Tell your husband it won't be a truck for him but an SUV for you. Then tell both your husband and the grandparents that babies are an ongoing cost so you will need x amount of money each week for a minimum if 18 years. Let the grandparents know that since legally they aren't responsible for raising a grandchild that you will need to have their weekly contribution in writing and with cost of living adjustments to match the ones sent out by the state each year.Then tell the grandparents they will need to hire an accountant who can certify they have enough resources to take care of both themselves and their grandchild for a minimum of 18 years before you agree to the contract.Since the grandparents want the child and you don't make sure you also draw up a visitation agreement. Give yourself all weekends and major holidays off. After all they wanted the child they should watch the child. You will be present on holidays whenever you wish but they will be responsible for the child. Remind them that as they are hosting all holidays you will need to add in a two week paid vacation each year. The child will come for the first week accompanied by the grandparents who will be responsible for the child. The second week is only for you and your husband. The grandparents will still pay for everything but they will also take the child and go home.Which brings us to work. If you work then of course the grandparents will be providing free babysitting for forty hours a week for the duration of childhood. Add that to the agreement.Oh and don't forget the child will need a college education. A good one is about a quarter of a million. Time for a trust fund. Get that in writing as well.About now your husband and his parents should be looking at you like you are insane.At this point gently remind then it takes much more then a truck to raise a baby and you will decide if/when you are financially ready. Unless they are willing to completely support the baby they need to stay away from your bedroom and what comes out of it.

OK, I hate to say this in public, but I worked for Power Station Studio, owned by Tony Bongiovi (2nd cousin to John Bongiovi) for over a decade. (Jon also has a brother Tony, so people often get confused about the two Tonys). Part of my job had to do with Bon Jovi-related tasks.When John Bongiovi, Jr. was in a band during high school, his father John Sr., called his cousin Tony, an already very successful recording engineer, producer and owner of one of the most popular and successful recording studios in the history of recording, to ask if Tony would come to see John Jr.’s band and help them out.Tony said that John Jr. could come to work at Power Station after graduating from high school to learn the recording business. During those years, John had an apartment on the 4th floor of the 35,000 square foot studio building, a small private studio and exposure to all of the artists working in the studios in the facility. He was paired with a songwriter from Chapel Hill Music named Jim Polles in order to help hone his writing skills and many of the E Street band were hired as his demo band. Incidently, the band’s current bassist, Hugh McDonald, was on the demos too and also did a lot of the studio bass parts on the early albums, though Alec Such was credited.Fast forward, John worked with a producer named Lance Quinn and this “all star” band to create the “Runaway” track (which was not written by John Bongiovi) and it was submitted to a radio-sponsored songwriting contest where it got lots of air play, eventually winning the contest, which included some kind of recording contract. But, before accepting that deal, John wanted his music shopped to other labels and, as a result, Polygram made a better offer.John had a record deal and no band. He needed a band for touring. He also faced a problem with his cousin Tony with whom he did not have any written agreement. As a result, there are many details about John’s years at Power Station that are not ever discussed by the now famous Jon Bon Jovi and the cousins are still not close.Tony and Polygram hammered out a deal for “Runaway” and Jon Bon Jovi was born along with Bon Jovi, the band. The rest is history. Jon Bon Jovi was the main“talent” but as the band evolved, I am sure there were many adjustments to their agreements. But, the other members had no say in the name of the band.

I had that problem with my parents. On the weekends they would just pop up. They couldn’t get into the house because I always kept the door locked. When they kept up their behavior I changed my reaction to them.On Friday night I would put my purse, sweater and car keys by the front door. Almost on the schedule, they showed up at the door unannounced. I picked up my things. I opened the door and told them I was on my way out. They should have called first. My parents just popped up and after very short peasantries we were off. They learned to call and we were all happier.Give it a try. Be consistent.
