Because of COVID-19, Sam's Club has closed its tire & battery center and isn't providing promised services. Should I sue them?

NO, you can NOT sue them.I suspected you never bothered to read your agreement. I don't have a Sam's Club membership but expected to find an arbitration clause.I quickly found the Sam's Club terms and conditions online. I found exactly what I expected in the third paragraph which states:IMPORTANT: THIS AGREEMENT CONTAINS A MANDATORY ARBITRATION PROVISION THAT, AS FURTHER SET FORTH BELOW, REQUIRES THE USE OF ARBITRATION ON AN INDIVIDUAL BASIS TO RESOLVE DISPUTES. THIS MEANS THAT YOU AND SAM'S CLUB ARE EACH GIVING UP RIGHTS TO SUE EACH OTHER IN COURT OR IN CLASS ACTIONS OF ANY KIND.So, unless your original agreement states otherwise, you can seek arbitration but not sue them.Feel free to read the rest of your agreement or the one online.

Should China start picking on American businesses in China?

China won’t start it, but it will if Trump gives them a reason to do so. If Trump is foolish enough to attack Chinese businesses in the US, China is sure to attack American interests in China. Do you remember the THAAD installations in South Korea? South Korea traded with Lotte for property to put the THAAD missile system there. Lotte got China’s displeasure by closing several of its stores in Beijing. US FDI is triple that of Chinese FDI in the US. Trump wants to place more restrictions on China investments in the US. From the US FDI, core big businesses have done fairly well by any business measure and they are staying because the potential is only growing. China’s consumer market is larger than the US today and expected to grow to three times its current size in the future. American companies in the consumer venue have grown and now command excellent market share. Today, Trump attacks China about trade, he started up small, increased to a $50 billion hit, and now wants an additional $100 billion hit. His natural nature is not to be outdone. At $50 billion, he was outdone by China, his Mid-West constituents made sure he remembered who voted for him. To cover his behind, he publicly blamed China for attacking American farmers with China’s tariff on soy beans, hogs, fruits, and nuts. What? Again he is not to blame. He shifts the blame to China for this unfair attack on American farmers. His ‘bully’ mentality overcomes rational thinking. Today, his ‘official’ announcement is there is no trade war, the trade war was before he took office and we lost. Again, if you look at the history of Trump’s office, he often blames others for problems but takes credit for positive things others have done. His narcissistic personality is always there in the background. BTW, FYI here’s the top 5 US companies opeating in China and a list of the thousands of American companies selling, manufacturing, and doing business in China.5 American Companies Going Strong in ChinaAmerican Corporations in ChinaI had previously referenced a 5 year old Forbes article on the top 10 American companies in China, but it was criticized for being too old. I have yet to find a current article in the public domain. This article about 5 US companies is dated November 2015.Most articles don’t mention the US retail elephant Walmart. Here’s some data to give you a feel for the size of it’s operation in China:”China at a glanceTotal Retail Units443Walmart Supercenter406Hypermarket18Sam's ClubWalmart Locations Around the World - China“Walmart will open up to 40 new branches in China this year, while upgrading 50 outlets and improving stocking and logistics, the company announced Wednesday. Walmart opened 24 new outlets in China last year and now operates more than 400 stores across the country. Overall sales in China grew 5.4 percent year on year from last November to January, the latest financial statement showed. Last year was the best financial performance in almost five years, according to Dirk Van den Berghe, president and CEO of Walmart China.
