We survived the 1994 economic crisis in Mexico, the 1997 crisis in Asia, the Y2K crisis, the 2001 Dot Com bubble, the 2008 financial meltdown, and many political crises along the way.This COVID-19 economic impact is massive in every imaginable way.We have closed all our locations and sent ALL employees home. This means ZERO INCOME for a length of time I still don’t know.In the meantime, I have promised my team that everyone will still receive their weekly paycheck. I have twenty-seven amazing employees — nobody will get laid off, I’m committed to supporting all of them through this difficult time.Today I had to inject cash to meet payroll. It’s scary because I still don't know how much cash this will demand from my pocket to keep this “boat” afloat for the next several weeks. I pray this won’t last several weeks and that I may be able to support this financial burden to get us back up and running again.Today I invested several hours guiding my team, making cash flow projections and negotiating with vendors. It’s a time of sacrifice. We ALL need to support each other.To answer your question, what will be the economic effects of the coronavirus?Honestly, any small business that survives this one will be a miracle!The long term effect will also be a challenge. If people lose their income, they stop consuming. If they stop consuming, businesses die. If businesses die, there’s no employment. If there's no employment, the depressive cycle accelerates and it becomes a massive economic problem.Back in 2008, I lived through the financial meltdown where I suffered massive losses on a multimillion-dollar real estate development project.I learned a lot from that crisis. Recently i read an article on impact of reservations of neet students.My neet score is 520 with almost rank 77,000 . I know I will not get any college even in State quota. But there is one of my friend whose score is 490. And surprisingly he will get college and that too with all india quota. One another friend whose score is 580, he is also not getting any college even with state quota. Can you see the difference.
