There is no direction given from those taking the lead to buy a keychain, bracelet, etc. to notify others of your desire not to receive blood if you are unable to speak for yourself.The direction we are given is to keep a fully executed Advanced Health Care Directive (AHCD) on you, for these circumstances. Also, it’s important to discuss this information IN DETAIL with your personal physician, so he can honor your wishes as well as advocate for you. In other countries, the legal name for an AHCD may be different.A hospital may not honor a keychain or a bracelet. It is not a legal document. An AHCD is a legally binding document that must be honoredAs a paramedic and a first responder, I don’t look for key chains on patients who can’t speak. I look for a wallet or a cellular phone (ID, medical doctor cards, medical insurance cards, emergency contact info, AHCD, lists of prescribed medicines).Your desire to be prepared is to be commended. In order to properly answer this question I would like/need further information/clarification? I was just wondering what you mean by AHCD? In the healthcare field the acronym AHCD​ stands for Advanced Health Care Directive.I don't want to assume so that is why I asked for clarification. Did you mean Attention Deficit Hyperactive Disorder (ADHD), Attention Deficit Disorder (ADD), Obsessive Compulsive Disorder (OCD), or did you possibly mean Attention Hyperactive Compulsive Disorder (AHCD)? The reason I included that final one was because I'm assuming that is what you possibly meant.“AHCD” is not a current diagnosis recognized in the medical field. There is some discussion about possible comorbidity between ADHD​ and OCD but, again, there is no recognition as it being its own diagnosis. Although, because of a possibility of there being a comorbidity between the two there is the possibility of a patient receiving a dual-diagnosis.

Aloha ,It enables the person you wish to talk for you in the case of an accident or such and you are unable to confirm your wishes as to an operation or how to deal with your needs for care . I was in a coma for 2 month one time and My DPO and AHCD were used to be sure my wishes were followed .I did awake 2 months later . It was a while before I got the details of what happened . But without those documents , it would have been very hard for someone to make the decisions needed .Information should be up-dated and copies given to your doctor and congregation for your wishes to be enacted .
