The backlash isn’t against Meghan and Harry having a “charitable” foundation, it has to do with the timing, or rather, poor timing, of their announcement.Meghan let the news about Archewell out this past week, one day after Queen Elizabeth spoke to her country directly on television, telling the people of the UK to stand firm, resolute and together they will beat this pandemic. Only one of five addresses to the nation, not counting the pre-recorded Christmas speech the Queen gives each year, so this speech was a big deal.And appropriate. Those countries being slammed by the coronavirus need assurance, and Boris Johnson was in the ICU at the time of Queen Elizabeth’s speech, so the country was on edge. No news was being released about the Prime Minister’s condition, which meant bad news, so it fell to the Queen to steady a nervous nation. And she did.Just one look at the headlines the world over is enough to make the hair on the back of our necks prickle. Will we be in lockdown for months? Will loved ones live? How do we feed all the hungry people in our country and all over this hurting world? Did you read about this second wave of adolescent locusts in Africa who are devouring more than their dead parents consumed a few months ago. Crops are being eaten by them. Everyone is suffering, somehow.Even I think I have a case of Covid 19, and yes, I’m hoping it stays steady. What a crazy time. We are scared, nervous, perplexed, worried, concerned, struggling and stressed. We are not around our loved ones, we cannot see friends, we have to wear masks, but just where do we find them now? Everywhere we turn we meet needy people, and if we don’t, we’re not looking enough.Prince William and Catherine are using Zoom and Skype to let the doctors and nurses on the front lines that their work is the most important, they are valued and recognized, even if they feel utterly overwhelmed. William and Catherine are also home-schooling two children, while they try to help as much as they can.And then we have Harry and Meghan. Telling the world that hey, they have a new foundation launch on the horizon, and yes, it is named for their ultra-private child, Archewll.The couple must not know what is going on in the world? Except they certainly are not the ones grocery shopping for fear of germs! Do they know why they aren’t supposed to go out much, even though we all go to the grocery store because we need cough syrup or bread? Why did they release this unimportant information now?So the backlash is because the couple makes us see, once again, that they actually believe the world revolves around them. They must believe our first thought in the morning is “How is Meghan today?” “Is Harry safe and feeling healthy, because at thirty-five and in good health, he might fall ill. Is Archie, the hidden one, safe? Are they happy?” And we don’t think that. Why doesn’t hapless Harry and megalomaniac Meg think about us?A wellness foundation? Start by going and packing up the food for the hungry and poor. Use your hands, because you can afford to do that work. You’re not saddled with pre-existing conditions. Get out there and work. And if not, then give money. I just gave some to the Freestore Foodbank. We all need to give, and we don’t need to hear about the bumbling couple’s money making foundation that we don’t need right now.Come back in a year. But now? Noooo!Give. As a person with active lupus and now breathing issues and pain, I am not worried about how bored Meghan is. Who cares? Why even speak though that group of “friends” or Omid Scobie? Just. stop. please.That is why there is a backlash. This pampered, insulated, protected couple with so much money should not post any news about their money making projects. Any star sending out news like this is being castrated.So, the Meghan loves, it’s not all about her. All celebs strutting out there looking happy and promoting themselves are being universally hated, because they need to humble themselves and stop thinking they are more important than the homeless guy they drive by on the street. Who probably is going to catch the virus.Harry and Meghan have terrible timing. They ought to study Queen Elizabeth. Shame. They could have learned so much from her about class and dignity and real humility, but they left for self-adulation. This is truth. And if anyone calls this bullying, the bully started this. Her name is Meghan, and she leaves a trail of hurt and stunned people in her wake. I think Harry signed up for her program on how to have terrible timing and make everything about you.As long as I can draw breath, I can say with certainty, I do not want to sign up for their program. Feeding America has opportunities throughout the country. Youngsters can go on the internet and discover the locations in their local community where they can go to and do something as simple as bag non-perishables which will be going out to local Agencies to distribute to those in need.
