Its wrong in comparing unlike terms. AP is large state and a thriving agricultural, trade hub and coastal region , while telangana is a dry land-locked and poor region !!After period of 20 years , definitely both telugu states are going to develop in their own way. and as it is a considerable gap, it depends on the initiatives of the government policies in the period and the present situation of these states.Request - I kindly request Telugus shouldn’t take the line of hyper nationalists or pseudo secularists, while discussing about our states.. Just like criticizing ruling government doesn’t make one Anti-National, criticizing ruling dispensation in our states doesn’t make us anti-telugu states. Let’s stop this hatred.Now let us discuss these two parameters in both states:PRESENT SITUATION OF ANDHRA PRADESH:Geography - Area Larger than Telangana, has large tracts of highly fertile agricultural fields which are been provided with great irrigation facilities since 1860 s (Even before, due to deltas , Coastal Andhra was a strong agricultural economy but the contribution of Sir Arthur cotton was revolutionary ).Economy - Due to irrigation facilities established under British , most of the coastal areas have transformed into great agrarian economy and which in turn helped people to venture into entrepreneurship in various other areas !! Many great companies are established by this successful entrepreneurs, like GMR, Dr Reddy’s , Apollo Hospitals, etc (The list is too big )Its a hub of agriculture and allied industries, industries based on food processing, fertilizers, cements, granites, etcInfact , the economic success of coastal Andhra is least studied in our country and coastal andhra is much under-rated or least known economic hub given its potential!!Even historically, coastal andhra was much known for its economic and agricultural prowess.Coming to GDP, it is higher than Telangana and poised to grow further with great resources and potentialTransport: Thanks to British regime and later efforts of their leaders, AP has great railway and road transport , one of the best transport facilities in the nation , almost every district is connected with railways , While there are many National Highways, the major part of Chennai-Kolkata goes through coastal Andhra !! Even the remaining roads and RTC services are best in Ap compared to telangana and many other states !!The state has many airports.Big Airports at Vishakapatnam, Vijayawada , Tirupathi and Rajahmundry and Puttaparthi (Anantapuram district). And there is a domestic airport in Kadapa!!New airport at Kurnool and other green field International airport is planned at Bhogapuram near Vizag !!Needless to say about water transport, it has india’s second longest coastline after gujarat.. With Vishakapatnam Port being one of the biggest ports in india, and also the Vizag is the Headquarters of Eastern naval command !! Krishnapatnam Port, kakinada port are also booming to become some of the best ports of the nation. Apart from these , Ap has kalingapatnam, machilipatnam ports !!AP has good inland water ways developed in Godavari and Krishna deltas during british times !!Resources:AP is rich in water resources , though some parts like Rayalaseema have water problems, given the vision of government it is going to be solved sooner and already there are visible changes !!Huge forest and mineral resources!!Moreover, AP has an advantage of geography, where most of the land can be irrigated with gravity canals !!Decentralization:Andhra is advantageous position where population is spread across evenly (ofcourse deltas being highly populated zones), and many great cities developed across the state distributing the economic fruits !!North Coastal Andhra has mega city of Vishakapatnam,and other centers like Anakapalli , Vizianagaram and Srikakulam while Rayalaseema has Kurnool, Tirupathi, Kadapa and Annatapur and Chittor, while south coastal Andhra has Nellore and Ongole .While mid-coastal Andhra has great urban centers with even small towns having great facilities - It has great cities like Rajamahendri(Rajahmundry), Kakinada, Bhimavaram, Eluru, machilipatnam, etc . And the capital city region has great urban centers of Vijayawada, Gudiwada ,Tenali and Guntur.Each of these urban centers have great hospitality industry !!Education:Thanks to the years of successful agriculture and economy, education took deep roots and the local landlords supported the growth of education and arts in AP, which is great !! And AP has given great stalwarts in various fields !!! CR Rao, Yellapragada Subba rao, Yelawarthy nayudamma, etcIt is fact that most of the Higher educational institutes in Hyderabad and Warangal of have faculty from AP!!Health care :Great achievements in Economy, health and industrialization helped in providing better health care for people !!Expat Community:AP has great expat community across the world most of them being successful professionals and entrepreneurs and business tycoons !! Naturally they are asset for the stateNeedless to say that the modern Hyderabad has significant investment from AP due to all of these factors !!Budget and Established capital: This is the area where AP lags somewhat compared to telangana, but given the dynamic leadership and strong-willed people, AP will surely gain upper hand on these two issues much sooner !!TELANGANA:Nothing except Hyderabad !!! That too it is dependent on the investments from people of all other states !!History and Geography has been so harsh to telangana , at least in South india, no other state/region suffered as much a s telangana!!In the past when AP was under British rule, telangana had Its own land lords looting its people and resources, its own rulers issuing fatwas against the native language of the land, its temples destroyed, no support for education , people were viewed as slaves by ruling class of all religions!!(My heart burns recollecting the sufferings of telangana )Geography: It cursed telangana - There is no possibility of utilizing great water resources present in this land as they flow at very low level compared to land-surface..Hence even the naturally fertile lands of north telangana turned into dry lands despite having nature’s bounty !!Lakes in telangana are its lifeline, they are neglected !!Slowly, has become second largest desert in india after rajasthan !!History- after kakatiyas and secular Golkonda sultanate rule, telangana experienced one of the darkest chapters in human history !!Agriculture and other Resources:As land is very high compared to river waters, there is no feasibility of agriculture in profitable manner, most of the land is dry , rocky and infertile,. No great water resources, Not a coastal area, hence no sea-trade..Economy : The produce of Our fertile agricultural lands under thousands of huge lakes was be usurped by landlords and Nizam while the farmers who were the main producers were given empty hands..Our people are thrown into chaos and deep levels of fear and inferiority instilled in the minds and were barred from education !!After Independence, the situation improved, but was lethargic to say the least. The region faced continuous apathy and except Hyderabad no other village or city was given minimum support..The governments in united Ap did their best, but without heart !!that’s why people started migrating for source of livelihood to other regions !!Industries are concentrated in and around Hyderabad,but not a single industry of worth mentioning is present in interior telangana!!Decentralization and urban centers : During the time of Independence Warangal was one of the biggest cities of telugu land , third largest after Madras and Hyderabad in telugu land, but later it was neglected completely!!! There no real city in telangana apart from hyderaabad !! Even cities like Warangal , Nizamabad, Karimnagar and Khammam are far lesser than even small towns in AP!!Tourism: very less or negligible compared to APTransport:Not even neighboring districts are connected by roads !! there are no buses between Nalgonda and Warangal.There is even no rail connectivity to some districts. Railway lines do not connect between districts !!There are no bus services between many districts. Bus stands are pathetic !! roads are very bad !! Best example is Hyderabad warangal highway (after Yadagirigutta)!!Except Hyderabad , there is no airport !!health care: except Hyderabad, nothing else again !!Education: basic education and degree education is very less in interior parts of telnagana!!There are good number of advanced higher education institutes in Hyderabad, but the percentage of telangana students pursuing technical and profesional studies is very less.No education, no health, no transport , no resources, no water, no support of rulers, I will leave to your assumption of the situation of such region !!Now tell me which state requires more time and effort to build from the scratch.. Ap reached to present stage after continuous investment and hardwork over a century..Interior telangana is far far behind AP in terms of HDI and economy. Its unfair to compare.So after 20 years or even after 50 years AP will be developed and telangana will be developed but comparatively Ap will be more developed because it has its core agricultural, educational geographical and demographic advantage ..And we need to accept that , its wrong to say that Telangana will develop fast just because of Hyderabad !!The ground realities are very contrast in both states !! One has a highly developed demography and other is a very backward one !!We should hope and wish that both regions develop and also we strongly hope that it happens with co-operation , not by confrontation !!EDIT:There are some comments opposing the use of the term “desert” for telangana. Yes,, calling telangana a desert is an exaggeration, I agree. But the recurrent spells of drought and no hope for future has forced me to term that !!I am not against telangana, but I want my telangana people and its leaders to clearly understand our problems and things we are lacking in a more succint manner and thoroughly so that they can plan better solutions to adrress this while at the same time taking telangana into the path of prosperity !!
