When he was finally caught he was asked “Why not that city?”He said “Because every time I started casing one of their banks…THERE WAS ALWAYS A COP AROUND”.My department had a policy to enter and sign a log sheet in EVERY bank at least twice per day shift.One reason we took bank robbery very seriously because we had an officer shot and killed by a bank robber just a few years earlier.I knew Officer Jack L.’s wife and kids and they never seemed to really get over their loss…..and how could they ever be expected to !Story #2.My zone partner and I arrested two armed men outside one of our downtown banks after one of that bank’s employees phoned in a report of them acting suspiciously inside the bank.One of them had a robbery demand note in his pocket and both had prior felony robbery convictions.I think that credit for this one has to be given to the bank employee who called us in violation of her employer’s policy to wait until after the suspects left the bank prior to tripping the alarm or making a 911 call. If she had done that we would never have made the arrest for armed felons and attempted bank robbery.Story #3The most comical case (not mine….but in my city) of attempted bank robbery was when this MORON walked into our Coldwell Banker Real Estate Office and presented a demand note. He left the note when he fled the scene without anything for his effort. A few months later he was arrested in an East Bay City (this time in a real bank) with an almost identical demand note.
