Thanks to you for realizing the fact that you hear no news about NE in Newspapers or National TVs. So you can understand how these 8 states have been ignored over the years by diff Govt.. I don’t need to tell anyone about the natural beauty it possesses and the revenue it can generate through tourism. However, I would like to be specific to your question. Few of the names that I’m mentioning below can give you a glimse of the talent of the NE people.Baichung Bhutia, Arnab Goswami, Somdev Devvarman, Irom Sharmila, Bhupen Hazarika, Danny Denzongpa, PA Sangma, SD Burman, RD Burman, Mamoni Raisom Goswami, Kiran Rijuji, MC Mary Kom, Protima Pandey, etc..These are just some of the names that I recall, there are many more. I request you to google the names and find the contribution of each person so that you don’t have a complaint about not knowing anything about the North East.NE India comprises of 8 states but still no one knows about it. I’m sure that even you won’t be able to name the states and the capitals without using Google. I still remember when I found it so hard to make my landlord understand that there was also a state called Meghalaya and not just Assam in the entire NE.It is the apathy of the successive Indian Govt. because of which NE India has been suffering so much. We were never a part of mainland India because of which unemployment grew and extremism increased.Let’s work for the betterment of one country called India and not divide this country with different geographical areas.Proud to be an Indian first!!

Special category status is a classification given by Central Government to assist the development in certain states which fits the criteria as follows, as proposed by the 5th Finance Commision:i) hilly terrain;ii) low population density and/or sizeable share of tribal population;iii) strategic location along borders with neighboring countries;iv) economic and infrastructure backwardness; andv) non-viable nature of State finances.In other words, helping a poor man to stand on his own feet.Does AP qualify any of the above points? Lets check:i) Hilly terrain - No, AP is not a state of the hilly terrains.ii) Density of population is better and the share of the tribal population is less compared to the NE states.iii) No sharing of borders with neighboring countries, only sea route.iv) With the loss of Hyderabad AP is backward both economically and infrastructure wise.v) If you think that AP has viable financial resources please let me know.Let me remind you what happened during the bifurcation of AP.They, the UPA, told us that they will provide something like:1. National project status to Polavaram.2. A railway zone in Vishakapatnam.3. Revenue deficit in 2014-2015.4. New Capital5. Vizag - Chennai Industrial Corridor.6. Educational institutions.7. Metro Rail.8. Infrastructure.Those are the eight important ones that are included in the AP reorganization act.Later the then PM of Indian Dr.ManMohan Singh promised Special Category Status for 5 years which was not added to the Act. But during campaign PM Modi, then the potential candidate for the office told us that a special status will be provided to AP.The NDA government said the special package will be provided instead of special category status. They assured that every promise will be fulfilled.After this, they ignored us like we are not Indians. We are not provided enough resources in the budget. Even for the capital construction. I am not pouring the stats here. Everyone knows what they gave us.We are not begging, it is our RIGHT.It is the DUTY of the Central to give us what we were promised.Delhi has lost the trust of TN already. If we were denied what we were promised, they may lose AP also.We have to fulfill social welfare schemes as we did prior division of the state.We don't want special status, we want resources. We can build a better state within a decade if we are given with enough resources. We can create more jobs than any state.
