A Field Trip To Medieval Times: Fill & Download for Free

It isnt really medical notes but it still counts. Last year, me and my 7th grade class were going to take an end of year field trip the Medieval Times. On the projector, they had the attendance sheet up because it showed which buses everyone was one… well… it also showed what people were allergic to.I was minding my own business, talking to my friends when an acquaintance of mine comes up to me and says “Holy shit dude, you are allergic to everything!”I looked at him, confused as the only thing I was allergic to was pollen and it wasn't dangerous enough to be on any paper. I looked and, to my surprise, I was apparently allergic to Eggs, Nuts, Trees (not even kidding), and something else. I was pretty shocked… but not too shocked as we have had troubles with the school system before (my lunch account running out of money when we had a ton in there, not accepting that I am an American citizen even though I have only been to one other country, etc.) So I just told my teacher “Hey, I'm actually not dying 24/7, thank you.” And they got it fixed.

Our bus broke down.My worst school field trip happened this past year (freshman year). My Latin 2 class went to the Walters Art Museum to see the Feast for the Sense exhibit. I’m still not really sure why we went or why this trip was relevant to our class, but it was pretty fun. Well, kind of. Not really.Our latin class was pretty small, only about 10 people, so we took a new mini-bus that our school had just purchased. We were very excited to ride in the new bus! However, our latin teacher would be driving the bus. Now, we all loved our latin teacher, she was a very nice lady, but she was not prepared to drive.On the way there, our teacher hit a parked car’s mirror and damaged it, so she had to leave a note for the owner. This was already not looking good.I was not really into the museum visit. We basically looked at pictures like this the whole time[1] :The art that we saw just wasn’t my thing, but this really wasn’t my problem with the field trip.After a fun time at the museum, we were headed back to school for the second half of the day. That’s when the beeping started. Our bus had broken down. We were about two streets away from the museum, on a smaller street, and stopped at the stoplight. It was a smaller street, but very busy. Cars kept honking at the bus, until finally someone put a sign up saying “Our bus is broken! The dean did not know that our latin class had gone on a field trip! She kept asking around, but no one had realized that we had left!We were finally picked up by another mini-bus. When we got back to school, I found out that I had missed 50 minute lunch and my 70 minute free period. The answer is a definite “yes” but we need to qualify which of the many Chinese dynasties and which of the Persian empires we are referring to. Though it seems counter-intuitive, and Buddhism notwithstanding, the Chinese and Persian Empires had greater contact with each other than the Chinese and Indian Empires had. It appears that the Steppes and deserts of Central Asia were less of a barrier than the Himalayas and the Tibetan Plateau.Buddhism came to China from many routes; but one of the primary routes was from Central Asia, with the Sanskrit-knowing Iranian people - the Parthians, Indo-Parthians, Yuezhi (the Kushans), etc actively promoting it. (Aside: the reason Faxian and Xuanzang made historic trips to India was to bypass such middlemen and learn directly from the source)The Silk Road connecting Persia and China was a flurry of activity during the later Tang dynasty (7th-10th century), and Sogdians - also an Eastern Iranian people who inhabited today’s Tajikistan and Uzbekistan - were a notable presence in the Tang court. A Short History and Some New DiscoveriesThough Central Asia later became Muslim and Turkish, Persian still emerged as its lingua franca. The Tang and Song dynasties encouraged Central Asians to settle in various parts of China. This perhaps created the seeds for the Persian-knowing Hui Muslim populations of China. It was at this time that the Chinese astronomical instruments came to Persia, though astronomical exchanges between Persia and China had happened prior too.There were constant exchanges (and battles) between the later Timurid Persia ruling from Herat in Khorasan (Afghanistan) and the Ming dynasty. The biggest influence was in the field of Art. Prince Shah Rukh’s trip to the Ming court was accompanied by his chief Persian artist, Ghiyāth al-dīn Naqqāsh, who also chronicled China. Not surprisingly, the Persian artists and their patrons began to acquire Chinese tastes.We need to note here, land was not the only route for contact between medieval Persia and China. The Ming era admiral Zheng He, who was a Hui of possible Iranian origin himself, supposedly made voyages to the Persian Gulf. How much did Admiral Ming Zheng He know about India and did any Indian king meet with him? What was the political situation on the Indian continent at that time?. But the land-locked Timurids, Turks and Mongols were not seafarers but masters of the Steppes.Chinese influence on Persian art continued in the Safavid era. These Persian Mughal Ramayana miniatures (16th century), for example, has Chinese hills, Chinese trees (gnarled trunks) and a Chinese dragon for Tatakasura.Finally, from the late 17th century onwards, with the isolationist Qing -Manchu dynasty ruling China, overseas cultural contacts ceased.
