In a small town a Missouri a witness was asked if he was related to the defendant. The witness, believed to be the husband of the woman, answered “No, sir.” The court house full of people began murmuring. The judge pounded his gavel and the witness explained, “If I was related to her then I couldn’t of married her.”Another time I was representing myself in a traffic violation. I had moved to have the ticket dismissed because it did not meet all the requirements as set forth in the Missouri Rules of Court- the ticket did not have the address of the court house. The prosecuting attorney pointed out that obviously I had found the courthouse so he didn’t see any reason to dismiss the ticket on that account. The judge agreed. I waited a moment (timing is everything) and then picked up the Rules of Court and told the judge that I was new at this and asked him if he could highlight all the other rules that he did not consider worth abiding by. He quickly realized that he was bound by law to dismiss my ticket. The prosecuting attorney was rather put out and had the ticket re-issued. It took them three times to get it right.

I got engaged to my fiancé & we decided to keep it a secret for awhile. Our families & friends didn't know how serious we had become. He had to go to Missouri for the summer to pack & tie up loose ends. We were both busy so not talking for a few days wasn't a cause for concern so i didn't even learn of his death until days after. That night I layed in bed & tried to cry myself to sleep. With him on my mind his face in my memories & thinking of everything I had just lost, i didn't know how I was to keep going. I cried out his name & asked how he could leave me. Sadness turned into anger. All of the sudden I felt my body warm. All through me. From head to my toes. It was something i had never felt before then i felt something wrap around me & gently squeeze. I even thought i heard his voice for a split second. I actually turned and looked expecting something to be there. I knew it was him comforting me. And it dissapeared as fast as it came.

I would say yes, sometimes. There is some case in the south, Missouri, I think. Some local bully had been terrorizing the town for decades. Rape, burglaries, thefts, assaults. He was never convicted because he would intimidate the witnesses. He even shot some guy and was intimidating him and the local pastor. One day, broad daylight, he was shot from at least two guns, from at least two directions, in front of over 30 people. No arrests made. I sympathize with those people.
