PDF Editor FAQ

Why do people think blacks are still being mistreated? In my experience they can do as they please and people get out of their way very quickly.

Hello, Mr. or Ms. Anonymous, I'm so surprised you asked this question anonymously. This was a triumph of insightful, incisive interrogation. I'm being so sincere right now.In the US, Black people are far more likely to receive prison sentences for crimes than white people convicted of the same crimes under similar circumstances.Black people are less likely to be hired than equally qualified white people. Several studies have demonstrated this by taking word for word identical resumes, attaching a “black sounding” or “white sounding” name, and sending them to employers. Resumes with white-sounding names receive far more callbacks than identical resumes with black-sounding names.Same for apartment applications. Same for mortgage applications.Black people are far more likely to be shot by police for non-violent infractions. Police who shoot unarmed Black people are far less likely to face any consequences than police who shoot unarmed whites. If you look at the objective evidence, the points of data make a beautiful line squarely in the direction of systemic racism, though of course, it isn't racism that is of interest to those who ask questions such as this.

If C++ is faster than Java, how come Java is used in every enterprise application?

I don’t understand why this is an anonymous question, nevertheless, the answer is simple.Beginners obsess over speed, but businesses don’t.The question can be rephrased as:If x is faster than y, why do people use y?It’s because speed is rarely a concern when making software these days.Sometimes it is, like AAA games maybe, but generally, business don’t care about how fast software runs, so long as it runs in time.Say you’ve got a bank, and they’re processing a mortgage application. It takes 10 seconds, actually no, it takes 10 minutes. Or maybe it takes until the next day. Why would that matter? The bank says “It’ll be 10 minutes” or “We’ll have an answer for you tomorrow”.Speed matters far less in programming than beginners think it does.

If my next door neighbor sells their house & I buy it, can I then connect the two houses into one large house?

We almost did this. The house next door to ours was a bank foreclosure at a rather low price. Our lender said it we wanted to add that property to our mortgage application it would not be a problem. We were thinking of buying the house next door, demolishing it and building a studio or workshop connected to our house. What stopped us was the fact that along the fence line of the property is a county water pipe. The county reserves the right to dig anywhere that pipe is in order to repair or access it. Any structure built across that pipe would be subject to demolition at-will by the county.Hence why the house on that property is to the right of the fence and only grass and a gravel driveway is where the pipe is. The previous owner had an above-ground pool in the backyard over top of where the pipe is and were told if the pipe ever need work, the first thing the backhoe would do is swat aside the pool and they’d have no recourse. That is the only reason we didn’t buy the property. In hindsight we should have anyway as we could have made it work. There was no local or State law impeding us from buying the property and then using it as an oversized lot. Several of our neighbors have bought sections of other property to enlarge their own spaces. So unless local law says you can’t make such modifications to property you own, I see no reason you can’t buy the house next door, build a connecting tunnel and make it into one.
