What jobs in California hire at 14?

Information on Minors and EmploymentAlmost all minors under the age of 18 are subject to California's child labor protections. Under the California Labor Code, "minor" is defined as any person under the age of 18 years required to attend school under the provisions of the Education Code, and any person under age six. "Dropouts" are subject to California's compulsory education laws, and thus are subject to all state child labor law requirements. Emancipated minors, while subject to all California's child labor laws, may apply for a work permit without their parents' permission.Child Labor LawsThe Labor Commissioner's child labor law booklet contains comprehensive information about child labor laws, school attendance, wage, hour, and age requirements, restrictions, employer requirements and work permits. It also includes references and links to the state Labor Code, the Education Code and other relevant laws and regulations.A table summarizing child labor law requirements and restrictions categorized by age, and penalties for violating child labor laws is also posted for reference.Work PermitsExcept in limited circumstances defined in law and summarized in the Child Labor Law Booklet, all minors under 18 years of age employed in the state of California must have a permit to work.Prior to permitting a minor to work, employers must possess a valid Permit to Employ and Work. The Permit to Employ and Work are issued on the same form. A Permit to Employ and Work in industries other than entertainment is usually issued by an authorized person at the minor's school. During summer months or when school is not in session the work permit is obtained from the superintendent of the school district in which the minor resides.Typically, after an employer agrees to hire a minor, the minor obtains from his or her school a Department of Education form entitled "Statement of Intent to Employ Minor and Request for Work Permit". The form must be completed by the minor and the employer and signed by the minor's parent or guardian and the employer. After returning the completed and signed form to the school, school officials may issue the permit to employ and work.Permits issued during the school year expire five days after the opening of the next succeeding school year and must be renewed.Entertainment Work PermitsMinors aged 15 days to 18 years employed in the entertainment industry must have a permit to work, and employers must have a permit to employ, both permits being issued by the Labor Commissioner's Office. These permits are also required for minors making phonographic recordings or who are employed as advertising or photographic models. Permits are required even when the entertainment is noncommercial in nature.

Do you personally feel safer now that Trump will be our next president?

No, and the phrasing of this question is perplexing. Trump and Safety are two words that have not occurred during the campaign nor transition period to date.Let’s look at the areas where ‘safety’ may be compromised by a Trump administration:GlobalNATO - the stated intent to break with an international convention, the most inclusive and oldest (1949) agreement of 28 of the world’s countries.Paris Climate Accord of 2015 - the stated intent to end US participation in the most important agreement for the future of humankind and planet earth as a whole. Signatories are 128 countries that represent 80% of the world’s carbon emissions.Iran Nuclear Treaty of 2015 (JCPOA) - stated intent to withdraw the US.NAFTA and TPP - intent to withdraw from NAFTA if not renegotiated; not becoming a signatory to TPP.DomesticAnti- LGBTQACA (Obamacare) - the stated intent to repeal immediatelyMuslims - the stated intent to 1. Create a Registry, 2. Develop a Religious Test and 3. Deport and/or eliminate immigration of any Muslim to the US.Immigrants - the stated intent to deport 11 million“The Wall” - Unfortunately, Pink Floyd is not involved in this one. Rather it’s the building of a huge border wall with Mexico, and making Mexico pay for it.Freedom of the Press - direct actions of excluding press from the President-elect’s events; developing an Administration-based method of information release, including a leading Conspiracy Theory adviser (Bannon) and using Twitter/social media as a means of harassment of the public. Persecution of the press.Minorities, Women and Disabled - stated dismissal of the rights of these individuals and constant insult.GovernanceNo specific platform other than the nebulous “Make America Great Again.”Appointment as National Security Adviser of Michael T Flynn, US Army Lt. General and former head of the DIA from which he was asked to leave in 2012 for inability to work with others. Gen. Flynn is a known conspiracy-theorist.The National Security Adviser’s role is to build consensus among 17 different intelligence agencies and advise the President.Nomination of Exxon CEO Rex Tillerson for Secretary of State. Mr. Tillerson has worked for Exxon since 1978, has no public service or diplomacy experience, and has a deep relationship with Russia based on Exxon/Russian oil exploration agreements.Nomination of Besty Devos as Secretary of Education. Ms. Devos’s platform includes a voucher program for schools, with particular emphasis on Christian education not public education. She is not a teacher nor has she ever worked in public service or education.Numerous other nominees with zero experience to lead consequential agencies.Nomination of a total of 4 Generals from prior military service.######################################################Personal ReflectionAs an individual, a disabled senior citizen and woman, I feel directly threatened. I also feel that American Democracy is in grave danger. The world by extension is in danger. A kelptocracy is about to be born.So NO, I feel absolutely terrified that Trump and his minions are about to take over the most powerful country in the world with the richest of resources. Greed and avarice are about to become the ruling factors in decision-making. I would not be surprised if our world partners begin considering ejecting US from their pacts and treaties. With the world as a whole in mind, the Preamble to the Charter of the United Nations comes to mind:WE THE PEOPLES OF THE UNITED NATIONS DETERMINEDto save succeeding generations from the scourge of war, which twice in our lifetime has brought untold sorrow to mankind, andto reaffirm faith in fundamental human rights, in the dignity and worth of the human person, in the equal rights of men and women and of nations large and small, andto establish conditions under which justice and respect for the obligations arising from treaties and other sources of international law can be maintained, andto promote social progress and better standards of life in larger freedom,AND FOR THESE ENDSto practice tolerance and live together in peace with one another as good neighbours, andto unite our strength to maintain international peace and security, andto ensure, by the acceptance of principles and the institution of methods, that armed force shall not be used, save in the common interest, andto employ international machinery for the promotion of the economic and social advancement of all peoplesSo tell me: Which of these statements are key in Trump’s platform?I thought so…

Why won't some men just walk up to a woman like a real man and ask her out?

Here’s an experience I had, some might find it relatable. To provide some context to this story here are some details about the area I reside in. I live in Northern Virginia near D.C., live alone, have gainful employment, and I like to think I take decent care of myself.I frequent a grocery store near my place of residence that is on my way home from work. For a couple of months I kept encountering one lady in the isles browsing. Whenever we encountered each other we both would smile and continue on our separate ways. This is because I’m normally busy with other plans just stopping through to grab whatever is on my shopping list. One day we just seemed to keep running into each other while exploring the store during one particularly crowded day. Instead of rushing along like I typically did I decided to stop and engage in some conversation since we were a bit trapped waiting for the other customers to filter by. I figured since we had seen each other before she would be amenable. We looked at each other, then I introduced myself.“Hello, my name’s Nathaniel. The place is pretty busy today.”Her response:“I have a boyfriend.”To be honest I just stood there staring blankly at her, I was dumbfounded by the response as I was not expecting how curt it was. My intention wasn’t to proposition her for anything, just make idle chit chat while we waited for the isle to decongest.I retorted with a raise eyebrow “Excuse me?” with the intention of clarifying her statement since I was confused by the response. She looked at me, adopted a visage of annoyance to reply:“I said I have a boyfriend, so quit asking.”She said this loud enough to gain the attention of other nearby customers. Two of which were an older married couple. The man looked at me as if I had just stepped onto a landmine, his wife looked at me, and my conversation partner. She shook her head and said to her husband “That one’s getting thrown back into the ocean.” then she looked back at me and smiled. When the other customer’s finally dispersed we went our separate ways. Unfortunately we encountered each other again at the self check out area. Were she shot quite a few annoyed looks in my general direction. This is not an uncommon occurrence from my experience. For the longest time I would reflect upon such encounters trying to identify if I had done something wrong, or appeared to be unapproachable. However I have simply grown accustomed to women my age acting like this. The point of the story in relation to the question is that the married man’s expression of stepping on a land mind was completely accurate. Men approaching women within the current state of confused social dynamics is like wandering a minefield and hoping the best.Even if a man is only interested in striking up conversation there is the very real chance of something going horribly wrong for him. Now before someone rushes to the comments to declare not all women are like this, I know all women are not like this at all. From my perspective it’s a minority of bad apples actively screwing everyone else over with their poor dispositions. However I think it’s these bad apples that have the most significant impact particularly on younger men who are trying to explore. Such individuals are often much more vocal or overt than other women. Such individuals teach men that they should only expect conflict with women, and that any pursuit will be met with anger and shame. To those men that encounter such situations depicted above, don’t worry about it bud. Those women are not worth the time or effort. Look elsewhere and just talk to the ladies. Don’t focus on sex, just talk about stuff and see where it leads. Life is an adventure after all!Personally my approach to asking women out is to get to know them first, then just directly ask if they would like to do something like explore a new store, or some kind of group activity with friends. However I feel for younger men right now, because no matter which option they choose they will likely encounter quite a few women like the one mentioned above.Believe me when I say the above story is by far the least offensive experiences I have personally encountered. The story above is a minor hiccup compared to the more damaging experiences I have had. The point is, women have made it almost impossible to be approached. There is no set standard for courtship anymore, plus learning whatever it is one lady considers courtship compared to another one is like trying to date all of the Disney Princess’. A lot of women have wildly insane expectations of men, so much so that it isn’t men putting them on the pedestal, it’s men trying to figure out how to climb the tower to see what’s on the pedestal to begin with.To the ladies reading this, I hope you understand my answer is not intended to paint women in a poor light. However I do suggest taking a more active role in engaging with men. I say this because wandering that mind field is a harrowing experience for men, just look how MGTOW has grown over the years. Therefore ladies why not flip the coin and do the chasing for a change? It’s perfectly normal to be awkward, silly, even a bit stupid at times. I’m sure plenty of ladies can rehash stories about how some guy was interested in them and couldn’t get a word straight because he was so nervous.Let’s treat each other with equal worth, and maybe, just maybe give love a chance.
