PDF Editor FAQ

What is the biggest failure in modern education?

In America, I think the biggest failure in modern education is misplaced priorities. This takes many forms, such as:Lowering standards so that more students meet them, while not challenging more the students who were already meeting them.Spending a disproportionate amount of money, time, and effort trying to help students at the bottom end of the academic scale, while short-changing programs for students at the higher end of the academic scale.Reluctance to remove disruptive students from the classroom, because of a misplaced priority on making sure that student feels included, rather than prioritizing the other students’ ability to learn in peace.Spending school funds on non-academic things, like athletics or social services, while at the same time cutting funding for academic electives. And so on.Here’s a real-world example of what I’m talking about: In 2003, I worked as a one-on-one assistant for a severely disabled teenager at a local high school. The school paid me $36k annually to push this teen from class to class and take his notes for him. I was one of about two dozen one-on-one aides at the school. The teen I worked with was one of the few who was cognitively fine and verbal. He was just quadriplegic. Most of the other students with one-on-one aides were in much worse shape than he. Some of them were intentionally disruptive in class. According to the school’s psychologist, it was common for nonverbal students to find ways to disrupt their classes. It was a way of getting attention… any kind of attention, positive or negative.Besides the aides, the special ed department also had numerous teachers and therapists on staff, its own lawyer, and special rooms in the building that were build specifically for that handful of students. They also had “resource rooms” throughout the building, which functioned as both rest areas between classes for special education students, single-subject classes for them on occasion, and emergency intervention rooms for when one of the students with emotional/behavior disorders got out of hand. And all of those extra, expensive resources would all be great, in a world of infinite resources. But here in the real world, that school was cutting electives for regular education students. They also had no extra resources for advanced students. Imagine if the top 5% of students, academically, had equal resources as the bottom 5%. How much more could that top 5% have done with those resources?Imagine having “resource rooms” throughout the school for students who were reading above grade level, or getting straight-A’s in school. Imagine a teacher being able to tell the top 5% of students, “this lesson is beneath you and will likely bore you. You can go to the resource room and ask for something more challenging from the teacher there.”But the priority isn’t about helping the most students or challenging the most advanced students. The priority in many schools in America is:Not getting sued.Making the adults in the community happy.People love to see disabled kids being included in education, and the law requires it, so by God schools aren’t going to cut the special education budget. So where there’s a budget shortfall… and there usually is… the advanced students usually get short changed.

Do you think that Sharad Pawar has really outwited Modi Shah this time in Maharashtra?

Sharad Pawar has been in politics since before your imaginary God was selling imaginary tea at an imaginary railway station. The whole drama around government formation in Maharashtra turned out to be a fiasco for the BJP and has exposed to the people, it true colors. This can be seen from the following signs:1 Paid writers of the BJP are desperately trying to change the topic to other issues in a vain attempt to distract the rest of the population. You can see this on this website too. They are also trying to paint Fadnavis as an innocent victim to try and gain sympathy for him and trying to exaggerate the capabilities of Shaji.2 Many are questioning the ‘morality’ of this alliance. Well, if the BJP can form an alliance with the PDP in J&K, snatch the government formation from the single largest party in Goa, then this should also be fine.3 Black topi Governor Koshiyari also played second fiddle to the BJP. So did the President who withdrew the President’s rule at around 5:40 AM. Modiji used his special powers to unilaterally remove article 356 without cabinet consultation (he can do this strictly speaking). Within hours, the government of Fadnavis and Ajit Pawar was sworn in. BJP’s lust for power stands exposed. Caged dogs of the Central government (IT and ED departments) also played their part. Now, when the government has collapsed, Fadnavis is being shown as some kind of innocent victim. This is right out the playbook of the RSS - play the victim when you lose and bluster when you win.No one is buying it.4 Regional Sentiment also seems to have played a part. Modiji and Shaji were painted as outsiders (Gujaratis) trying to control Maharashtra.5 Comparison with Karnataka is not accurate. For those people who are holding their breath here thinking that the government here will collapse like it did there, I would ask you to release your breath and go about your life. In Karnataka the BJP needed single digit seats for majority. Here they need 40. Also, a significant number of their seats are from turncoat NCP MLAs (many others lost).6 The biggest loser here is Devendra Fadnavis. His career has been ruined beyond repair. Let us simply not pretend otherwise. He formed an alliance with a person whom he promised to lock up for the irrigation scam a month ago.He foolishly thought that the 54 NCP MLAs will simply follow Ajit Pawar, seriously underestimating the power and clout of Sharad Pawar.

Why did Dushyant Chautala make an alliance with the BJP after the Haryana Vidhan Sabha elections in 2019?

His father and grand father are in jail on charges of corruption. By supporting BJP he Hope's to get them released.BJP has accepted his terms like making him Dy CM. He can enjoy power. He or his partymen will not have any enquiry or harrassment from ED, CBI, IT departments.Forming government with Congress is risky. It may get toppled any time.
