Is an autopsy required in Pennsylvania?

It depends on what you mean “required.” I work in Pennsylvania as an Autopsy Technician and not all bodies get autopsied. It’s first important to understand the different types of autopsies. There are clinical autopsies (done at a hospital as requested by family, typically when there is a doctor willing to sign the death certificate and there are no concerns of suspicious circumstances surrounding the passing) and forensic autopsies (done at either a medical examiners or coroners office for the purpose of determining both cause and manor of death, which is more often done when there isn’t a doctor willing to sign the death certificate, or if the death is unexpected, suspicious, criminal, or untimely).Within forensic autopsies there are different types. There is an external exam which is done with the forensic pathologist doing an external exam of the decedent and usually toxicology is drawn (urine, blood, and vitreous) and submitted for testing. These external exams are done when the cause and manor of death is known but done in order to ensure that nothing looks suspicious. There is also a full examination in which the doctor does the external exam then proceeds to do an internal exam which includes opening the body in order to examine each of the organs. Typically if a body is ordered into the medical examiner or coroners office, this is the type of exam that would be expected to be done.In our office, and I’m sure others in the state, there is such thing as an autopsy waiver form that family’s can fill out in an effort to avoid their loved one having an autopsy.Autopsies are only required when the death is suspicious, untimely, criminal, or unexpected, but with the addition of a waiver form, exams can potentially be changed from a full exam to only an external exam. If the death is natural, there is a doctor willing to sign the death certificate, and all parties are satisfied with the cause and manor, there will not be an autopsy performed unless asked for by the family.

The USA is the only country without public healthcare. Democrats want it, Republicans don’t. Does this means the Republicans are the American Taliban?

“The USA is the only country without public healthcare. Democrats want it, Republicans don’t. Does this means the Republicans are the American Taliban?”Caveat: I am not a Republican or a Democrat, so technically you didn’t call me a Taliban, but I’m going to downvote your question as a violation of BNBR anyway since it came close.I am currently covered by public health “care.” I put care in quotes because there’s a longstanding maxim that having insurance is not the same as actually being able to use the insurance. For example, cheap accidental death insurance often refuses to pay citing laundry lists of exclusions. This exact scenario has happened to my extended family twice in the past 4 years, both times requiring us to fund private autopsies to prove that the death was indeed accidental. In the case of health insurance, I have been dealing with a medical condition that is slowly destroying every joint from my lower back down, including knees, hips, etc. I ended up spending 3.5 years fighting the system to get a waiver request all the way through the Defense Health Agency for a $1,200 surgery. I will likely be a burden on the taxpayer for the rest of my life specifically because of the refusal to pay for a small surgery.A similar thing happened for my boss’ child who had a neuroblastoma of the spine that grew 4 inches in 2 months. Tricare required him to find his own research showing efficacy before they would pay for the treatment. He ended up putting $50,000 on his own credit cards to fund 1 month of chemotherapy.Due to my experiences, I don’t think that giving control of a medical system to an organization with a long track record of failure in areas where they have even more ability to effect change is a winning answer, and I don’t think that makes me a member of the Taliban, especially since I spent the better part of 2010 at Camp Leatherneck fighting those guys…

Why did Dems warm to Biden’s bunker strategy?

Former VP Biden cares about the health and lives of his family and the American people. He is doing what health and science experts recommend, by hosting virtual events. Joe Biden is not anti health and science. He knows better than to have rallies now, that will end up as super spreader events of COVID-19. The former Vice President has real experience dealing with both Ebola and H1N1 health crises.Former VP Joe Biden is manly enough to wear a mask, as it does not hurt his vanity. Joe Biden respects the fact that preventing spread of COVID-19, by taking recommended steps, will save lives, and be more helpful for the economy. The alternative is more deaths, astronomical surges in cases, and small businesses ending up having to shut down again. Joe Biden is not in a bunker. He was broadcasting from his basement, and has been out in public for some events, including Memorial Day.Former VP Joe Biden is listening, and has surrounded himself with health and science experts. He deserves our respect. The American people are more important than Joe Biden's ego. He is secure enough to know that he does not have to expose tens of thousands of Americans to the possibility of catching coronavirus, just to have a Democratic National Convention. All the partisan hacks that are preaching against health and science know deep down, that they will be sacrificing their health, and potentially the health of their families. Look up the autopsies of people that have died from COVID-19. Pretty horrible. So, I have to disagree with your wording “bunker strategy.” Former VP Joe Biden has been out and about in politics for over 40 years. He was #2 to President Obama's presidency for eight years.Joe Biden is hiding from nobody. He is a moderate Democrat that can unify our country, and help us to re-establish pandemic response teams at the ready. Joe Biden is no slouch, no coward, and no bunker boy. Strength does not have to be loud and boisterous, but wise and steady. He is wise enough not to feed Americans a liability waiver, in order to have more rallies. I trust Joe Biden's experience and competence to run the nation, and to continue protecting the health and lives of Americans. Joe Biden is a role model. No antics needed. He is ready to usher in to repair and heal our nation.Joe Biden is fit. He ran up the ramp at Westpoint previously, like a champion. Go Joe go! Many of us Americans respect Joe, and we will line up for him. Joe cares. Joe advocated the healing of our nation, at his rally I attended in February 2020. On the contrary, former Vice President is ready to battle COVID-19, and to fight to heal our nation in all ways. Americans know what we are getting: integrity, competence, and real leadership in Joe Biden. Tried and true, ready to help Americans, Joe Biden is the right man.
