What are some of the strangest things that have happened to you at airports?
I don't know if this incident qualifies as strange, but I could have been in trouble because of a careless mistake of immigration officer.Me and my friend were visiting India for vacation + conference. According to department / research group rules, we were allowed only 3 weeks of vacation. As a proof we were supposed to print the immigration stamp dates and submit them to the department (apart from air tickets and conference registration details).The date of our entry in India was 4th JAN, 2014….. everything was going fine, I got the immigration stamp. Just to verify the stamp was correct, I checked it and lo !! The stamp date was 4 JUN !! (Photo attached)I went back to the immigration counter, and interrupted the lady officer who was about to stamp the passport of the next person in queue. Before I could say anything, she gave an annoyed look and asked me whats the matter.. I informed her about the wrong month stamped…. This lady was reluctant to address the issue initially, asking me instead to double check the date. Finally I requested her to atleast have a look and decide herself… she saw the stamp, realised her mistake, made the change with a pen and got it signed / cross verified from her boss.. all this while I had to wait at the counter….Now imagine how many passengers would have passed from that counter from 1st January till 4th January, before me?!?!?!
