What are some high profile Lisp-based products or projects that have been built in the past 10 years?

http://www.Cleartrip.com Air fare search was built in Common Lisp. It was the fastest air search at that time, reducing search times from an average of 60 seconds to about 10 seconds. It got Cleartrip into the top 3 of the Indian OTA market.Dynamic Analysis and Replanning Tool (DART) was written in Common Lisp. Saved the US military a heck lot of money.Mirai (software) used to model the character of Gholum in the move Lord of the Rings.

Which was the most effective of the early supersonic fighters: English Electric Lightning, F104 Starfighter, F106 Delta Dart, Mig 21, or Dassault Mirage?

Most effective at what? Each of these aircraft had their own strengths and weaknesses and their own country's policies to dictate their use. And each one can triumph over another with a skilled pilot and proper strategy. The English Electric Lightning was certainly a unique aircraft with its over-under engine layout and it was damn powerful. It was a dragier airframe but its two engines could push it to Mach 2 regardless. However it was limited in its range and endurance which restricted its usefulness beyond a short range home defense interceptor. They tried to extend its range with several modifications like the belly bulge which was crammed with fuel and actually reduced drag at supersonic speeds. They tried in-flight refueling but having to stop for gas halfway up kinda ruins the whole fast interceptor thing. And external fuel tanks had to be mounted on top of the wing due to the landing gear retraction.Which also increased drag and reduced top speed. All this led to a very niche aircraft that had a relatively small production run and may be a little overhyped because of its intriguing concept. But if Soviet Bombers ever wandered too close to the UK you could be sure these would be there to meet them. The F-104 was another unique aircraft. The “missile with a man in it" due to its slender profile and teeny tiny wings. Again, very fast, Mach 2 capable at high altitudes like all the others in this list. The F-104 had mixed reviews though. Many praise it for its speed yet others condemn it for its maneuvering. This meme sums it up concisely. But in a supersonic dogfight the F-104 could match nearly any of its opponents. It also had a reputation as a widowmaker during its time with the Luftwaffe as the F-104G. An unusually high series of crashes and accidents while flying low were responsible for that. And in Vietnam the F-104 was in limited use as a air superiority fighter, despite never getting any air-to-air kills and even one being shot down by a Vietnamese MiG-19/J-6.Still the F-104 persisted as a limited ground attack fighter and saw a later career as a supersonic research aircraft for NASA.I actually rather like the F-106 even though it never saw combat. It was an interceptor and originally based off of the previous F-102 but evolved into its own thing. Nearly twice as fast as the F-102 and even more maneuverable and sophisticated. It had an internal weapons bay to carry missiles inside its belly so there was no stores on the wings to cause drag. This gave it excellent speed, range, and acceleration at most altitudes. It spent its days with the Air Force waiting for the Cold War to go hot and catching Soviet Bombers around Alaska and escorting them away from US airspace. The more multirole F-4 Phantom II happily filled in most other roles the F-106 might've performed. The MiG-21 is my personal favorite fighter so you may taste some bias here. I'll be the first to admit that it has a checkered history. Are you a developing third world country with aspirations for a somewhat competitive airforce? Are the French or Americans misaligned with your politics or just too damn expensive? Then I've got the perfect fighter for you!The MiG-21 was exported to over 40 countries and had thousands built. That doesnt happen to unsuccessful aircraft. Yet its performance in many wars saw more defeats than victories. In the Vietnam War the MiG-21 had 78 kills and 95 losses against American aircraft. This proves that it has potential though it often fared worse in other wars in Asia and the Middle East. The MiG-21 is fast and fairly maneuverable but it lacks the advantage at anything but close range. Its poor radar, lack of long range missiles, and short range meant it had to be fought a certain way. Usually this meant using a powerful ground radar to communicate and guide the MiG into position to ambush enemy planes. Results may vary, obviously.Lastly the Mirage could refer to any of the three above and more. Its a line of fighters developed by the French Dassault for a couple decades. The Mirages are a respectable line of fighters with service in several countries besides france. Not as expensive as American fighters and purchase didn't come with the same geopolitical consequences as either American or Soviet fighters. The first widely successful one was the Mirage III which was later expanded on and evolved with the F1 and 2000 in the second and third pictures. You'd have to be more specific about which Mirage you're comparing if you want to know more.

Third time I've tried to renew a product, third time it's happened. There's a complicated formula to enter your passcode. Their emails on how to do it confuse you even more. A week of my sending emails they never understood: they kept sending me the same thing over and over. When I screamed CANCEL, REFUND for the 10th time they suddenly realized they were sending me codes for the wrong product. Good software, but unless you've got plenty of time and patience, don't even try.
