Not so much. I recall only one project in which I used robust regression. Robust summary statistics (medians for example) and robust smoothing is used a lot more but mostly for exploratory analysis. Boxplots are quite popular in medical research but, again, for exploratory purposes. It's rare that people use robust statistics for decision support and causal inference. It's common to see conference presentations about new robust metjods but not so common to see them used on practice, other than for making graphics and for sample descriptions. And for descriptive statistics.Machine learning people also use them mostly for descriptive tools like Centering Around Medoids and Regression Trees. Deep learning is mostly non-robust.It's a bit of a shame. Maybe robust methods will become more popular in the future as better implementations become available. What holds them back so far is probably:Awkward mathematical and computational propertiesFrom a decision theoretical point of view, robust methods are usually not theoretically optimal.Outlier removal is easier to justify when explaining the methods to nonstatisticians.

I don't think so. Cancer is aberrant adaptation. Adaptation is to injuries that are at any level. Currently, these insults are becoming more frequent, adverse and diverse. Our systems are hence called to respond more often and in greater complex. Some things that influence this may include our telomeres (genetic leeway as I think of it) and immune system maturity. It is known that age and exposure to various antigens influence these as is genetic ’robustness’.Summary is that if our genetic diversity does not improve or is limited due to marrying close and marrying old; we embrace high levels of sanitation as in very aseptic environments for children; and keep up our exposure to chemical physical and radiation hazards as we embrace modern living environments; immune systems may remaine naive for longer and respond poorly when assaulted eventually and the same shall respond poorly when trouble in form of aberrations occurs. It is difficult to predict if it shall ever end since nature has always used death to stop it( of the organism or of the cancer) and our inventions are increasing chances of survival at a high cost to our genetic pool.My fantasy is that the rise in cancer is a sign that human evolution is building momentum. Just like in microenvironments of bacteria, when faced with a danger, limits on mutations are switched off and this raises the chance for a successful mutant to arise that may share new genes that promote survival of the whole colony. Such are my thoughts: we are adapting faster till we get it right and survive or die out.I thus leave this matter aside and leave my trust in God almighty who made all and gives all a chance and choice.

Let’s look at what makes a good technical.They should be incredibly robust and stand up to heavy daily abuse in austere conditions.They should be easily operated and repairable with duct tape and broken dreams by uneducated, untrained conscripts or militia.Customizable enough to hold an absurd array of weaponry it was never intended to mount.Is a Toyota Hilux.Well, we really can’t help with #4. But let’s look at the other criteria. Is the cybertruck robust enough for say, Deir-ez-zor? Maybe. We can debate whether the glass is vulnerable to baseballs or not, but nobody is expecting uncracked windshields in the middle of a warzone. The lack of explosively combustible fuel is certainly a major plus, and the fuel cell structure, assuming it’s like other Teslas, is theoretically redundant enough to allow one cell to be ruptured by a bullet or shrapnel without causing the others to fail. It’s roughly the same dimensions as an F-150 SuperCrew (about 1 foot shorter in length), has a greater payload and comparable or greater towing capacity (depending on configuration), and better ground clearance.As for #2, it falls short in most regards — sourcing parts will be very difficult, and repairing it will be far more complex than a Hilux. The one thing it has going for it here is that between solar charging and jury-rigging up additional batteries and chargers, it’d be equally or potentially even *more* logistically sustainable over time to operate than a Hilux. Those of us who’ve spent time in places where technicals are common can probably remember just how fragile the fuel economy can be and just how quickly it can be shut off by the government. In Iraq, for instance, even short-term damage to pipelines or other shortages could cause entire cities to be paralyzed with lines stretching 6–8+ hours or more. In comparison, though the Cybertruck driver won’t be benefiting from any charging stations for rapid charge, they’ll still be able to get by. Even in the event of long-term outages, they can still charge by solar and generator. For someone operating potentially outside the law, that kind of freedom and flexibility is huge.Finally for #3, well, it’s a truck with a 6.5 foot bed, and lower roof clearance than a standard-cab pickup, and it’s got roughly twice the payload capacity of your standard pickup. Rebels have long been mounting BMP turrets and Soviet-era anti-aircraft cannons on their technicals.The FSA, pictured above, actually wires their turrets into the pickup with modified controls. In theory, this should be easier on a Tesla — as soon as someone figures out how to jailbreak/root the computer system on it, you can potentially *code* a solution to this.All that could be controlled by tablets. And for those out there who still think that jihadists and rebel fighters haven’t been using tablets in the field for the past several years, y’all got some catching up to do — there are militant groups that have entire software development teams working out of their operations rooms these days.The Cybertruck could easily be host for anything from SPG-9’s and ZPTUs, to 23mm Shilka turrets, BMP-1 73mm main guns, Katyusha rockets, and most ATGMs. So it’s doing just fine on criterion #3.Finally, though not a criterion per se, the fact that the Cybertruck should be so much quieter than a combustion engine truck gives it a potential niche role as a recce vehicle, or for night ambushes.In summary, though not a Hilux, and therefore objectively inferior, you could probably do worse than a Cybertruck when it comes to providing some additional firepower to your militia and/or revolutionary force.
