I don’t know if I understand this correctly.But I do know having a heavy proportion of clay where you’re trying to grow a garden is hard.Caliche soils are everywhere. Caliche - WikipediaCaliche beds can cause problems for agriculture. First, an impermeable caliche layer prevents water from draining properly, which can keep roots from getting enough oxygen. Salts can also build up in the soil due to the lack of drainage. Both of these situations are detrimental to plant growth. Second, the impermeable nature of caliche beds prevents plant roots from penetrating the bed, which limits the supply of nutrients, water, and space so they cannot develop normally. Third, caliche beds can also cause the surrounding soil to be basic. The basic soil, along with calcium carbonate from the caliche, can prevent plants from getting enough nutrients, especially iron. An iron deficiency makes the youngest leaves turn yellow. Soil saturation above the caliche bed can make the condition worse.Now, if you were trying to pull clay out pottery, I’d suggest to agitate that caliche in a bucket or pool of water. Clay will be the last thing to settle and will be on top when it dries — or under the pieces of vegetation of you have a lot of that too. (You can usually skim that off nearly immediately as it floats.)You can make nice adobe brick and pottery out of caliche clay.That is a TON of work to do for a garden…unless you want bricks to make an elevated garden..Anyway back to gardening. There’s no pulling the clay out for gardening. The method I’ve used — when the ground is wet, I stir in a bunch of organic material. I classify organic material as compost, mulch, manure, the bodies of my enemies (rodents), anything that was once alive.When I was doing that, it was about 50/50 mix by volume. Some clay is good because how it holds water compared to sand.Thinning the amount of clay will be a lot easier by adding things, rather than trying to pull the clay out.

I used to take all the clay out of window glasses (I lived in government quarters) and all the glasses would fall off!I was fond of bike rides. Whenever daddy used to go anywhere I cried hard to accompany him that too sitting on fuel tank!I demanded extra chapatis in lunch and hid them in my pocket so that I can feed dogs outside and my mom remained happy that her daughter is eating extra chapati!I had exactly laterally inverted image in school. When my teacher showered adulations on me in meeting quoting that “Riya is a very nice and quiet girl" my mother stared at me in utter disbelief! Although my friends knew how nice I was!I was(am) very obedient to my father and disobedient to the rest of the world.
