Basic techniques for Close Quarters Combat. Basic movements and quick results lead to quick kills or quick take downs, which is what CQC is all about. Fast.SF operatives don't need to learn the many patterns, traditions, and techniques taught in a full martial arts program. The great thing about their training is that the required basics offer them all they need within the confines of their missions and they can continue to hone their skills off of the field on and around the bases they are stationed in. In that respect, it is up to the individual in the long run, as far as how lethal they are compared to another operative in another branch of Special Forces. The U.S. Army has their MAC (Modern Army Combatives) program, developed post 9/11. The Air Force practices a variation of it as well. The Marines have their MCMAP (Marine Corps Martial Arts Program), which also focuses on team work, warrior mentalities, and leadership aspects of combat. They have a belt system that is simply dictated by the amount of hours one has put in.Tan Belt - 27.5 hoursGray Belt - An additional 25 hours of trainingGreen Belt - An addition 25 hours of trainingBrown Belt - An addition 33 hours of training and upon completion, Brown belts can instruct lower belts.Black Belt - An addition 40 hours of training, followed by an additional chance of five degrees of back belt beyond that.So overall, Marines have perhaps the best overall specific program, but that doesn't necessarily dictate that they are the most lethal. Perhaps it could be instead quantified as the most thorough.SEALs and Delta have more mission specific training. You're looking at the elite. SEALs have gone through basic, through BUDs, and beyond. Delta is comprised of operatives from all branches of the military, so the experience is wealthy on that front as well.Despite the various programs of Special Forces branches, the real reason they are all the same in one way, shape, or form is that they are all taught roughly the same things to varying degrees.ALL SF operatives train in a few different martial arts, usually learning techniques that are mission type specific.JiujitsuJudoAikidoKrav MagaAll of these arts focus on swift and dangerously effective techniques. They are also the most representative of real world scenarios, with no disrespect to other fine arts.So I'm not sure that any one Spec Ops branch can be classified as the most lethal, at least as far as training goes. However, one could argue that a certain branch UTILIZES the training moreso than others, thus giving them the true real world experience. However, that is very difficult to quantify. The Air Force is likely at the bottom of the list, respectfully. Rangers, Green Berets, and Recon are often found moreso in battlefield situations or, at least in this day and age, working within the confines of their attachment's missions (clearing a village, infiltrating a city, etc.).SEALs and Delta, however, find themselves in more CQC overall. A lot of urban assault and infiltration missions, rescue missions, etc. SEALs especially, as they are the most called upon overall for such situations. CQC allows for more "opportunities" of possible hand-to-hand combat, even though such occurrences are few and far between compared to them clearing a room with the shock and awe factors off flash bangs and weaponry. So perhaps there is no true answer here. Perhaps SEALs have an edge in the discussion due to their implementation of the training, compared to most others?I'm not a former Special Forces operative sadly, so I can't speak with direct hands on expertise, however, I specialize in Special Forces subject writing in film and television, and have a lot of research experience because of that, as well as many great discussions with actual current or former Special Forces operatives. So that's where I'm coming from.Regardless of all said, our Special Forces operatives are truly the best of the best. They are warriors. And God Bless them all for what they do and sacrifice.
