PDF Editor FAQ

What are the differences among primary school, middle school, secondary school, and senior secondary school?

Primary school in India is from class 1–5Middle school is till 8thSecondary is till 10thand senior secondary is till 12

I did 5 years in high school in the U.K. in the 70s, but other people I know only did 4 in the 80s. Did something weird happen with school years in the 80s?

Thanks for the A2A, Neil.I suspect that this probably has a lot to do with terminology, and with ages of transfer between schools. In the 1970s, transferring from primary school to secondary school was almost always at the age of 11 in most of the UK (let's call it the UK, even though we know we don't really mean Scotland, because it does things its own way). The official minimum School Leaving Age was 15 at the beginning of the 1970s, but rose to 16 in the mid-70s, so that now everyone did at least 5 years in secondary school. That school might be called a secondary modern, a grammar school, a high school or a comprehensive school; any of these except the first could be non-selective, and any of them except the last could be selective, which is horribly confusing if you weren't British and in the UK at that time. I don't know which of these you went to, which doesn't help. After 1976, and after that fifth year in secondary school (not yet called Year 11; that happened in the 1980s), you could stay on in the sixth form if your school had one, or go to a sixth form college; in Hampshire, these began in about 1973. But by the end of the 1970s, lots of areas were experimenting with new age groupings, with break points all over the place. Some counties had First Schools from 5-7, Middle Schools from 8-12, and then High Schools either from 13-18, or Junior High Schools (13-16) and Senior High Schools, which were basically sixth form colleges; others had High Schools that covered the ages 14-18. Southampton had transfer from Middle Schools at the end of Year 7, so that its secondaries had Years 8-11, but was surrounded by Hampshire schools which had transfer at the end of Year 6, and secondaries had Years 7-11. And then on to sixth form college after GCSEs, at the end of Year 11, regardless of whether you were in Hampshire or Southampton (which of course is inside Hampshire anyway, but ignore that fact). So to come back to your Question, I don't think the number of years people spent at school went down. It's mainly that in some places, the number of years spent in a place classed as a secondary school went down, because the number of years spent at a primary school, or in a Middle School, had gone up. But the minimum School Leaving Age was the same, no matter what the school was called.Does this explain it? I do hope so!

The practice of grading began in Germany as early as the 16th century and thence spread worldwide.Primary school - WikipediaA primary school (or elementary school in American English and often in Canadian English) is a school in which children receive primary or elementary education from the age of about five to twelve, coming after preschool and before secondary school. A very easy site to navigate As a new user to online programs and helps, you really are top notch. Having a live reply on the chat is so important. People are so busy with families, jobs, and just living their lives. Nothing is as difficult in doing our management of life and necessities, is not getting responses, or worse yet, getting a recording from abroad, which cannot easily be understood for a hard of hearing person such as me. So thank you, I am using the CocoDoc to help out in my community. There are persons who really cannot afford legal help for their essential legal papers. Since the papers are notarized at their local bank, I am slowly convincing my friends, neighbors, and church family that I can help them with no fee. Also, recently, my husband myself signed on with Celebrate Life America, as total body donors upon or demise. I was free to make these things known in my paperwork, and my husband will do the same. On another note yet, One of my kids got into a bind financially due to some lost time with the severe flu, and i lent them a few grand to catch up with the mortgage before it went to foreclosure. So as I got the cashiers check from the bank, i started to think. Hmmm I wonder if there is a form for this in CocoDoc. There was, and i typed up a promissory note, we took it to my bank, got it signed by us three, and then my banker notarized it. I haven't looked at all that is available, but at this time, you deserve more than five star ratings, lets say seven. Merry Christmas to your staff, and may your New Year be nothing less than blessed.
