PDF Editor FAQ

What is your review of Michael Moore, the director?

Michael Moore will be remembered as one of the great Documenary filmmakers of all time by many, but there are many spectrums to this.I remember the first time I watched Roger and Me, it was being viewed on PBS, I was blown away, by Moore’s bravery in confronting these men who worked for General Motors and how they ran away, jobs intact, but many of people in Michigan lost their jobs. I thought, “this guy is going to be great in the movie industry, a REAL investigative film maker who brings the truth to the table. But as more movies came, I started to see something different, something that is my opinion and no one else's.Michael Moore takes advantage of the emotions of the sufferers, in my opinion. They don’t have time to really contemplate what they are doing or saying and then it’s too late. When I see Michael Moore, he reminds me of that person who comes in the bathroom, but leaves without washing their hands. They pass the soap, the water, they look at the paper towels and then they touch the door handle after wiping their ass. No guilt in hand. How has he gotten away with making movies that may have gotten others shot by what the media called “mentally ill,” citizens? How has he been allowed to still make movies with such controversial subjects and some would say inaccurately told to the common folk? Well the answer is, Michael Moore brings in money and that’s what it’s all about: MONEY. Hollywood knows this and Hollywood knows this is the game, you make a decision on what you want to see, they don’t force you to watch it or decide if it is correctly feathered, I mean, how many true stories, inspired by true events or books have been ruined by movie adaptations? The truth is always turned around and we can’t blame Michael Moore for this, it’s all about us.I always thought Michael Moore was an enlightened being, taking on society with sword in hand, but swords are heavy and swinging them brings sweat, tears and blood. Throughout his film career, Michael Moore has never taken care of himself. And that has always bothered me, because people with money have no reason, no excuse to be unhealthy. Some might assume, I am speaking of his weight. Yeah…I am, a bit, but more than anything, to me it’s health. As potent this guy is, he is unhealthy. When I look at him, I think of the seven deadly sins and I can’t help but aim my insight into how many of them fit with his persona. Of course that persona may be enriched by what the media portrays of Mr. Moore, but he can change that. When I see him on TV, he reminds me of someone's 80 year old grandmother and I am afraid he is going to fall over and have a heart attack. I just don’t understand why Michael Moore doesnt’ take care of himself in a healthy way. There is nothing wrong with being overweight, but if you look like you’re going to have a heart attack because you are out of shape, there is no excuse for that. This is a man, a great director who has made films on things that he feels are wrong in America, but he hasn’t done one on food, the ill effects of junk food on Children and other chemically and preservative (natural flavored) ingredients that may be affecting people world wide. He made a film on American healthcare, but he hasn’t attacked the food industry.Could this be, because he’d be ruined? If Michael Moore’s films are so positive in bringing change, Why doesn’t he attack the food industry? Or is it because he doesn’t give a fart, because he likes to endulge in food and assumes, we are all going to die someday so just enjoy yourself while you can? I ask this question because back in 2012, Mr. Moore wrote an article on Facebook. It talked about how he was in week 42 of his 30 minute walks. Now I don’t know if he has changed his outlook or stopped walking those 30 minute walks each day, but something odd happened in the post. https://www.facebook.com/story.php?story_fbid=10151165307981857&id=24674986856As he spoke about walking he said someone asked him, “How much weight have you lost?” I am going to post what he said:“I am often asked "How much weight have you lost from all this walking?" For a while I didn't understand the question. I mean, why would I want to lose anything? I have enough trouble finding my keys! Then I got it -- skinny people (1/3 of the country) want us, the majority, to be like them. That's so nice of them. But the truth is, exercise does not work, diets do not work, feeling crummy does not work. Nothing works. My advice: Quit trying to be something you're not, be happy with the life you've been given, and just go for a pleasant walk outside. With me. Wherever you are. Get off the treadmill, stop drinking diet Coke, throw out all the rules. It's all a scam and it conspires to keep you miserable. If it says "low-fat" or "sugar-free" or "just 100 calories!" throw it out. Remember, one of the main tenets of capitalism is to have the consumer filled with fear, insecurity, envy and unhappiness so that we can spend, spend, spend our way out of it and, dammit, just feel better for a little while. But we don't, do we? The path to happiness - and deep down, we all know this -- is created by love, and being kind to oneself, sharing a sense of community with others, becoming a participant instead of a spectator, and being in motion. Moving. Moving around all day. Lifting things, even if it's yourself. Going for a walk every day will change your thinking and have a ripple effect. You'll find yourself only eating when you're truly hungry. And if you're not hungry, go clean your room, or have sex, or call a friend on the phone. Without knowing it, you'll starting eating like the French (there is no French word for "fast-food") -- and you will feel better. You do not feel better admonishing yourself or beating yourself up or setting up a bunch of unrealistic rules and goals with all the do's and dont's that are just begging to be broken. You wanna know something? I eat ice cream every friggin' day. I drink a regular Coke every single day. I put butter on things. But I also walk every day. Some days now, I walk twice. And now I've started to do some push-ups and lifting stuff. It's building muscle, and in doing so, has created an extra furnace to burn stuff and create energy. Weird! That, in turn, makes me sleep 7-8 hours a night which is another game-changer. And all the walking and lifting makes me thirsty, so that makes me drink more water -- another huge plus!”He also went on to say, “ I have no idea how much weight I've lost and I don't care. I don't care about that or diets or home gym equipment or rules about what I can or cannot eat or anything other than making sure I go on my walk today. That's it. That's the big secret. It costs nothing. I feel great. I can see my feet! There they are! Hello, feet! Wanna go for a walk? The feet say YES! Ask yours right now. And if you want, join me. But do NOT go on that walk with me if you are doing so to "get fit", "be healthy", or "lose weight". You are fine just the way you are. Only walk outside with me right now because you know it might just feel good, because it's a beautiful day, or someone is joining in with you, the fresh air is invigorating, you have to drive down to the drug store but you realize you can walk there, or simply because it's just nice to be alive for one more day. Walk to walk and nothing else -- and the other stuff will take care of itself.”52,000 people shared his post on Facebook. he said Excercise is a scam. But he promotes walking 30 minutes a day, he has no idea how much weight he lost and he doesn’t care, but he states he can see his feet, but he says do NOT go on that walk with me if yo are doing so to get fit, be healthy or lose weight…?Michael Moore said, “But the truth is, exercise does not work, diets do not work, feeling crummy does not work. Nothing works.” And this is why people say his facts are off at times. The truth is, Excercise does work, Diet does work, you don’t feel crummy after you exercise, we know this. We also know, working on your diet and eating as correctly as you can, will make help you lose weight and it will stop you from being depressed, because your body is working and you are not overweight, you are don’t depressed and you aren’t worrying what others think of you, because you know you are getting healthier and lengthening your life span. Of course he is correct, Diet Coke and sugar free are scams, but why would he say exercise is a scam when walking 30 minutes in the park is exercise….?Michael Moore, knows that people are lazy and this is why he can state these false statements and this is why 52 thousand people can share his post on Facebook and hundreds of their friends can see the post and agree with Moore’s laziness to lose weight and show everyone that he really means business in the fight for injustices, particularly the one he does to his body. We need to take care of ourselves and live longer, for the least, our children? But he put this to the side, never targets that which is his weakness, but instead promotes to the world, that exercise is a scam and you need to be who you are. I don’t think the majority of people are born overweight or contract diseases that are usually caused by bad eating habits.“Everything is a rich man’s trick,” said by Francis Richard Connolly in his almost 4 hour You tube documentary and Rich men don’t tell on each other, they instead tip their hat to one another and say, “Good one, I never thought of that one….” Do you get it?Michael Moore came to Utah in 2004. He was invited by the student council to speak at Utah Valley University. This was during the election that would rival Bush and Kerry, with Bush winning with many (including Kerry) believing the election was rigged. How ironic, since Moore released his statement and film stating how he felt Trump would win over Hillary because old white men were angry. John Kerry Thinks Bush Rigged The 2004 ElectionEverything is opportunity, The country or media played Moore’s visit to Utah, a conservative state with so called cult like Christian values as something huge, but it really wasn’t. The college where Moore and Sean Hannity would speak (Sean was added later because of the complaints about Moore coming, hoping to balance the liberal conservative scales) did not have any punch in the state for that matter. In fact, at the time UVU was still considered more of a community college or like Salt Lake Community College, “The place to go if you wanted to transfer to BYU or The University of Utah. Every state has “that” school and though UVU is an outstanding school, it was put in the bulleyes as this dominating conservative school and it’s not. It’s a down to earth with some very eclectic professors and instructors that happens to be located in an area where many conservatives and wannabes reside. I think the student council knew this and took advantage of this, because Moore never would have made it to a podium at BYU or The U. But something fascinating happened. Rosanne Barr showed up for a guest appearance, a past resident of Utah. When the rally started, there were no angry mobs against the liberal, but only a few boos here and there. Moore sported a UVU hat and talked about how he was excited that Kerry would be elected and there wouldn’t be four more years of bush! The papers made the post event seem as dangerous as the a gun fight in the old west, but like most things in Utah, this never happened. Moore invite fires up UVSCAnd even more profitable, Moore wasn’t even scheduled to hit Utah on his 61 tour stop, but was talked into coming by the two student council members who spent the 50,000 dollar budget to pay for Moore to talk. To make things more worse or as some will call “Naive Utah caught in the blindness of it’s only bubble), Sean Hannity waived his speaking fee, but made (not sure if they paid)UVU pay for his traveling expensive, which hit a whopping 50,000 dollars! Did you know that the state of Utah is hit with more scams than anywhere else in the world…and the residents have a tendency to fall for them. Now am I calling this a scam, set up by Moore or even Hannity? Nope, It’s called business. And if you know that someone is going to pay thousands of dollars for you to speak about President Bush (and that’s the only thing he spoke about), speaking about how horrible of a president he is…while in a conservative area…well, can you blame anyone?Could it be the greatest joke of them all, a man who makes movies on how Americans care taken advantage of by the rich, comes to a state flowing with money and milks thousands of dollars out of those who have it, like Robin Hood, riding naked on a donkeys ass through the Sherwood Forest? I ask this, because I believe some thought that, as one of Utah’s richest Real estate moguls offered UVU 25,000 to stop Moore from speaking. Perhap he saw the greatest joke about to happen and knew the money UVU would lose, not only to Moore but to Hannity also. An article was written about Moores visit in 2014…ten years later with the two student council members relating on the past. http://www.heraldextra.com/news/local/education/college/uvu/ten-years-after-michael-moore-former-students-say-academic-freedom/article_1be16a57-1286-5e6b-b0fc-ece086f46db2.htmlOne of the Student councils also wrote a book on the event. Free Speech 101: The Utah Valley Uproar over Michael Moore Free Speech 101: The Utah Valley Uproar over Michael Moore: Joseph Vogel: 9781886249318: Amazon.com: BooksBut the fact is, the only Uproar was in Utah, nowhere else. NOWHERE. No one cared, no one cared in Utah either. It was a sham of sham, a money making profitable venue and those who were smart and knew it would promote their future interest, whether that be movies or news talk shows or a documentary. That's right, a documentary was made by a BYU student who probably saw the typical mockery being made of the state of Utah, it was called This Divided State This Divided State - Wikipedia It told the story of what happened, the money lost from Hannity and Moore’s visit, the protest from Real estate Mogul Kay Anderson who tried to stop Director Steven Greenstreet from featuring him in the documentary (didn’t happen) and basically how Utahns are so self absorbed within theirselves, they get shit on every time. The film wasn’t a success in any way. It was shown in 20 major cities, probably for a day or weekend, but it did nothing worthwhile, except one thing. Don’t get me wrong…I am not kicking Greenstreet…this kid, maxed out his credit cards with four other people, used his neighbors wifi illegally and eventually got his movie on DVD and probably Netflix, but I ask you this question:Did Michael Moore make him? Is this what we have become or resolved to become, basically copy cat others techniques in making movies, hopping we can become as powerful and as rich as they are? Look at where it ended and you’d never have known this much Disinformation if I hadn’t told you, right?Does Michael Moore stand up to what we think he should stand up for? Does he have a charity, does he help those he has spoken about in his movies? Is he a philanthropist who is going to give half of his money away? I mean, does he or anyone else really need all that money and for someone who is heralded as Robin Hood….does he stick by those standards or is it all a sham? Surprising facts about the filmmaker Michael Moore, from the book ”Do As I Say (Not As I Do)”I am not sure, but telling you my point of view and it’s only that, I find it comical, seeing this guy make a movie about men in Michigan fired people who relied on the rich to provide them with a job when Napolean Hill stated in his book, Think and Grow Rich, “every man should take correspondence courses to learn a different trade, unless he one day lose his line of work.” I read this years after I saw Roger and Me, and when I read it, ironically it made me think of that movie, how we as Americans obtain jobs that pay large wages, become comfortable in our occupation, buying large homes and diesel pick ups, never assuming the day will come, when we lose that job, to lay off, old age or injury. And I wondered if Roger Moore knew this when he interviewed those workers or why he did not ask them: “Why don’t you have a back up plan…?” It makes me think of all othe workers who have migrated to WYoming or North Dakota being employed by oil companies, Do they have a back up plan, did they see Roger and Me, have they Read Napolean Hill’s book or will they end up the victims of a new Moore Movie when they are laid off? It’s a rich mans Trick and Rich men are smart. With all respect to Michael Moore as a Film maker, he seems exceptionally genuine, but it seems the sacrifice is always the people in his movies. He showed us what we have thought in 911 and bowling for Columbine, that the red neck hillbillies is just that at times. Shooting innocents civilians in other countries (during war) like gophers on a hill in Montana. He showed us that CEOs will cut you high and low, leaving you unprepared (your fault) and homeless, he has shown us what we always knew, Healthcare insurance is the real scam, but he still seems to be like all the others who have money, they don’t want to really let it go and show us, they really care about the common folk, when will he make a sacrifice and show us he really wants to move mountains, something you can’t do from walking 30 minutes a day, but instead making a movie that shows how to make a country great again…something you can’t do if you are holding onto money and not taking care of your health.Ramble on and forgive any grammar..I just can’t reread this.Edit” for the record, The best thing that came out or the Utah Fiasco was Student Council member Joseph Vogel, who would go on to write other books and how is also an Assistant Professor at a college in MA. Not Utah…no where near Utah. http://www.joevogel.net/
