PDF Editor FAQ

As a divorce lawyer, what is the worst way you've seen someone ruin their ex's life?

My mom and dad.My dad purchased 120 acres of land over 20 years. Before he ever met my mom. He vowed when he retired, he would move to that land and start his ranch.Well after a accident in the oil fields, he retired at 44.He was married to my mom at this point. They moved to the land with us and turned it into a ranch, with 100s of cows, and cats, and dogs, chickens, goats - you name it. I had many good memories of that place until the divorce.Where she TOOK EVERYTHINGTHE LAND - hersTHE ANIMALS - hersTHE FARM EQUIPMENT SHE NEVER USED - hersTHE CARS - hersALL THE MONEY IN THE BANK - hersThe only thing she did not get was his SS, and his settlement from the oil fields. He spent the next five years living in a AEROSTREAM TRAILER that was very dilapidated, renting a 1 acre plot for 100 dollars a month, while he fixed the very nasty trailer up.He then got him a very old truck, that barely would stay running. But he finally got out of the hole.He bought a ranch house on 5 acres, bought the adjoining 20 acres, then bought another plot of land - like 10 acres. And he built a nice home on it.Then just 2 months after he moved into his new home. a TORNADO KILLED HIM AND HIS NEW WIFE…in RAINSVILLE, AL.All this while my mom, sold everything and DIED WITH NOTHING….because she spent it allMe and my brother were left with nothing but what my dad left us, which after the years and years of recovery was not much.I got a old 1845 colt muzzle loader and a beat up 65 Ford Falcon. My brother got his guns, which were recovered from a tree a mile away still in the safe, but all bashed up because that tornado tossed it like a pebble. My mom left a house, still owned by the bank, with no gap insurance. A car that barely ran. And about 50k in credit debt… thank god they did away with inherited debt. The house, falling apart went back to the bank. The car IDK I left a note on with the key, saying this is the bill of sale, whoever finds this key, this note, now owns the car, title is in the glove box signed.I left a note outside the house saying FREE STUFF GO IN TAKE WHAT YOU WANT.This was mainly because with every rain…rain poured into the ghetto house…because she would not get the roof fixed and it fell it.It’s been 8 years now, I think, since he died, and 7 since she died - almost a year after him. She died a depressed, lonely, pill popping drunk.HE DIED HAPPY!

In the state of Mississippi, if my husband writes me a bill of sale, do I legally own it?

What a stupid question ! Bill of sale for what ? A horse, cow, chicken, or car ? If he is your husband you own it anyway ! Possession is 99 % of the law !

What is the history of Pakistan-administered Kashmir?

Let us roll back a bit in time, way back to the time when Mughals were ruling India.Akbar had conquered Kashmir and ended the Kashmiri Muslim rule. It was a seat of high importance for the Mughals, and soon even Shahjahan made it into a top-level province with a vital seat at Srinagar.[1][1][1][1]As the Mughal dynasty faded, Durrani empire’s Ahmed Shah took over Kashmir from 1751 after defeating Ahmed Shah Bahadur.By 1819 or so, the Durrani empire fell to the Sikh army of Ranjit Singh. The Kashmiris had been tortured and humiliated a lot under the Durrani rule, so they welcomed the Sikh regime with open hands. The rule under Sikhs was, however, more aggravating in terms of a number of Anti-Muslim laws where cow slaughter was banned, and even the Jama Masjid in Srinagar was closed down. The taxes were also very high and cultivation took a huge backlash, even forcing many Kashmiris to migrate to Punjab. As fate had it, a famine struck Kashmir, and Sikhs were forced to bring down taxes and be more friendly with the local cultivators.A lot of western travels had started visiting Kashmir and writing about the plight of the locals. This also led to the popularity of the local Kashmiri shawls worldwide.Gulab Singh, who had risen through ranks in the Sikh troops was soo appointed as the “Raja of Jammu”. He went on to conquer Rajouri, Kargil, and Ladakh and thereby strengthening their presence in the valley. [2][2][2][2]Drafted by a treaty and a bill of sale, and constituted between 1820 and 1858, the Princely State of Kashmir and Jammu (as it was first called) combined disparate regions, religions, and ethnicities: to the east, Ladakh was ethnically and culturally Tibetan and its inhabitants practiced Buddhism; to the south, Jammu had a mixed population of Hindus, Muslims, and Sikhs; in the heavily populated central Kashmir valley, the population was overwhelmingly Sunni Muslim, however, there was also a small but influential Hindu minority, the Kashmiri brahmins or pandits; to the northeast, sparsely populated Baltistan had a population ethnically related to Ladakh, but which practised Shia Islam; to the north, also sparsely populated, Gilgit Agency, was an area of diverse, mostly Shi'a groups; and, to the west, Punch was Muslim, but of different ethnicity than the Kashmir valley. After the Indian Rebellion of 1857, in which Kashmir sided with the British, and the subsequent assumption of direct rule by Great Britain, the princely state of Kashmir came under the suzerainty of the British Crown.Hari Singh was the reigning Monarch of Kashmir when India gained Independence. There were two major parties at that time in the princely state. National Conference and the Muslim Conference. Both of them had opposing views, while one wanted to be part of India, the other wanted to be of Pakistan. The Muslim conference was quite popular in the Jammu region and the Nation Conference in Kashmir. While Hari Singh wanted to remain an independent state, the Muslims of Western Jammu Province (present-day PoK) and a few others were adamant on being part of Pakistan.Late in 1947, a revolt broke put against Hari Singh and western districts of Poonch, Muzzafarabad and Mirpur declared a provisional Azad Kashmir government in Rawalpindi. This government soon fizzled out when their leader “Mr. Anwar” was arrested in Srinagar. A second provisional government was also soon proclaimed. In October 1947, thousands of Pashtun tribesmen stormed into Jammu and Kashmir to liberate it from Maharaja Hari Singh. Hari Singh’s forces were too weak to withstand the same and soon he asked India for assistance. India, in return, agreed to help provided he signed the Instrument of Accession (accession to India).Pakistan also intervened soon when Indian troops were airlifted to Srinagar. War resumed until areas of control were established along the line which is known in the present times as “Line of Control”.India approached the United Nations for a resolution and a plebiscite was suggested which never took place. In 1949, a ceasefire took place and the Pakistani government divided the PoK into two separate political units.Azad Jammu & KashmirGilgit-BaltistanDuring the 1972 Shimla Agreement between the two countries, “Line of Control” was bought into existence. The line has since remained disputed, unchanged and an issue that seems to have taken an eternity to get resolved.Footnotes[1] Kashmir - Wikipedia[1] Kashmir - Wikipedia[1] Kashmir - Wikipedia[1] Kashmir - Wikipedia[2] http://dailysikhupdates.com/sikh-empire-boundaries/[2] http://dailysikhupdates.com/sikh-empire-boundaries/[2] http://dailysikhupdates.com/sikh-empire-boundaries/[2] http://dailysikhupdates.com/sikh-empire-boundaries/
