Don’t know the legal point of view.However considering that a company has direct deposit for all its employees they would not want to do an exception for you as it causes “trouble” in work flow for the accountants. From Internal Control point of view too this will be problematic.You might want to check with your payroll department.However I must say - Direct Deposit is way better way to get paid. In the companies that issue checks - the payee some times see “HOLD” on deposit and funds are not available for 14 days which causes lot of distress.
