PDF Editor FAQ

Why are so many people disappointed in Cyberpunk 2077?

*For those who just got here, I first wrote this answer the night before Cyberpunk was released, then updated over the following days. You can basically see the whole downfall happen through my eyes in real time. Enjoy. So far, based on reviews I've seen, it boils down to:Lots and lots of bugs. There's a giant patch on day one, so who knows how many of these will be in the game when it launches, but it sounds like the review copies were a mess.A mismatched main quest and side quests. This is more particular to RPG die hards, but apparently the main quest is very serious and intense, and going off to do side quests seems like something out of character to the main story situation. Like, I'm going to die in 48 hours, do I really want to join this fight club or go find a super cool car instead of saving my life? This shit is bleeeeeeeeak. I'm not sure how anyone who walked through Velen in Wild Hunt expected Cyberpunk to be light and fun, but apparently the extreme nihilism and despair of this new world turned a lot of reviewers off.So much hype. This is the main one. I'm not sure at this point anyone would've been happy with anything less than a genre redefining 10/10 experience. It's hard to follow making maybe the best action RPG of all time, and yet everyone expected CDPR to do it with Cyberpunk. Turns out it's only really good, and not perfect.Whatever the reasons though, the people disappointed so far are only reviewers. The actual game drops tonight. I got 6 hours to go and can't wait. Maybe I'll be more impressed now that my expectations have been tempered a bit.Update:I've now played about an hour and a half of the game, and I have a new reason to be disappointed:5. I have an original Xbox One, and this game is looking like it was not designed for this hardware. The visuals are just not what was advertised, to the point that I thought I messed up the settings or something when I was going through the options. I almost waited until I had one of the newer systems to get this game, but then thought “nah, how much different could it be?” The answer: really different. I'm really surprised too, because I just got the new AC game and it looks great on an XBox. I think I'll get used to it after a bit, but yeah, this was not what I was expecting.Update #2:One thing I'm not disappointed about was CDPR's reaction to the bad feedback at launch. I took them up on their refund offer and will try the game out again when I get a next gen system. Before I did it I went in and played about 15 minutes to be sure, and wow, on an XBox One it really does look and feel both like a modern advanced RPG and like a game from 10 years ago all at the same time. I look forward to coming back to it on a PS5, whenever those things are actually available to buy.Update #3:Just a reminder, I'm talking about an XBox One here. I'm aware the game is pretty good on next gen and PC, but it's disappointing that they would release a game on consoles where it performs so badly. You know, especially if they intended people to buy it. Please don't blame disappointed people for buying a game being sold to them when that game turns out to be bad. If it didn't work on those consoles, they should've made it a next gen exclusive. I love CDPR's other games, but this was a misstep. For all you PC owners who want to defend them, I'll just leave this Penny Arcade strip here.Update #4:It turns out that even though CDPR offered refunds, the Xbox store is not necessarily honoring them. Yet another reason to be disappointed. I still really want to play this game, but I'm not sure I'd be willing to buy it again for a PS5 after this. I feel like CDPR and Microsoft are stealing my money.Update #5:Rejoice! Something to be pleasantly surprised about. After getting denied a refund from Microsoft the first time around (they very frustratingly said I didn't meet the requirements for a refund, but didn't say why, and gave a link to a requirements page that didn't exist), I spoke to someone at tech support who told me to add more details to my refund email. I did, and this morning my refund was there. For me, Cyberpunk on the Xbox One was pretty disappointing, and this process was frustrating, but I'm glad CDPR and Microsoft are acknowledging their mistake. I can't wait to come back and try it again once I have a PS5.Update #6:Wow. I was thinking I was lucky I was on Xbox because I'd heard Sony was denying refunds to anyone who had already downloaded the game, but they just came out and said not only will they give refunds, they're pulling the game completely from their online store. This is insane, especially since the game appears to run pretty well on the PS5. This looks like an extinction level event , but I hope CDPR pulls through. I love this company, and the Witcher 3 is my favorite game of all time. Also, the little bit of Cyberpunk I played had great voice acting and amazing characters, it just looked and ran bad. I hope CDPR comes back in a month with a.great game for PC and next gen, and that they keep making games for years to come. It looks like they just got in over their heads and panicked (this game cost $330 million to make!). I wish them luck.

I’m 15 and I trespassed on my neighbors property today to release a feral cat I could hear and see trapped in their cat trap. They are now saying they’re calling the police and might have video evidence. Should I be worried?

Yes.Trespassing is illegal. You also have likely contributed to harm to wildlife and to the cat that you released.Trapping feral cats for assessment, medical care, preventative care, and trying to put them into suitable homes (as pets or as working cats - i.e. in barns or warehouses) is part of humane and good management of feral populations.Feral cats die very young from horrible things - feral cats that can be trapped for neutering, vaccinations, and placed in places where they will have ongoing “colony care” have double or triple the lifespan of ferals left to their own devices.Maybe talk to your neighbor next time instead of trespassing?

Why can't I move on from my early miscarriage at 7 weeks? It's been 7 months and I'm still depressed.

Miscarriage happens - it isn’t uncommon, and in North American culture it is considered unfortunate but not a “significant” loss. It is generally expected that the woman will just accommodate the event and carry on, after all - it’s early, anything can happen in the first trimester, there hasn’t been visible evidence of a pregnancy, and the baby shower hasn’t even been planned yet.Socially acceptable recognition of a miscarriage usually consists of the requisite “I’m sorry”, tempered with reassurances that “you’re young, there’s plenty of time”, or a story about someone else’s miscarriage, or the recitation of statistics about how many first time pregnancies are lost this way. There isn’t any validation of the shattering feeling of loss that may be felt.No ceremony or ritual has been established to acknowledge this loss, no gathering of family and friends happens to support the bereaved mother-to-be, no spiritual consolation is provided. The woman is left to mourn this tender loss without recognition or comfort, wondering why she is feeling so badly when no-one else seems to think it’s a big deal.Emotionally, a miscarriage is a big deal. Some of us are able to tamp down the feelings or discount them as just “hormones run amuck” and remain functional, and some of us are more attuned to the grief and loss. Your seven month depression is a signal that there is a warehouse of emotions that have not been dealt with, and don’t like being ignored.Do what you need to do to validate your feelings, open up the doors to the warehouse, release the thoughts, dreams, wishes, hope and emotions, and mourn this loss. Discuss your feelings with your partner if possible - he may be feeling grief or disappointment but doesn’t want to burden you with it, may be afraid of compounding the sadness you are already struggling with. If you are able to share these feelings with each other, you can also support one another through this difficult period. It may be helpful to spend some time in quiet reflection, compose a letter to this loved but lost life, and perhaps create a memorial service that contains significance for you and your partner. Do this work now so that you don’t have to carry the overloaded warehouse around with you for the next sixty or eighty years.Best wishes for your healing and future happiness.
