Want to do a biology degree? Work in a laboratory testing blood samples, or even in a veterinarian's office. Not everyone is cut out for research, and showing that you can thrive in that environment (via that recommendation letter) reduces the university's risk of student failure in a related major.6. Write and publish a book with proper references related to the major you want. Use proper citations. Self-publishing isn't optimal, but the self-discipline to do a book is impressive and meaningful.7. Learn to program and create something useful. Programming is a very useful skill, and if you already show competence, you can use those mad skillz for other classes, or even to help the university.8. Visit all the universities you are going to apply to. Look neat. Shower. Shave. Smell nice. Meet the professors you've chatted with. Try to meet someone in admissions and hand him or her your book.
