Where did you prepare for English for the SSC 2018?

English didn't take much effort for me. I socred 168.75 marks in CGL2017 mains English. But i had prepared seriously for CGL17, while for CGL18 i didn't/couldn't put my 100%. But my score in CGL18 mains English was 197.50 raw and 202+ after normalisation. So i will answer your question in two parts.First part, is about how I prepared for CGL2017 English.Second, I will tell you how I took my score from 168 to 197.I come from a village , have studied till 12th in my village, but my parents are from Kolkata. They graduated from Kolkata University. So even though we had to shift to a rajasthan village for unforeseen circumstances, my parents ensured I get a good upbringing. My mother taught me English at home as good quality education solely from a school in my hometown wasn't enough back then. And we couldn't afford private tuition at that time. So from early childhood I had developed interest in English. But over the time i lost touch with it because school curriculum didn't have much to offer.Hence my parents used to make me read their own books. My mother is a graduate in MA English Literature so I was exposed to Keats, Shakespeare, beacon from an inquisitive age. I couldn't obviously study them because their language was damn hard. But it increased my interest in learning this language. Then watching Cricket commentary helped, lol.So when i went to college for the first time, i wasn't completely a village guy, struggling to speak the language of gods (as English is treated in semi urban tier 3 college, lol). But then , in engineering, you just cram so again English curriculum was of no use, just as school. So i kept reading on my own. I started reading Osho, Dan brown, Paulo Coelho, Ashwin sanghi, Agatha Christie, Sidney Sheldon, Amish Tripathi etc. This improved my sense of *grammer* and use of particular word. When i prepared for CGL 2017, I simply relied on mocks. Because I can't understand grammer in any book, i was never taught that way. So I was making errors in many questions related to “Find grammatical error, sentence improvement and cloze tests”. To improve my score i bought MB Publication book and solved 15 around tier 2 mocks. That was my preparation for English in CGL2017. And i ended up with 169 around marks. I wasn't happy with it as many had scored 180+ that time. I felt I was around 15 marks short.Second, after tier 1 score of CGL 2018, i took 2 weeks leave from job and started preparation. Ad I wasn't a newcomer i had experience to help me prepare in short span of time.First thing I did was, to evaluate and analyse my cgl17 mains performance. I did exactly that. I analysed what went wrong and here are the pinpoints i made,My first mistake was to ignore passages and cloze test completely.Second mistake was to, not solve any para jumble during mocks. It did cost me 11 marks in CGL 17 mains.Third mistake was to, finish entire paper in 60–70 minutes and submit the mocks. I did the same in mains exam as well. I had 40+ minutes remaining in main exam and i just wasted them. So, this is how I prepared for CGL18 mains English. I made a clear target of scoring 185+ marks. For that, i could afford only 12 wrong answers at most. So first rule was, not to play on luck. Second rule was, to finish paper in 60 minutes. I attempted only those questions which didn't take time, like error, idioms, cloze etc. Left passages and para jumble fot later. Third rule was to, read passage twice before going for questions. Fourth and most important rule was, to not sit idle and solve paper again and again in the remaining time.So I made an index. I wrote my score on that index. I kept attempting one mock of English everyday for last 14–15 days. I used testbook mocks. Whenever my score fell below 170, i used to be infuriated with myself. I would see my mistakes, write them down in a separate book. Sometimes i took screenshot whenever i took mock on mobile. That was my preparation for Mains exam. In exam hall, I solved the entire paper twice. I kept on doing para jumbls again and again as they cost me dearly in CGl17. Although i got 2 vocab questions wrong but i think it happens with everyone.See, my preparation was different than how it's expected to be. But i can sincerely say that there is not a single strategy which can help every aspirant the same way. You have to see what are your weak aspects and what are your strengths. At the end, I don't intend to say that scoring in English is very easy thing to do. The gist of my answer is, that, you have to recognise your mistakes. Only if you acknowledge them, then you have the chance to improve. If you keep repeating the same mistakes, your score will not improve.I don't know how good your background preparation is, so i will suggest you to focus on good quality of content. Rely on good mocks only. Don't read much. Focus on mocks more than anything else. Read. Read a lot. Read a newspaper, read novels, read books, read answers here or there, but read. Only by reading will you understand the basics of a language. Your grammer, your vocab, your sentence improvement, cloze test will automatically improve if you focus on reading. For active passive and direct indirect, you will need to read from books though. At the end, don't worry much about vocab part. I find them a waste of time. Idioms one word etc will be taken care of by mocks.Prepare hard.. good luck.. and i repeat, my answer is not for bragging or anything, it is just to say that, there is no strategy that can help each and every aspirant. It's not possible. Your strategy should be based on your own analysis. I have suggest many aspirants to work on analysis for a week and then tell me their analysis whenever they msg me for tips. But till now, not a single aspirant has replied me with his analysis. Just think, aspirants aren't willing to do a 3–5 day efforts to analyse themselves, so how can you be sure that a strategy will help everyone equally..? So do your own analysis, and then make a plan.Good luck.. March 2 isn't far… prepare hard..!

After a quick search, downloaded the software and a paid license. While I couldn’t retrieve the files I accidentally deleted, what I didn’t expect was the level of support and engagement from the company’s support team. After reviewing my situation they proactively offered a full refund (which I didn’t ask or have to ask but grateful for) Thank you!
