That I might die before my thirtieth birthday.Yeah, yeah. I know my generation isn’t supposed to care about dying, because we’re all nihilistic and cynical. You know what, I’d like to actually get a chance to do something.Maybe I’m being unrealistic, a little too harsh. However, I can count quite a few things that could kill me, very soon. I’m not just talking about accidents, or some big deadly illness that affects a small percentage of the population.I’m talking disease.Do you know what’s happening right now? The ice is melting, the permafrost is getting a hell of a lot less frosty, and it just keeps getting hotter.Do you want to know a fun-fact? Yes, everyone always does. The curse of the Mummy’s tomb, that ridiculousness about the death of the ones who dared to open it, the myth cemented by the occasional death of those who died after opening the tombs.Sometimes, those Mummies preserved the disease that killed them. Do you know what killed some of the idiots who opened things they shouldn’t have? Sometimes, it was the diseases, forgotten and looking for somewhere to go.What does this have to do with us? Well, you might not be planning on tomb-robbing anytime soon. However, I did say something about the permafrost.That’s right, the permafrost. The stuff that’s melting away, the layer that scientists have found preserved creatures inside of.Do you know what else that layer might be keeping from the world? Disease. Really, really bad disease. The stuff of plagues, and nightmares from a very long time ago.Maybe when that permafrost melts, those old diseases will ravage the Earth, and balance out humanity’s destruction.Perhaps that’s unrealistic, maybe the cold killed off the germs. The thing is, that’s not the only problem right now.Weather patterns are changing, getting larger, more frequent, and more dangerous. The weather’s wildly fluctuating. I’ve had five colds this year.And it just keeps getting worse.That’s just the tip of the metaphorical iceburg. Politically, tensions remain fairly high. Things are complicated, and the leaders of many nations keep doing stupid things, and saying things that piss people off.There’s just so much stupidity.Yeah, maybe I’m not doing as much as I could be. But when they showed us a video in science class, about an environmentally wrought end of the world…they said that action had to be taken “now.” This was back in 2010. They said that it was the turning point, the point of no return.Tell me, what are a bunch of eight year olds going to do about it. This has been going on for so long, and now things are happening too slow, too little, too late.I’ll try my best to help. But honestly, at this point- it’s not going to make much of a difference.I don’t want to die in my twenties, or my thirties. I want to live an actual life.The scariest thing about our world right now?That these next 50 years might be all humanity ever gets.§

The same reason I don’t, and I’ve made this challenge several times, winning every time:I can watch 5 minutes of Fox News, any program, any time (many people have pointed out Shep Smith does a good job…I’ll concede that one, though he should be challenging guests far more frequently). Five continuous minutes. During those 5 minutes, I will be able to find a lie, a misstatement, a misidentification, whatever you want to call it. I will find at least one.Now, we’re not talking about opinions I disagree with. I’m talking verifiably false. Giving the wrong number, wrong date, wrong information. An info graphic showing incorrect data or misidentifying something. Always in a way that benefits the conservative-side, never the liberal or moderate.Earlier today, they were bragging about Trump’s job numbers for June: a new record number of new jobs for June, 222,000. The most in the history of the United States! Unless, of course, you actually look at LAST June, when we added 278,000.I believe I’m 5-0, a perfect record, in this challenge.And that, THAT is why liberals don’t watch Fox. I’ve tried repeating the same test with CNN and MSNBC…they both passed.5-and-0.*** EDIT 7/12/17 ***Since it seems like a lot of people are challenging me that “Fox would NEVER make a mistake like this”….*** EDIT 7/13/17 ***Thought I’d have some fun this morning and, on Fox News Channel, it took less than a minute. The speaker was saying that French President Macron and President Trump have a lot in common, particularly that “neither belongs to either major party.”Macron left the Socialist Party several years ago, becoming an independent and creating his own party, bringing in funding, etc. Trump is a Republican that ran as a Republican with full Republican support and Republican funding. There can be no valid comparison between the two, and this isn’t an error or misspeaking, this is a deliberate effort to misinform.*** EDIT 7/14/17 ***Alright, now that there’s an established pattern in the comments:No, I don’t have a problem with Fox because I’m the libbiest lib that ever libbed…and you should feel ashamed for making that accusation. It’s pretty clear my problem is with their dishonesty.Please stop justifying Fox by claiming that Obama lied, or is a Muslim, or that Clinton lies. It’s not pertinent.If you want to say “CNN and MSNBC lie just as much, so watch Fox”, please provide evidence of them lying. Actual evidence, not just your opinion. You can see many more examples of Fox lies in the comments…feel free to provide the same for CNN and MSNBC.Lastly, stop telling me that the recent resignations of 3 CNN reporters is proof that CNN lies. It makes you look really, REALLY bad to compare a news agency retracting a story (not because it was false, mind you, just unverified) and forcing three people to resign over it to the endless stream of dishonesty that Fox puts out with no retractions of any sort. I figured I'd head for home, take care of things like, oh, life…and stuff…then take a look at the particular item he wanted me to fact-check.He insisted, for some odd reason, on me fact-checking Fox News at 6:05PM CST, which looks to be "The Story with Martha MacCallum". Now, sadly, I can't find transcripts at all for her show, and I can't find a complete video of her show, so here's what I did: on her site, there are video clips that are dated, and I took the first video clip dated July 17, 2017, that was more than 5 minutes long. Michael Caputo on his House Intel testimony, Russia hysteria(Can we go ahead and agree that calling this “hysteria” is bias in itself? It’s a story. People are following it because it’s a really, really big story…it’s not hysteria)Sadly, it looks like these online videos strip many of the "bugs" from the screen which are frequent sources of Fox's misinformation, so I lost a good 50% of my material. Yargh!!! But, still, I pressed on and watched the video.1) Caputo immediately goes on the offensive, unchallenged, about "attacks" made by Rep. Jackie Speier towards his wife; you can see what Speier said in the following video...it's not even remotely attacking his wife. Michael Caputo Lashes Out at Rep. Jackie Speier for "Loose" Talk About His WifeJUDGMENT: BIASED, BUT NOT DISHONEST2) During a question about the Trump-Russia collusion stories, Caputo shifts the topic to Hillary Clinton, unchallenged.JUDGMENT: BIASED, BUT NOT DISHONEST3) Caputo begins praising Donald Trump Jr for his "candor". He's actually praising him for his honesty…after changing his story repeatedly. Once again, he's unchallenged in his statements.JUDGMENT: BIASED, BUT NOT DISHONEST4) BINGO, MacCallum distorts the truth, starting around the 3:35 mark (this is my quickie transcription, it's probably not 100% accurate): "It seems kinda weird that he'd send this email, saying 'Oh, they're gonna give you the goods', you know. And who knows what Donald Trump Jr's intonation was, emails can be...deceiving, when you look at the words on paper, 'Well if that's what they have, I love it, if it is what you say'."Notice the line, "Oh, they're gonna give you the goods". He brought Manafort and Kushner with him, putting the bulk of the campaign leadership to the meeting. There's not much question on the intonation. He was interested and eager.A Google Image Search for "Rob Goldstone" shows about a 50/50 mix of pictures of Goldstone in goofy outfits (I guess that's what he's known for on his Instagram) and pictures of him in business suits...and pictures of him with President Trump, of course.All in all, it's very clear that Fox and MacCallum were not honestly reporting the news here. It may not be “Trump won 150% of the popular vote” bad, but it’s misrepresentation.And if you’re a Fox fan and you’re itching to tell me this isn’t dishonest, imagine this scenario: an email chain between John Podesta and Michael Moore appears, where Moore is telling Podesta that he has access to the “Trump piss tape”, setting up a meeting that Podesta, Bill Clinton and Huma Abedin all attend, along with Moore and several Russian officials…would you be okay with Rachel Maddow portraying it as just a meeting to humor Michael Moore? Or would you be screaming your head off and posting on every Internet site you can find? Because, um…that’s exactly what happened when Bill Clinton met with Loretto lynch in an airplane, even after CNN and MSNBC gave it accurate and full coverage, the American right-wing was up in arms about why CNN and MSNBC weren’t talking about it 24/7.Objectivity, folks…it’s kinda important.JUDGMENT: FALSEHOOD*** EDIT 7/21/17 ***Yes, I know this answer’s getting quite long, but…as long as people keep commenting that I’m lying, well, I guess I should keep supporting my answer!This morning, just about 30 minutes ago, I turned on Fox News and it was “America’s Newsroom”. I watched just long enough to put my boots and socks on, so…2 minutes?First, let’s be clear: if you want to say this show is commentary and not news, I don’t want to hear about it. It’s right there…in the name of the show. If I turn on a show called “America’s Pigeon Room” and don’t see pigeons, I’ve already been lied to.So, the host (no clue as to his name) is talking about OJ Simpson’s parole and says (paraphrasing), “Let’s hear from OJ, then from the experts.”We go to a clip of Simpson, making his plea that he’s never held a weapon on anybody.Then, a clip from last night’s “The Story” where the guest was…Mark Fuhrman, and the entire clip is Fuhrman saying, “A sociopath, a psychopath”. That’s it.The next “expert” is…Geraldo Rivera, in a recorded clip, and he says (paraphrasing), “Obviously he’s forgotten about the two people he killed in front of that house.”We return to the “Newsroom” and the host brings in Alan Dershowitz, one of Simpson’s lawyers in the famous trial. There are multiple questions and answers and the host interjects at one point, saying, and this is a VERY close paraphrase, “What about those two people he cut to pieces, almost chopping their heads off?”Now, let’s go through this piece by piece and list the problems:Their experts are:a disgraced former police officer with zero psychiatric training, not identified on screen in the clip (which makes it appear that he could be a mental health expert), fired for both racism and bias against this particular person, claiming that Simpson has two conflicting mental conditions that completely conflict with the facts of his own cases, since psychopaths and sociopaths don’t ride in the back of a Bronco, crying on the phone with somebody trying the talk him out of suicide. JUDGMENT: LIEanother Fox reporter who is discussing a case where Simpson was found not guilty and has never really had any connection to Simpson. His only expertise, that I can find, is that he was a practicing lawyer for less than a year. JUDGMENT: JUST STUPIDWhile the Nicole Brown/Ron Goldman murders were bad, they most certainly weren’t cut to pieces, and Goldman’s head was not almost cut off. JUDGMENT: LIERivera and the host are ignoring (in fact, hiding) the fact that Simpson was found NOT GUILTY of that crime. I don’t care that we all believe he did it, or at least had a role in it. He was found not guilty! Do we expect parole boards to make their decisions based on everything they’ve been accused of and exonerated of? Hell no. In fact, they’re not allowed to. JUDGMENT: VERY BIASED MISREPRESENTATIONThis was an embarrassing lack of journalistic integrity this morning.
