I have come across numerous funny incidents during my undergrad years in RV. These 2 stories are the only ones I still remember.Story 1: The screwdriver storySGG was the most feared person in the entire electrical dept. He was our HOD and was in charge of machines lab. Just like any other machines lab session all of us entered lab, got our data sheets verified and started performing the experiments. Two of my classmates, Ram and Raja, were yet to start their experiment. Both of them were staring at the voltmeter. SGG noticed them.(I don't remember the exact conversation but I believe it was something like this)SGG: "Why are you two standing idle and wasting your time?"Raja: "Sir, there is a zero error in the voltmeter" (the needle pointer was not pointing to zero)SGG: "So? Don't give reasons. You must always come prepared to the lab. You must carry screwdriver, toolkit and everything. You people have no seriousness at all and you call yourselves engineers"Story 2: Sir, papers?Usually, after the internals were done the teachers would correct the answersheets and we would go to their cabins to check our marks.One day my classmate Kiran and a few other went to the teachers' room to have a look at their marks in microcontroller. On their way out of the room they noticed our counselor AJ sitting in his cabin. AJ was not teaching any subject to us in that semester. So Kiran decided to pull his leg.Kiran: "Sir, papers?"AJ: "Ah, one minute"He opened the cupboard in which he stacks all the answersheets. Stared at it for a minute. Turned back and replied " Eh what papers pa?!!"

YES - Embedded Industry is growing.CDAC is a training center like any other college / training institute or school. They are usually ten years behind the industry, have teachers who usually have never built a voltmeter for their homes, will ask you to work on already built hardware.What you become is what you do with the knowledge that you acquire from there.Here is my personal story - I studied in a Govt School in Delhi (Hindi Medium), did 3 years diploma in electronics and at the age of 18 started working on embedded. That was 38 years back and Internet, Mobile, IBM PC and Windows did not exist.So it is not your school/college/study. it is what you wish to do and put in efforts.For me , my first job offered me computers and 8048 micro controller to try and their data sheet. Today you can access them using your own PC and Internet.What do you need most IS A MENTOR WHO CAN GUIDE YOU. MENTOR NEED TO BE A HANDS ON PERSON AND NOT A TEACHER (honorable exceptions do exist)Enjoy

I would like to answer this question in two parts. First, 2 crore jobs. Job means doing a work for which the worker is paid money for doing it. We conveniently forget this basic definition. For most of us Job means 9–5 working hours, 5 days a week, a fixed salary (On the first of every month) T.A. + D.A, yearly appraisals, diwali bonus and health insurance for the full family.I know many Doctors who are earning 5 digit amount daily. I know many teachers who run their own private coaching classes from their home and earn 6 digit amount monthly. I have a friend of my mine who runs a small two wheeler workshop and he easily earns 4 digit amount daily. Coming from Gujarat I also know many paan waalahs earning in 6 digit per month. The city from which I come that is Rajkot is famous for manufacturing of engineering tools, machine tools, equipment, forging etc has three industrial zones, Aji, Shapar and Metoda where thousands (skilled and semi skilled) are easily earning in 4 digits per day. But they not on any payrolls or data sheets. We might not find records of most of these people. Are they jobless?Our problem is actually with the word “WORKER”. No body in India likes or wants to be called a worker, irrespective of the money he or she can make, legally. Everyone wants a white collar 9–5 job, most preferably government, with all the above mentioned perks and with minimum or no responsibility. A degree, be it any degree should never be considered as a guarantee for a salaried 9–5 job. T.V. or A.C you will realize who is better off, (not just financially, but the amount of respect he commands) that mechanic or 9–5 job person.There is no limit for an earning for a hard working, skilled person. Personally I would prefer a small business over a job. I can be a little assured the future of my children because I have already created a platform for them. The biggest worry of a salaried person is, What will my children do after I retire? No doubt, you have to struggle to set up a business, a small manufacturing unit etc. but you will surely give your children a platform and a option for their source of earning in future. They won’t have to struggle as much as you did. They only need to take care of the business and develop it. By creating your small business set up you may be able to support many other families too. Be your own BOSS. Start small. think big.Secondly Mr. Modi, he took some bold initiatives with schemes like Skill India, Start up India and Make In India (Babbar Sher). It is for the youths how they utilise it. Which ever government be at the center, Congress, B.J.P. or Khichdi, Hardworking, Energetic and Skilled youths will surely get what they deserve and the rest will sit complaining and criticizing.
