Arduino Resume: Fill & Download for Free

What I think you’re asking is not whether to put Raspberry Pi/Arduino work that you’ve already done on your resume, but rather whether you should do some Raspberry Pi/Arduino work so you can put it on your resume. (I’m also assuming that the jobs you’re looking for aren’t directly related to these products, in which case the answer would be obvious.) I think the answer depends on where you are in your career.If you’re entry level, then yes, absolutely. If I’m interviewing someone for their first job out of school, I love to see stuff like this. It shows interest in actual applications* and it’s a way of acquiring and demonstrating some practical experience beyond class projects and internship.If you’re further along in your career and looking to beef up your resume, you’re probably better off doing some other sort of professional development. Hobby projects are cool, but they’re not the same thing as professional projects and don’t count for as much when I’m looking at your experience. Talking up your hobby Arduino project just makes it seem like you don’t have a better story to tell about a real product you’ve worked on.Of course, if you just want to play with Arduinos because you think it’s a cool hobby, go for it! And if you already have Arduino experience, it’s totally fine to include that on your resume - I just wouldn’t give it a lot of space. A quick mention in a list of “other skills” or that kind of thing is perfect.The point is that once you’ve got a couple years of experience, I want this kind of thing to be something above and beyond your professional qualifications, not in place of them.*Not just in the software sense of the term

I can easily relate to this as I was exactly in the same position. So how to improve your resume?Pet projects - You don’t have excuse for this anymore. Arduino, Raspberry Pi or even Drone Pi! Write code, build stuff. Why stick to a syllabus that’s older than you?Internships - Not some shady company where you need to pay for ‘training’! An actual company with plenty of zeros in your salary. Try for a PPO. Network within the company. Make good use of all your semester breaks/vacations for more internships.CGPA - Low cpga? Improve it! Backlogs? Clear it! Realize that people who says cgpa doesn’t matter are simply the exception, not the rule! If X and Y have the same resume (but X has higher cgpa), will you pick Y?Proficient in technology X - Good in C? Build something using C. Host it on GitHub. And not some certification from company Y or an online course. Let your resume prove that you know X.Resume format - Why use a format that’s already been used a million times? Be creative. Ideally speaking, you shouldn't!You are an electronics engineering student, you should learn a proper microcontroller like AVR,Pic,ARM,STM32 or MSP430. Arduino is mainly meant for non technical people who simply wants to get something done.When you finish your course and go for an interview ,saying that you have experience with Arduino won't look that good on your resume. The interviewer will only be interested in a proper microcontroller architecture.Please note that Arduino is not used widely in industrial applications.
