I am posting this answer on request of someone when I replied this to an answer for the same question.My Aunt works at White house DC… We often talk about life in India as I am living here for the past 12 years… Quite frequently, she tries to pick up a conversation about India and even the Indian PM. She is all praise and says people working here with POTUS even talk about India, its influence and way of dealing with development strategies that no one can even think of.A few months earlier, when I was talking about the difference between living in India to the US, she said one thing to me, Mif, you need to give the same number of years for a developing country to that of a developed country. The US got its freedom long before India, probably a 100 years ago. So compare the time the US had to develop and India had to develop…What the US achieved in those 100 years, India will be doing in the next 25 years and with that kind of PM in India, you will be living in a highly advanced country. Other countries develop too, but they focus more on developing their arsenal, fire power to dominate… India does it to empower its people, technology and economy and that is something that sets this nation apart from others. She even once said, imagine if the Indian PM was the president of the US…

Here is my list of tactics to make any development team faster, numbered but not in any particular order:Remove any bad developers - they’re a drain on the good ones.Have a good version control branching strategy.Improve the quality of the requirements. This can be as easy as a team lead or manager enhancing the provided requirements to make them more clear for the team.Provide excellent tools (fast computers, great screens, good IDEs, etc.)Put developers in private offices.Reduce the need to communicate by having a process where communication is a natural effect of working. For example, use JIRA/Trello/whatever to manage the workload and have a standard for version control commit messages. Those 2 things alone will eliminate the need for status meetings and other time wasters.Using JIRA/Trello/whatever, make sure each team member has the four requirements for workload management:A prioritized list of what needs to be done.A way to indicate what’s in progress.A way to indicate that something is blocked.A way to indicate that something is complete.In my experience, all of these are quick and easy to implement except for number 4 (tools), which may require budget approval, and number 5 (offices) which may be “impossible”.I hope this helps!
