Biden is responding to his leftist earpiece wanting to have total control over local zoning so people can be more and more concentrated in smaller and smaller areas that makes it much easier for the government to control. They will probably revise the Obama-era Affirmatively Furthering Fair Housing (AFFH) rule to make HUD funds, particularly from the Community Development Block Grant (CDBG) program, contingent on local zoning reform.The sacriest part is the control over suburban single-family zoning to destroy the suburbs. Think “Soylent Green”. His earpiece’s infrastructure plan is a farce, with only a small part being actual infrastructure. Here’s a breakdown:The $621B for transportation infrastructure makes sense, except for the $174B for electric vehicles and charging stations (we are energy independent with fossil fuels that, in the middle run cause no more pollution than electric vehicles will). In the $650B “Quality of Life” portion, the $213B to retrofit homes is not infrastructure; the $40B for public housing, $16B to plug oil wells, $27B for “Sustainability Accelerator”, $12B for community colleges, $25B for child care facilities, and $18B for VA hospitals are all not infrastructure. (I am not saying these are unimportant or shouldn’t be tackled, but they should be addressed separately rather than in some quasi omnibus fortuitously-title “infrastructure” bill). The $400B for elderly caregivers is not infrastructure. Again, it may be salutary, but should be addressed separately. When you look at the components of the $300B for Research, Development, and Manufacturing, it’s hard to find anything directly related to infrastructure. Some of the items are certainly worthy, but should be considered individually. Some are seemingly useless paybacks for political support.

There would also be complete expungement of all marijuana-related criminal records, including for dealing. The jobs created by this infrastructure bill would, by their nature, focus heavily on rural infrastructure development. Special focuses for investment would be:The construction of publicly-owned green-energy storage plants, such as molten-salt batteries and other thermal energy storage systems, so that we can continue moving further towards renewable electricity without worrying about loss of baseline power capacity. Funds would be disbursed as block grants to help willing cities, towns, and counties build, own, and operate their own electricity-storage facilities. Willing private owners of energy-storage facilities would not be included in the direct block-grants program, since the goal is to create a base of employment in our communities that cannot be taken away by the whim of private investors; however, it is expected that the market generated would facilitate private investment, and private entities could be included in some federal tax-breaks for new facilities.The general construction of renewable electricity generators, especially solar. Funds would be disbursed as block grants to help willing private and public owners build their own systems, with preference given to homeowners, small-businesses, and rural and minority communities, in areas that either already have, or are in the process of creating, publicly-owned green-energy-storage facilities.The construction of a next-generation power grid to make sure that electricity can be moved with as few losses as possible.The construction of a publicly-owned WIFI network, a publicly-owned information superhighway to provide data access to rural areas where internet access is currently out of financial reach.Restoration of bridges and dams to proactively avoid future versions of past disasters like the I-35 bridge collapse in the Twin Cities.
