PDF Editor FAQ

Is the best way to tell if someone is crazy is if they don't admit to being crazy?

I think the best way to determine if someone is crazy…is to (if you dare) ask them to break down in simplest of terms…all the logic and reasoning and proof of their statements. If you can then see everything from their perspective…youll see that they arent crazy. However you risk losing your blissful ignorance in the process. The best way (in my opinion) would be to let them vent, but try your best not to respond or analyze or interpret or process all of which they say. Let them know that they have a support system if you intend to be a part of it. Let them know what resources are available to them. If they give reasons as to why those resources wont work for them…dont then denounce all of their claims. Chances are...they have reasons as to why they cant use whatever resources most people can…hence why they appear crazy is because they cant get the help they need. Everyone claims they are “making excuses” or that they are liars....this doesnt help anyone. If they ask you an odd question or a seemingly stupid and obvious question…answer it in as simple and honest of a way that you can. If they ask you…how many days in a year. Answer honestly without any kind of emotion behind your response. Crazy people are looking usually for validation in what reality actually is. They are seeking certainty…both in that their problems are real, their situation is difficult, and that they are the problem…not society's design.Often times they will have extreme hyper vigiliance and awareness and tunnel vision. They will group everyone into either a “against them” or “an enemy”. They will take any sign of someone else's disbelief as a sign of hostility or judgement or an insult. You need to let them know that you want to write down with them what issues they are facing. Here is an example of a template one can use.Plan for StabilityWhat is your current financial situation?Have them right down their total income…if any…their total expenses…what resources they do have in terms of getting their basic needs met. Do they have a decent credit score?Do you have a valid form of identification? Medical Insurance? Checking account?Lack of either of these can pose potential problems in the immediate and long term future for anyone trying to restabilize. Are you sober, if not what are you taking, how long has it been since you were last sober? How often do you use? What is your state of sobriety right now? This isnt to judge, this is to figure out how to proceed with what they say to you. For example…if someone is really drunk and cant seem to stabilize...then when they talk to you, they probably wont remember your conversation. Wait until they are clear headed and present before you ask anymore questions. If they are on psychadelics or designer drugs or spice or stimulants…then take what they say with a grain of salt and keep in mind they are probably experiencing tunnel vision and think that everyone and everything done to them is deliberate and planned.Do you have any pre-existing diagnosed mental disorders or any psychological dehabilitating factors in which you require medication or constant therapy in order to manage your symptoms? If someone has a history of trauma and abuse, then they will be prone to having trust issues. They will be likely to avoid situations, places, or people who trigger those events or memories. For some people that means avoiding shelters. Avoiding trailer parks, churches, military housing units...etc. Conventional means of housing assistance for below poverty individuals…might pose an extreme danger to their psyche and ve a very triggering environment for them. Have patience and definitely understanding with people who struggle from PTSD where triggers are environmentally based. Imagine the only place you could find housing was in a church and your PTSD came from abuse you went through in Catholic School. That would be hell for that person.Do they have access to their medication? What are the side effects? Do they interact poorly with any street drugs or self medications they consume?Do they have pre existing mental conditions that effect the way they communicate?Do you have a family that can support you emotionally or fiancially?Sometimes people dont have a support system. This makes life even more stressful and confusing and scary. Especially during a time of crisis when they need someone to help them and guide them. What is your employment history like? What skills, talents, abilities, or experiences do you possess?Work helps everyone maintain structure in their life as well as income. This is a key factor towards maintaining any level of sanity. Our brain likes routines. It craves certainty in its environment because that is its baseline. Wake up, go to work, go home, eat, and sleep. Rinse and repeat! If one has had that for 10 years and then suddenly finds themselves penniless and homeless and attempting to achieve sanity and stability…the sudden change would instill a lot of anxiety, fear, confusion etc. It would be a culture shock for them. When people are used to a norm of stability…most wouldnt know how to handle such an extreme change in their life. Are they afraid of psychiatrists? Being locked up in a mental institution or room or jail? Are they paranoid of everyone? Some people have PTSD where their triggers are linked to being unable to move from a room or situation or environment for long periods of time. The idea of being locked up or thrown into an asylum is even more detrimental to their psyche. What people wnat or need in life is usually the ability to choose when and where they get to go in life. Jail or psyche wards remove people of that ability.Have they just experienced a loss in their personal life? Have they just gone through traumatic experience? Or just recently recollected traumatic memories from their childhood? They dont need to go into detail about any of these questions…unless doing so would help ease their mind. Make sure you know what it is your mind can handle in terms of listening to traumatic stories. If it is too much for you….let them know right off the bat. Otherwise, keep in mind that if they are experiencing PTSD…they could be suffering from: paranoia, anxiety, audio hallucinations, visual hallucinations, nightmares, memories playing in their head on repeat about the event, delusions, psychoses, identity issues, belief that everyone wants to hurt them, feeling isolated, feeling worthless, feeling dirty, betrayed, used, misunderstood, misrepresented, robbed of their innocence, alone, helpless. If this is one of their issues they are struggling with, suggest that they seek out a support group for what they are going through. Sometimes people dont want therapy, they just want to know that they arent alone and that others have gone through similar experiences and are living healthy fulfilling lives. Now go through a list of what is necessary for them to take the next steps towards stabilization. Come up with a time sheet and budget based on their situation. Find out what they need to achieve each step, and what alternatives can be implemented if they dont have access to the necessary resources.Let them know that it is okay if they dont make progress everyday. If they have a day where they dont get anything done…dont beat yourself up for it. (This applies to everyone in life). Life shouldnt be about making progress everyday or youre wasting your life away or time that could be spent climbing the ladder....cherish all moments you have where you get the oppurtunity to live life! Dont feel guilty about a day you chose to go out to a bar when you know you had work the next day. You need to allow yourself time to enjoy other people, yourself, and take chances and oppurtunities you might never get again! Thats living life. Taking risks, taking chances, being spontaneous when it feels right, not being afraid of starting over, not being afraid of trying new things and discovring who you are and what you like as a person. We shouldnt be slaving away for the first 3 quarters of our life to enjoy the last 1 quarter of our life. Enjoy life while you are young. Do things you can now while you still have the oppurtunity to do so.And if you dont make progress in one day that you planned.....remember this:Nobody is going to be so critical of your progress other than you.No one is going to even know of your progress or lack thereof…other than you.The entire infrastructure of the human race is not going to crumble and fall and spontaneously implode because you didn't get to finish that one school assignment in time.Look at the progress you made over the course of the last week or month or year. You will find that mere observation to be very effective in elevating your overall mood.

The three most common answers to that question are freelancers, remote employees, or a team from an offshoring vendor.Breaking down the pros and cons of these hiring options will help make the right choice.Pros of choosing freelancers:Hiring freelancers is often the most cost-efficient way to gain access to a worldwide base of knowledge and skills. You don’t have to pay for workplace appliances, perks, and benefits, etc. — you only pay for the job itself. There are fewer responsibilities as an employer; once the project is delivered, the work relationship is either ended or paused until you collaborate on some project in the future.Cons of choosing freelance developers:The managerial overhead of keeping track of multiple tasks done by separate contractors.Potential data security issues created by providing complete outsiders with access to mission-critical systems.Unless they are long-term partners deeply engaged in the company events and strategy, freelancers are less personally invested in the long-term success of your endeavor due to the temporary nature of their employment.Pros of choosing to work with remote teams:You form productive and engaged teams ready for a long-term commitment. The expertise gained during the project stays within the company.Employees working remotely often cost less, as they don’t require office expenses and other benefits.Cons of choosing to work with remote teams:It involves all the pains and hurdles of hiring employees and forming teams out of them.If they fall ill, go on vacation, or quit, corresponding parts of your project are halted. It can be difficult to accurately estimate their performance and productivity.Pros of outstaffing/outsourcing:Instant access to ready teams possessing the needed expertise.Ready solutions to minimize time-to-value for your projects. The technology vendor takes care of the team’s motivation, perks, benefits, and replacement if need be.Cons of outstaffing/outsourcing:You might experience management complexities.Cultural differences may set teams apart.Relevant has also published an article on the pros and cons of the three most popular ways to extend your software development team. They take their screening very seriously, so you will work with the best talents — if you’re able to book them.Goodfirms. A reputed rating of IT outsourcing providers based on unbiased evaluation of their performance and on customer reviews.Pick any of these, and you will definitely find the needed expertise. However, there are several considerations to be aware of.Things You Should Consider Before Hiring Mobile DevelopersRelevant has covered the hiring process in more detail in our guide on how to hire a mobile app developer. The more concise and precise the specification, the better the chance of nailing it with the product features.Hiring iOS DevelopersApple wants iOS app development to remain standardized, so it all boils down to learning to work with Swift and Objective-C. This is why good iOS developers need to know the following:OOP principles, SOLIDiOS SDK (software development kit) and UI kitMultithreading, geolocation, networking, Apple purchase, APNS, and Core DataWorking with GIT version control system (VCS)Using Swift testing toolsOn average, iOS developers cost around $80,000/year in the EU and above $120,000 in the US. In Ukraine, you can hire a senior iOS developer for as low as $48,000/year. If you’re looking to develop a mobile app for iOS, Relevant has written a detailed guide on what to look for in an iOS developer. It includes how to evaluate their hard and soft skills, what questions to ask during the interview, and more.Hiring Android DevelopersAndroid is a much more open ecosystem and is used by a wide variety of mobile device manufacturers. An Android developer must be able to write consistent, clear, and reusable code, and be proficient in:Java or KotlinAndroid SDK, as it is the basic set of tools and principlesWork with APIs, as these apps must interact with a ton of software through APIsUnderstand the back end, as this element can be pretty complex in Android appsAndroid developers are traditionally in a costly segment of a job market, with annual salaries reaching up to $130,000. Feel free to take a look at it!Hiring Flutter Developers for Cross-Platform DevelopmentGoogle positions Flutter as a unified SDK for web and mobile apps, and as Google and its Chrome browser are the most popular Internet tools today, Flutter could be the way the web will evolve. As of now, Flutter developers can create apps that work equally well on mobile and desktop. However, to do that, the developers must possess the following skills:Knowledge of (and excitement for) FlutterExperience in Android and/or iOS developmentExperience with version control tools like GitBased on findings by Indeed, Flutter developer salaries can range up to $130,000/year in the US. We hope this review will help you find the best fit for your project.Bottom LineWhen outsourcing mobile app development to freelancers, remote employees, or offshoring teams, you need to keep an eye on a variety of factors like:Practical experience. IT offshoring vendors are doing similar projects all the time, meaning they can use ready solutions instead of reinventing the wheel, which saves you time and money.Talent availability. Permanent mobile app development teams provide access to a wide talent pool with a proven track record, meaning you get the level of expertise required to successfully complete your project.Project management. Managing multiple freelancers that work on your project is a gruesome task. Working with remote teams requires a significant effort, but leaves the expertise in-house. With offshoring vendors, you obtain the expertise for the project duration and then part ways — but can easily contact them (or any other vendor) again if the need arises.Hard skill assessment. The guides we mentioned earlier provide checklists of the main interview questions you can use to evaluate a mobile developer’s expertise.Risk management. If a freelancer or a remote employee quits, your project is at risk. With offshoring vendors, team member replacement is their concern, and you are protected by legal agreements. We’re sure this article will address the main questions and concerns you might have about how to hire skilled mobile developers.Speaking of developers, why not work with us? What we know about the likelihood of developing cancer is based on large population studies but you cannot predict an individual’s chance of getting cancer based on those population studies. We do know, based on population studies, that there are things you can do to reduce the likelihood of developing cancer- exercise regularly with enough intensity to derive health benefits-like keeping your weight at a healthy level, eat a varied, balanced diet of mostly plants, plenty of fresh fruits and vegetables, protect yourself from excess sun exposure, minimize intake of alcohol, don’t smoke, and stay mentally and socially active in your community. If you have any existing mental health conditions, make sure they are well-managed so you are functioning optimally.2. Prepare. Two examples are the National Cancer Institute or the National Institutes of Health, also American Society of Clinical Oncology. The other thing you need to do is prepare yourself, in case you ever are diagnosed, you should have a few things in place ahead of time- designate a few people in your life to be your advocate, helper, errand-runner, support system. Don’t lay all the burden on one person. For example, a trusted neighbor, or someone you know well from the community or your church. You can agree to do the same for them if they ever need it. If you have those contingency plans in place, and some good resources to go to ahead of time, it will make the cancer diagnosis and early treatment process much less of a shock and less traumatic for you and your family.3. Prehab. Finally, being in as good physical and mental condition ahead of time will put you ahead of most people if you ever have to go through treatment for cancer. The better physical condition you’re in, you will tolerate treatment much better (and keeping active during treatment is important too!). And if you have any mental health conditions such as depression, anxiety,or others, if those are well-controlled ahead of time, it will make it easier for you to withstand the physical and emotional burden of cancer treatment and will be more likely to have a better outcome. The Prevent-Prepare- and Prehab method of cancer survivorship provides a template for being as prepared as possible ahead of time, with minimal effort. If you want to know more about that, my book, Navigating the C, goes into detail about how you can best prepare yourself for your own or a loved one’s cancer diagnosis.
