I think it definitely is worth it. You gain access to a whole bunch of e-books and other material, opportunities to volunteer to contribute or lead to give back to the BA community, and it demonstrates to employers (existing as well as potential) that you are interested in your own professional development. It's not for everyone, there are many practitioners out there who are at the top of their game and who don't feel the need to be part of anything larger. That's fine too.
