One difference from other times when Trump has been sued: the old money in PB runs deep. Given what we know about Trump's debt and likely inability to pay it off when due, these folks cannot be stalled or outspent.Trump's presence at MaL creates major problems. The traffic re-routing and resulting delays are hell for locals. Many of the small businesses close to the property lose incredible amounts of income when streets are blocked off. There's a small flight school that cannot operate at all before and during Trump's visits.No one is in the mood to put up with any more of this impact on their lives and livelihoods. The mayor is a smart, take-no-guff Black professional. Also a Democrat though the position is non-partisan. Locals have long memories and some have law degrees and lots of money.If Trump decides to push it, the outcome could take awhile to settle. Or, it could go away quickly, because locals will not be shy about their displeasure, even apart from any lawsuits. Will Trump quietly retreat to save face? Maybe. And since MaL is licensed as a club, the city has several things it can do to push back. For example, the liquor license could be yanked, or the power could be turned off.So, bottom line … when Trump Trump finally is out of the White House, on or before noon on 1/20/21, on his own or with law enforcement “assistance,” I suspect he will show up at MaL for at least an initial stay. Then, depending on where and when his anticipated legal troubles head, and the status of law suits from the city of PB and neighbors to MaL … Trump will have some decisions to make.Bottom bottom line: He will not be able to run a “shadow presidency" from south Florida. Mar-a-Lago has lost its luster for big charitable events; the property became “toxic" according to those who cancelled bookings. Revenue has surely taken a big hit, and this is just about the time the property needs an exemption from statute on hiring seasonal labor from questionable sources, tho CV likely has diminished what’s needed.Eventually, no matter how outrageous his behavior, I expect the media coverage to gradually fade away except for periodic updates on the NYC and NYS charges. He will lose Air Force 1 and there are many reports that his personal plane is in storage with an engine removed. Life going forward for Donald is not going to be nearly as pleasant as he may have once thought, especially at Mar-a-Lago, Palm Beach, Florida.(I've been living about 75 minutes north of Mar-a-Lago going on 16 years. I escaped from Florida for 20 years prior, after growing up, going to college, and starting my career in Miami, Tallahassee, and Orlando, respectively. As a kid in the late 50s, 60s and early 70s, Miami was a nice place to live. My dad was a native and parked cars as a kid for University of Miami Orange Bowl home games. I never shared my dad's love for the state, though. Not only do I want to get out of Florida once and for all, i truly hate living here … for more reasons than anyone cares to hear.)
