How did Islam influence Sikhism?

Sikhism is the 5th Largest organized religion in the world. It’s founder was Guru Nanak Shah.Nine more Gurus followed him and ultimately the Holy Book complied by them was given the status of 11th and the Living Guru for eternity. The Sikh religion was founded at a time when people were groaning under the religious tyranny of Islamic and the Brahmanical order and the atrocities of the Mughal rule. At that critical moment Guru Nanak, founder of the Sikh religion, raised his voice against that tyrannical order.Various Scholars have given their views regarding Sikhism and Guru Nanak. Macauliffe calls Sikhism to be a distinct religion, while Dr Bouquet calls Sikhism to be the hybrid version of Islam and Hinduism.Similarly Ansar Raza calls Sikhism founder Guru Nanak a Muslim Sufi .Max Arthur Macauliffe writes in “Sikh Religion-Volume I”“I bring from the East what is practically an unknown religion. The Sikhs are distinguished throughout the world as a great military people, but there is little known even to professional scholars regarding their religion.I have often being asked by educated persons in countries which I have visited, and even in India itself, what the Sikh religion was, and whether the Sikhs were Hindus, Idolaters or Muhammadans. This ignorance is the result of the difficulty of the Indian dialects in which their sacred writings are contained”Dr A.C. Bouquet writes “Sikhism is the fruit of hybridization between Islam and Hinduism”Ansar Raza in his book “Baba Nanak -A Muslim Saint” argues that Baba Nanak was a Muslim Sufi.If you are going to ask me then I would say that Sikhism itself is a distinct religion. It cannot be called as a combination of two religions. Now coming to Sufism or Islamic influence on Sikhism/Sikh GurusThe orthodox belief that Mohammad was the prophet of God, did not appeal to Guru Nanak. He said if there was one prophet than there were millions like him. When a Qazi asked Guru Nanak to have faith in one God and His one Rasul-Prophet, he said, ‘ Why to have faith in the latter who takes birth and dies, believe only in the one who is omnipresent.Because of Nanak’s crusade against false rituals, the Pandits felt danger to their khir-puri and called him a kuraiya, a corruptor. Muslims were more liberal in understanding Nanak. Many Pirs and Fakirs made very close relations and understanding with the house of Nanak.Dr Manjit Singh Ahluwalia says, that not only had Sufism “profoundly influenced the Indian society and culture”, but also “influenced Sikhism more on practical side than on the side of its theoretical teachings”.Guru Nanak took from Quran and Sufi literature a good many terms and symbolic expressions, like sidak, sabar, hukm, nadir, mehar, karam ( grace), etcHe additionally notes:It is pertinent to mention here that Guru Nanak was well acquainted with Islamic teachings and Sufi doctrines. He had traveled extensively and visited many holy places. Moreover he had met and conversed with many Sufis of his time particularly Sheikh Sharaf of Panipat and Sheikh Ibrahim, the spiritual successor of Baba Fariduddin Ganj-i-Shakar. Therefore, his teachings are very close to the mystical doctrines preached by the Muslim Sufis. Before quoting fellow Sikh, Tara Chand, who declared:How deep Guru Nanak’s debt is to Islam, it is hardly necessary to state, for it is so evident in his words and thoughts. Manifestly he was STEEPED in Sufi lore and the fact of the matter is that it is much harder to find how much exactly he drew from the Hindu scriptures.Western academics have also identified said syncretic relations. According to Prof Paul Courtright, “the origins of Guru Nanak’s thought and religious approach are a part of the Bhakti renaissance which swept Hindu India from the ninth to seventeenth centuries”. In this context, while he identifies, “in the broad sense, Sikhism … [to be] a syncretistic religion, because it stands geographically and historically in the running together of the rivers of Hinduism and Islam”, he nonetheless “dispel[s] the simplistic notion that Sikhism is a conscious syncretism or that it is primarily an attempt to reconcile Hinduism and Islam”.There is the “careful study of Sikh traditions”, which the Qadiani Prof Abdul Jaleel assures, “lead to an irrefutable conclusion that Guru Nanak discarded the Hindu doctrines and assimilated the teachings of Islam to such an extent that Sikhism, in its pristine form, can be looked upon as a sect of Islam”Scholars are agreed that Nanak spent a considerable length of time during his early years of childhood in the company of Sufis including suggestions that he may have even been taught by one. For example, Prof Abdul Haq Ansari stated:It is often forgotten that the formative years of Guru Nanak’s life were passed in a land whose “towns and villages were honeycombed with Muslim saints and faqirs. Panipat, Sirhind. Pakpattan, Mullan and Uch were places where famous Sufi Shaikhs had spent their lives, and the names of Baba Farid, Ala-ul-Haq, Jalal-ud-Din Bukhari, Makhdum Jahaniyan, Shaikh Ismail Bukhari had become household words for piety and devotion.” From childhood onwards till the time Guru Nanak developed his concepts, he constantly imbibed Islamic ideas through his teacher Mulla Qutbuddin and through discourses with Shaikh Sharaf, Shaikh Ibrahim and several other Sufis.Prof Saiyid Athar Abbas Rizvi similarly advances:In his early life, he was inquisitive beyond his age, was given to profound meditation and was exceedingly humane. His critical acumen and balanced judgement helped him to carve out an outstanding place for himself in an environment overflowing with mystical thought and spiritual attainments. As he belonged to a literate family, neatly placed in the service of the Afghan governors of the Punjab, he must have listened to verses of Rumi, Sa’di, Hafiz and Jami in his own home environment and the thought of the great mystic poets would have aroused his interest in Divine love, grace and mercy. As his understanding of the Supreme Being matured and his experience increased, he felt himself endowed with a sort of Divine inspiration which made his thought pattern unique and gave him a serene self-confidenceThe most convincing evidence, however, of a shared philosophy between Sufism and Nanakian thought is via the well-known thirteenth century Sufi, Khwaja Fariduddin Mas’ud Ganjshakar (d. 1265CE). Better known as Baba Farid or Sheikh Farid, this so-called mystic resided in the Punjab region of South Asia and belonged to the popular Sufi order called the Chishtis, or Chishtiyyah. What set him apart from other celebrated Sufi mystics, who shared similar beliefs and practices, was that 134 of his hymns (shabads) were chosen by Nanak for inclusion in what would later become the Adi Granth – Sikhism’s first compilation of a scriptural canon prepared by the fifth Guru, Arjan. We find a good deal of similarity, however, in the concept of spiritual ascent as propounded by the Sufis and Guru Nanak. Both commend the common path of love and devotion. Both have the Shariat (The Law) as their base. It has been called Dharam Khand (The region of Dharma) by Guru Nanak. In Arabic, this state is called Nasut or humanity, which is the natural state of every human being. This state is the beginning of the journey of the seeker and is known as “Safaru’l-abd”. Through the practice of Shariat or Dharma, the seeker acquires the nature of angels or Malakut where upon he takes the path of spiritual journey, called Tariqat. Guru Nanak has mentioned two regions in this state of Malakut i.e. the region of knowledge (Gyan Khand) and the region of effort (Saram Khand). Through the knowledge gained from the preceptor and through continuous effort, the seeker purifies his mind and intellect and attains the status of a Siddha. Guru Nanak categorically asserts that the creation of Infinite Lord cannot be delimited. In this Cosmos, pervaded by Almighty, the seeker attunes himself with Infinite, who is All-Powerful and absorbs Power, the possession of which is called Jabarat, for which Marifat (Gnosis) is the means. Guru Nanak has called this state the region of Grace (Karam Khand), where the seeker lives in bliss and fullness of God. Ultimately the Truth merges with THE TRUTH. Guru Nanak has called this state as the region of Truth (Sach Khand) which in Arabic is called Lahut (Divinity), a state of absorption in the All-Conscious, All-Bliss and All-Seeing Lord. In this state, the seeker attains Reality, which is called Haqiqat in Sufi terminology.Hence it’s incorrect to call Sikhism to be a sect of Islam or Hinduism. If we are doing this then it would be like to shut our eyes to the multifarious trends of thought originating from these sources and contributing to the general atmosphere in which the founders of Sikhism flourished. Just as the mere presence of the ideas of transmigration of souls and the law of Karma should not make us think that Sikhism in nothing but Hinduism; similarly its stern monotheistic character should not persuade some scholars to say that Guru Nanak was a Mohammadan. Thus we find that Sikhism was not only deeply influenced but it also made the best use of its acquaintance with Islam and Sufism to preach the religious views. Now some answers to basic questionsWhen Guru Nanak was confronted by Shaikh Brahm or Ibrahim (descendant of Baba Farid) with the cardinal question, was he a Hindu or a Muslim? To Guru Nanak such type of questions were irrelevant. He averred, “If I say I am a Hindu, I tell a lie. I am also not a Muslim.”It was in this vein that Guru Arjan later adopted Kabir’s hymn that “We are neither Hindus, nor Muslims. The One, Allah-Ram is breath of our body.” To the specific question by Siddhas as to “Who is thy Guru”, Guru Nanak stated explicitly that the Word (of Lord) was the Guru.-SGGS Page no 1136We get clear cut picture from the SGGS that Gurus were not Muslims or Hindus and also they have no relations to the legendary heroes of Hindu MythologySGGS Page no 1136Bhairo Mehalaa 5 Ghar 1Bhairao, Fifth Mehl, First House:Ik Oankaar Sathigur Prasaadh ||One Universal Creator God. The God is Ajoone-The one who don’t fall in the cycle of birth and death. Then how come legendary figures of Hinduism like Lord Rama and Lord Krishna or Gopal or Hari comes to be the God of Sikhism as these all figures had taken birth in their respective time period and died. Now we will come to name of “Allah”,”Karim”, “Parbardigar”. According to some , Allah is a 30 meters guy and is sitting on a chair in seven sky.To support this baseless claims they took the help of a HaditSAHIH BUKHARI HADITH NO. 6227Narrated Abu Huraira: The Prophet said, Allah created Adam in His picture, sixty cubits (about 30 meters) in height. When He created him, He said (to him), Go and greet that group of angels sitting there, and listen what they will say in reply to you, for that will be your greeting and the greeting of your offspring. Adam (went and) said, 'As-Salamu alaikum (Peace be upon you).' They replied, 'AsSalamu-'Alaika wa Rahmatullah (Peace and Allah's Mercy be on you) So they increased 'Wa Rahmatullah' The Prophet added 'So whoever will enter Paradise, will be of the shape and picture of Adam Since then the creation of Adam's (offspring) (i.e. stature of human beings is being diminished continuously) to the present time. These Kinds of statements definitely will raise questions in the mind of the readers who are Greek to Islam and other monotheistic faiths. The Hadith is clearly saying that the almighty Allah has created Adam in his own image that too 30 Meters. This very notion goes not only against the Islam but also all the monotheistic faiths.I would love to clear the doubt regarding this Hadith. This Hadith is not present in Holy Quran.Holy Quran is the nucleus of Islam just as SGGS is the nucleus of Sikhism.Citing the scholarly work of a controversial figure won’t earn any good. The above Hadith is the work of Ibn al-‘Arabi .It should be made clear that the phrase “image of God” never appears in the Holy Quran and has not played a prominent role in either of Islam’s two largest communities, Sunni and Shia. However, a prominent Islamic mysticism, or Sufi, scholar, Ibn al-‘Arabi, argues for the concept of al-Insan al-kamil, an Arabic term that can be translated in English as the “perfect or complete man.”Ibn al-‘Arabi’s works have captivated the minds of Western scholars and theologians, yet his studies remain controversial and at times even resented among Muslims. For in Islam, the association of an “image” with God and even with certain prophets is widely recognized as kufr, or rejection of Islam. This concept was taught to Muslims by the Prophet Mohammad who narrated many hadith forbidding image-making to the Muslim nation, the most prominent being: “the people who will receive the severest punishment on the Day of Judgement will be the Image-Makers.”Overall, the concept of religious images is frowned upon in Islam, but more significantly, the association of God with an image is considered blasphemous. This is due to the fact that Muslims believe associating an image to God can distract a worshiper from understanding the wonder and caliber of God. And one cannot forget that the Quran clearly states “there is nothing that resembles God” (42:11). Thus, for Muslims, an “image of God” becomes a sin that connotes the ultimate disbelief of Allah, a sin that if pursued, can even destabilize your entire identity as “Muslim.”Not surprisingly, Ibn al-Arabi’s interpretation of Hadith Bukhari 6227 has been refuted by many Muslim imams and scholars. I will argue that they are correct because of the strong theological evidence they provide. These scholars and religious leaders against Ibn al-‘Arabi use the holy Quran as the source of their refutations. And for these Muslims scholars and generally all Muslims, the Quran functions as a noncontroversial doctrine, as it is believed that this holy text was verbally revealed to the Prophet Mohammad by the angel Gabriel from God. In the Quran, Muslim scholars point out that there are numerous commands and verses which deny any type of association or likeness to God. They include: “there is nothing like God” (42:11), “Allah does not forgive anything that should be associated with him” (4:48), and “O believers, you shall worship God alone, and you shall not associate anything with Him therein” (4:36).If we Want to Know Who is Allah, then we should refer the Holy QuranChapter 112 of the Quran, titled Al-Ikhlas (The Sincerity) reads:Say, "He is God, [Who is] One.God, the Eternal Refuge. He neither begets nor is born,Nor is there to Him any equivalent."Its very much similar to Sikhism’s Mool Mantra“The one Supreme Being; the Eternal; the Creator Who pervadeth And sustaineth all His creation: free from fear and enmity; Timeless; not subject to birth and death; Self-subsistent, and the Enlightener; to be known and realized by the grace of Guru”SGGS page no 885, Bani of Guru Arjun -The 5th GuruRaamakalee Mehalaa 5 ||Raamkalee, Fifth Mehl:Koee Bolai Raam Raam Koee Khudhaae ||Some call Him, 'Raam, Raam', and some call Him, 'Khudaa-i'.Koee Saevai Guseeaa Koee Alaahi ||1||Some serve Him as 'Gusain', others as 'Allaah'.Kaaran Karan Kareem ||He is the Cause of causes, the Generous Lord.Kirapaa Dhhaar Reheem ||1|| Rehaao ||He showers His Grace and Mercy upon us. ||1||Pause||Koee Naavai Theerathh Koee Haj Jaae ||Some bathe at sacred shrines of pilgrimage, and some make the pilgrimage to Mecca.|Koee Karai Poojaa Koee Sir Nivaae ||2||Some perform devotional worship services, and some bow their heads in prayer. ||2||Koee Parrai Baedh Koee Kathaeb ||Some read the Vedas, and some the Koran.Koee Oudtai Neel Koee Supaedh ||3||Some wear blue robes, and some wear white. ||3||Koee Kehai Thurak Koee Kehai Hindhoo ||Some call themselves Muslim, and some call themselves Hindu.Prabh Saahib Kaa Thin Bhaedh Jaathaa ||5||9||Knows the secrets of his Lord and Master. ||5||9||Koee Baashhai Bhisath Koee Suragindhoo ||4||Some yearn for paradise, and others long for heaven. ||4||Kahu Naanak Jin Hukam Pashhaathaa ||Says Nanak, one who realizes the Hukam of God's Will,The above lines of SGGS again proves that Allah is not a Vedantic but Islamic. The name of the Lord is Allah (not a Vedantic but Islamic), Rahim, Parbardigar, Krishna, Ram, Waheguru, Gosain etc.God can be called by any name in Sikhism but one must abide the definition of God given in Mool Mantra. One more small clarification I would like to present from SGGS Page no 471Salok Ma 1 ||Shalok, First Mehl:Goo Biraahaman Ko Kar Laavahu Gobar Tharan N Jaaee ||They tax the cows and the Brahmins, but the cow-dung they apply to their kitchen will not save them.Dhhothee Ttikaa Thai Japamaalee Dhhaan Malaeshhaan Khaaee ||They wear their loin cloths, apply ritual frontal marks to their foreheads, and carry their rosaries, but they eat food with the Muslims.Anthar Poojaa Parrehi Kathaebaa Sanjam Thurakaa Bhaaee ||O Siblings of Destiny, you perform devotional worship indoors, but read the Islamic sacred texts, and adopt the Muslim way of life.Shhoddeelae Paakhanddaa ||Renounce your hypocrisy!Naam Laeiai Jaahi Tharandhaa ||1||Taking the Naam, the Name of the Lord, you shall swim across. ||1||The above lines are referred to such persons who change religions due to their personal profits. The above lines refers to the historic incident of Indian Subcontinent when few people from Hinduism converted to Islam for personal gains. These people use to tax the cows and the Brahmins. They use to go to Mosque in day light but inside their house they use to pray to idols. Guru Nanak condemns such hypocrisies.Last I would like to request everyone that not to write statements from controversial books. If you want to write about Islam then please use the lines from Holy Quran, if you want to write about Sikhism, then please use the lines from Holy SGGS, similarly please go for Holy Bible in case of Christianity.

What are the best ways to promote and advertise a new web site for free?

Long Answer…Advanced Content Promotion ChecklistThis comes straight from the awesome checklists over at Process.stIntroductionContent marketing is not easy, it takes a lot of elbow grease to create valuable content and even more to promote it! The promotion part is something that many companies tend to miss when looking at a content marketing strategy. A general rule of thumb is you should spend 20% of your time creating content and 80% promoting it. That’s the purpose of this checklist, so you can use it to promote the content you work so hard to create.Prepare Your PostThis checklist will work for sharing all forms of content whether it is a blog post, eBook, video or whitepaper. However, if your content is some form OTHER than a blog post, you should also be writing a post about it on your blog. So while not all content has to be blog related, you should always be blogging no matter what your content type.If you don’t have a blog, check out this video:How to Create a WordPress Blog in Under 5 MinutesNext step is to prepare a summary of your content.Make Sure your Content is EpicThere is a huge caveat to this checklist is that your content must be EPIC. If you create crap content, most of these techniques will yield little to no results and will be a huge waste of time. Check out how Alex Turnbull got over 1,000 subscribers to his blog from one post thanks to blogger outreach! To start with outreach, you first need to create a list of bloggers you want to target. There are a few considerations here. First, they should be relevant to your niche. Don’t contact bloggers who blog in a completely different area to you. Secondly, as always, you content must be awesome!Another tip here is to look for “up and comer” bloggers as they may be easier to contact and get less requests than really popular bloggers.Tools to Find InfluencersTechnoratiSearch on TwitterFacebook Graph Search for FanpagesGoogle Search for BlogsAllTopScoop.itWe FollowTopsyHow to Contact ThemEmail – Preferred MethodContact PageWhoisTwitterFacebook PageGoogle+Tools to Manage OutreachBuzz Stream Specifically designed for blog outreachTrello is a great free organizational tool to help you track activitiesStreak CRM (Customer Relationship Management) tool will work if you already use oneEmail Templates for OutreachOutreach Letters for Link Building [Real Examples]Blogger Outreach Email TemplateHow To Write A Blogger Outreach EmailHow To Create a Killer Outreach Email With 4 Quick Steps and 3 Simple Tips10 Hand Curated Blogger Outreach Examples to Inspire Your Next CampaignMore info on Outreach:Blogger outreach is a big topic if you want more information on blogger outreach check out the below guides:Advanced Guide to Content PromotionHow to Develop a Solid Blog Outreach StrategyMy Favorite Way to Get Links and Social Shares – Whiteboard Friday5 Tips for Developing Better Blogger OutreachSubmit to Social Bookmarking Sites & DirectoriesSocial Bookmarking sites can generate a huge spike of traffic, landing the front page of a large Subreddit can yield thousands of visitors for example. For example, for the post “Why I Moved from Dropbox to Google Drive” you can do a search for “Dropbox vs Google Drive”, “Google Drive Review” and “Dropbox Review”.Then search just the first and second pages of Google for articles that allow comments. Post a quick response to the article and included the link. Don’t bother going to the third page as 95% of people don’t visit past the second page of Google. Is it true that people from Punjab, India coming to Canada as students are causing chaos and fights in Brampton, specifically in the area around Sheridan College?

The following I am quoting from another author ( I am keeping the identity of this author anonymous, due to safety reasons. The present state of affairs as Canada is giving Visa as if there is no tomorrow.May 2019Applied for visa and it got approved within 5–7 days which forced me to think that how can a country provide someone a visa so quickly, discussed it with my parents and friends. They told me that it must be because of my good academic records and I somehow agreed with them. Many people are here just for PERMANENT RESIDENCY and just look to pass the course and are ready to do any job. Many students don’t even know why they are in the course they are enrolled in. They just wanted to get in here.Sir/Madam:Shut Down Canada’s Chandigarh Consulate And All of Its FraudThis is just the tip of the iceberg, and the real deal is under the water. Stay tuned as the saga continues, and there is more accumulation of these elements. It is a known fact among these students a good portion is not here to studies, they are here with a different agenda.Fraudsters use bogus University of Waterloo acceptance letters to enter CanadaWATERLOO — Sarbjeet Singh landed in Canada on August 2012, telling the airport border agent he would be studying for his master's degree in engineering at the University of Waterloo the following month.Investigators say there’s a cottage industry producing fraudulent university documents in some foreign countries. To back up his story, he had a government-issued student visa, and an acceptance letter into one of Canada's most sought after engineering graduate programs. The border agent stamped his paperwork, and waved him through. On the surface, there's nothing remarkable about a young man from India being one of the more than 5,800 international students who come from abroad to study at Waterloo every semester. There was only one problem. The University of Waterloo had never heard of him.Instead, the Canada Border Services Agency allege Singh was part of a sophisticated immigration fraud used to gain illegal entry into Canada.Investigators say Singh had no intention of attending the university, and his behaviour once he arrived was not that of someone planning to study here, according to court records. His Waterloo acceptance letter, used to gain a student visa and eventually a work visa, was fake.Singh was one of 15 people caught in a recent probe by the Canada Border Services Agency, all using fake acceptance letters from the University of Waterloo's engineering program. He was convicted in April under the Immigration and Refugee Protection Act, and is awaiting sentencing. As a foreign national, he could face deportation.Singh, who told the court he was born in 1991 and has a high school education, managed to fool Canadian officials for years — until he was caught during an investigation into a larger network of Indian men who gained entry using fake University of Waterloo acceptance letters, according to court documents. He arrived in Canada through Edmonton International Airport on August 4, 2012. By that November, he'd applied to change his study permit into a work permit, claiming he had a job offer from a company called Cheema Janitorial Services Ltd. in Edmonton. It was granted. In January 2014, Singh applied for an extension of his work permit, and received it. Since arriving, he's worked in Alberta. There's no evidence he's ever been to Waterloo Region. It wasn't until the CBSA caught another man, Harinder Singh, when he tried to enter the country with a fake Indian passport in January 2016 that they were led to Sarbjeet Singh.Like Singh, Harinder had also obtained a student visa using a fraudulent University of Waterloo acceptance letter, claiming he'd been admitted into the same master's program in engineeringRELATEDB.C. college faculty lead charge against reliance on foreign-student feesDouglas Todd: The hidden costs of foreign student policyForeign students at UBC squeezing out domestic applicants, prof’s paper argueThe newspaper ads in India are the visible tip of a booming underground industry in fake marriages involving would-be international students. The prize for the “spouse” whose family buys an instant marriage with a foreign student is back-door access to a full-time job in Canada and a fast-track to citizenship. The matrimonial ads normally promise that the foreign students’ sham marriage, plus all travel and study expenses, will be paid for by the Indian families who are determined to have their son or daughter emigrate. The type of Indian student the ads seek is usually a teenage girl, who must have passed an English-language test and therefore be in line to be accepted as an international student.Media outlets in India, such as the Hindustan Times, report there is a “booming matrimony market for ‘brides’ who can earn the ‘groom’” coveted status as a migrant to a Western country.Canada is among the most sought-after destinations for Indian foreign students, say migration specialists, because it is the most generous toward foreign students and their spouses. Australia has also been popular, but recently tightened its rules. Here is a typical recent ad from one Punjabi-language newspaper in India, Ajit:“Jatt Sikh, boy, 24 years old, 5 feet 10 inches, needs girl with IELTS band 7. Marriage real or fake. Boy’s side will pay all expenses.”The ad is listed by a high-caste “Jatt” Sikh male, or more likely his parents. It seeks a contractual marriage with a young woman who has scored well (“band 7”) on an international exam called “IELTS,” the International English Language Testing System. Almost three million IELTS exams are conducted each year. Here is another ad, from the newspaper Jagbani:“Barbar Sikh, 24, 5 feet 8 inches. Finished Grade 12. Looking for BSc or IELTS pass girl. Boy’s side will pay all expenses to go to Canada.”In this ad the family of a lower-caste “Barbar Sikh” is seeking to have their son marry an Indian female with a bachelors of science degree, or a passing mark on the IELTS test, so their son can be allowed into Canada as her spouse. As these kinds of ads illustrate, the parents of the male “spouse” typically offer to cover all expenses for the international student, who often end up attending one of the scores of private colleges in Canada with low to non-existent standards.Shut Down Canada’s Chandigarh Consulate And All of Its FraudShut Down Canada’s Chandigarh Consulate And All of Its FraudCanada’s Sikh Defence Minister, Harjit Saijan, has recently admitted that he lied when he claimed to be the architect of a key NATO mission in Afhghanistan. Saijan is one of four Sikhs whom Trudeau has appointed to his Cabinet. About 1% of Canadians are Sikhs, yet they represent 14% of Trudeau’s Cabinet. Post National Trudeau has never justified this outrageous situation and in this latest Sikh scandal, has refused to fire Saijan. This article describes the rampant corruption at the Canadian Consulate in Chandigarh, the corrupt political environment in India’s Punjab from which Saijan and many of Canada’s Sikhs emerged and the continued Sikh corruption in Canada. This article was written for The Canadian Immigration Reform Blogspot in 2010, but is just as relevant, if not more relevant, today. For the Blogspot’s more recent views on “DIVERSITY”, see the following : Canadian Immigration Reform Blog+++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++Shut Down ChandigarhI started Canadian Immigration Reform Blogspot with a few goals in mind. Getting Canada’s diplomatic mission in Chandigarh, Punjab, India shut down has been added to the list. Two more stories published in the Toronto Star add fuel to the fire and illustrate why Canada’s diplomatic mission in Chandigarh, Punjab, India does not serve Canada’s interest as it is a complete waste of money. The first one takes a look at the unscrupulous, unethical, lecherous face of immigration consultancy in the Indian state.Sandeep Ohri is a dashing 42-year-old who revels in zipping through the traffic chaos in his gleaming Mercedes, passing billboards touting him as the leading immigration consultant in Punjab state. But Canadian officials see someone else: an extraordinarily brazen and successful scam artist in an industry rife with deceptive swindlers willing to provide applicants with a litany of sham documents — everything from fake airline tickets and doctored bank statements to forged letters from Canadian-based funeral homes.Of the nearly 500 visa applications formally rejected this year, 228 come from Ohri and his firm, OGIC Immigration Consultants. The six visa-section staff who work at Canada’s mission in Chandigarh, Punjab’s capital, review 40,000 visa applications a year from students, family members and prospective immigrants. While official statistics aren’t available, one senior Canadian diplomat estimated at least a quarter of those applications are refused because of fraud.“More would be if the processing was completed, but sometimes you know it’s fraud and just refuse the request and close the file,” the diplomat said.India is Canada’s top source for immigrants simply because of the volume of applications the country produces due to the size of its population. Of those who immigrate, approximately half of them come from the state of Punjab. Punjab is home to the majority of India’s Sikhs. Thus there are more Sikhs in Canada than Hindus. Hindus comprise the majority of India’s population at 80%; Sikhs are only 2% (there are more Christians in India than Sikhs). In Canada, Sikhs constitute roughly 50% of the Indo-Canadian community whereas Hindus are just over 30%.In Punjab, “the average per-capita annual income of $484 is still the highest in the country” which means in relation to rest of their compatriots, Punjabis are not necessarily hurting. They have money.++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++With that said we come to the second article. This one reveals the financial extent to which Punjabis go to send a son over-seas to secure “a better life” for the family. This can be realized in the form of remittances or the eventual importation of the entire family into western countries through family reunification schemes. Now, though the story is presented as a tragic tale of a Punjabi family who only tried to make a better life for themselves, I cannot say I share that sentiment. I believe they got what they deserved. You see, in India western citizenship is a status symbol and the article makes this clear. In the small village of Kapure, it is not about keeping up with the Joneses. It’s about keeping up with the Gills and Dhaliwals. On a narrow, dusty street, one house after the other boasts visible signs of prosperity — a fresh coat of paint, air conditioners, brick driveways and new cars. The children, playing hide and seek, wear Reebok and Nike. The neighbours share not only affluence but also a common source of it — almost every family has a son, son-in-law or nephew living abroad and sending money home.Every family, that is, except the Bhangus. In many villages, almost every house has at least one person in North America, England or Europe. Those that don’t, like the Bhangus, are considered pariahs, says Krishan Chand, who’s been studying the effects of immigration on villages with the Centre for Research in Rural and Industrial Development. They are excluded from events and, in some cases, parents are not able to find husbands for their daughters. Thus starts the chase where these left-out families will do anything in the hope of sending a family member — usually a son — abroad. This leaves them vulnerable to the smooth talk of unscrupulous immigration consultants. But the prospective immigrant is not a babe in the woods free of blame. They oftentimes participate in the fraud.Typically, agents provide prospective university and college students, and others, with fake bank statements and other doctored documents to support their visa requests, which are usually rejected without proof of one’s ability to pay school fees and living expenses.Others provide their clients with fake passports and visas. Most are rejected.A visa officer at the Chandigarh mission’s consular section told the Star’s Rick Westhead last year that the staff is deluged with applications sent with phony documents. “Over the past year, 85 per cent of employment letters related to work visa applications have been forgeries,” he said. The Bhangus find it hard to believe they are living this nightmare.Prabhjot (Bhangu) says he resisted for some years but then started exploring various avenues, but found he couldn’t immigrate to Canada under the points system, or as a student or on a work permit. The family knew there was a better chance of finding a well-to-do husband for Hardeep (their daughter) who had turned 20, if Prabhjot was abroad. That’s when Prabhjot says a friend from the village who now lives in Toronto introduced him to an immigration agent. The agent promised to take Prabhjot to Toronto for $48,000.Things go downhill from there but at least he escapes with his life. Not so for Amandeep Kaur Dhillion. Remember her? The status seeking impulses of her Sikh family back in India sacrificed her happiness and sold her into a loveless marriage so that they can (could) use her to immigrate to Canada. She was stabbed to death on January 1, 2009, her father-in-law was charged with first degree murder.Punjab is a hot bed of fraud and so, in their infinite political wisdom, the Liberal Party of Canada opened a foreign mission right in the belly of the beast. Opened in 2004 to reward Sikh voting blocs for their loyal support, Canada has the only foreign mission in Punjab’s state capital. With an annual operating budget of around $25 million a year the mission serves no purpose other than to waste Canadian tax dollars by funneling scam artists, the pathetic, the mediocre, the greedy, the aged, all into Canada. But they eventually vote and isn’t that what really matters in the end?Jason Kenney, Canada’s minister responsible for immigration, was in India recently to specifically address the immigration abuses Canada is subjected to by Indian applicants, particularly those in Punjab. Well, good luck with that. Why should India care? Why would India want to curb the steady outflow of non-resident Indians into foreign countries who can then influence domestic politics and the economy to satisfy India’s interests?(So) Forget India. Canada needs to protect itself and the way to do that is to shut down the damn, useless mission in Chandigarh. For one thing it plays into the hands of the immigration consultants in the state by making the execution of their scams all the easier. In this regard, Canada is an accomplice to the crimes. Also, what quality of immigrant is the mission helping to import into the nation when many of the applications are clearly fraudulent? If these people are willing to go so far as to defraud the Canadian government and the people it represents, then they don’t deserve to come to Canada at all. And what kind of Canadians will they be, if you can call them that, if Canadian citizenship is nothing more to them than a status symbol on par with an expensive car and fancy golf clubs?Canada needs to shut down the mission as well as curtail immigration from India altogether. We simply accept far too many immigrants from that country to be of any worth. And of that country, a considerable sum come from one particular region. Indeed, this is characteristic of the immigration system as a whole. Almost 60% of immigrants come from Asia and of that 60%, most come from a few source countries chiefly India, China, and the Philippines. This doesn’t say much about diversity in the immigration system now, does it?++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++For more recent Canadian Immigration Reform Blogspot views on “DIVERSITY”, see the following : Canadian Immigration Reform BlogCanadian Immigration Reform BlogThird-world immigrants need to stay home and fix their s**t and Canada would be wise to deny them residency until they do so. They’ve proven themselves unfit for immigration because if they couldn’t do anything for themselves in their native countries, and for their native countries, then they’re not going to do anything for us. They didn’t come to Canada to solve our problems, they came to Canada to have Canada solve theirs. The third-world is the third-world because of the people of the third-world and by bringing them here you’re inviting what makes the third-world with them. There is no benefit to be had, not real ones anyway, by Canada in allowing mass sustained third-world immigration and if there are any benefits they’re mostly novel, superficial, or fleeting mostly being eaten up by the immigrants themselves. Third-worlders need to stay where they are and fix their countries, not come here and colonize mine. Had they collectively invested the effort and resources they expend immigrating to the West into their native lands instead then perhaps they could affect positive change there and direct their countries to a brighter more prosperous future so that future generations wouldn’t feel compelled to move abroad at all.My friend from Australia wrote this:Name blanked out: ( I blanked out the name of friend who wrote to me from Australia)Sam Arora ji, I have read quite a few of your answers and admire you greatly for your writing skills. You know how to paint a picture with words. The thing I like the most about them is the great details you go to in order to make your point. I have been a recent immigrant to Australia and from what I see as the behaviour of our people in the community my head hangs in shame. Every Indian abroad is an ambassador and every Punjabi outside is an ambassador for Punjab. Except that we are not being good ambassadors. There used to be a time when Punjabis moves to different countries in order to make a better life. And they did it the hard way. Grinding through all odds. Creating success stories. Now all I see are druggies on student visas doing the same things they used to do in Punjab. A sad state indeed. My two cents:Canada has opened a tremendous amount of colleges/universities/ and a lot of private enterprises entered.Canada has lost a lot of industry, the job situation is becoming tight by the day.AndCanada saw its opportunity to get these Cash Cows to recruit from China and India, mostly kids who cannot cut it in those countries due to cut-throat competition.Rest assured the Tsunami is on its way because most of these kids/I have seen some who look kind of middle age,(means much older than the typical student) but pretend students. Once they will be wandering the streets of big cities with these marginal credentials. For further studies:Mark GollomCBC News ·Posted: Dec 23, 2016 5:00 AM ET | Last Updated: December 23, 2016Joginder Bassi, the well-known host of the Gaunda Punjab Radio and TV show, has been the target of intense criticism after he made controversial comments on his weekend television show last month. (Facebook)A popular Toronto-based Punjabi television host has sparked outrage and a social media backlash after suggesting female international students from India are lazy and promiscuous home wreckers and are coming to Canada just to find men and get married.Joginder Bassi, host of the Gaunda Punjab Radio and TV show, has been the target of intense criticism after he made the comments on his weekend television show last month. The controversy stems from a show in November in which a woman called in to complain about international Indian students in Canada. The woman, speaking in Punjabi, said they should cut off the number of students being allowed to enter because they "spread so much garbage around" and "think they can do whatever they want."Bassi responded that these female students don't work, are having babies and are unaware of the father's identity. He also said they're trying to find a guy in Canada to take advantage of, and in the process, ruining families and causing divorces."It's a big problem," Bassi said.As part of the religion and in an effort to ensure no one goes hungry, Sikh temples, known as gurudwaras, offer free food to all people. But Bassi said these students are taking advantage of this practice.Gaunda Punjab host fired:One viewer has expressed his views on the situation:Mausam Ghosh18h agoI’m compelled to believe you based on what I see around myself. If you observe carefully, a sizeable portion of these immigrants absolutely hate India, or at least pretend to do so. Their statements clearly reveal they they are illusioned by the better living standard as compared to their erstwhile native lives. The problem with such immigrants is that they lack gratitude. It’s a matter of time that they get used to this new Canadian lifestyle & feel entitled to this without doing their part. Or even worse, once they get Canadian citizenships, they will start moving to even greener pastures. Then Canada will enjoy the same hatred that India enjoys today. Once again, due to lack of gratitude. These immigrants are certainly not good for any country.ReplyUpvoteSam AroraOriginal Author · 17h agoWelcome to real Canada: It has been turned to ashes one section at a time, wait for the best is yet to come.
