He told me I was overdramatic and sent me home, where I writhed in pain. Happily, I babysat for a family “Levine” where the dad was a dental surgeon as well. And when the pain got too bad, I called Dr. Levine and basically said I need help or he was going to need a new babysitter, since I couldn’t live like this. Dr. Levine told me to come in first thing in the morning.When I got into the chair, he took my hand (and I do not like being touched but I was almost limp with pain) and said “Elke, I swear to you, I will not allow you to leave until you are better.” And he kept his promise, and found an enormous cyst that my dentist had overlooked. He drained it, cleaned it and patched me up. He then called my dentist and shouted at him.Felt good.

My opinion of Jenny from Forest Gump has changed as much as i have over the past 20 years.When i first saw the movie i think i didn’t really have an opinion on Jenny. I think i just saw her as the troubled love interest. As i got older, and had my own experiences in love and relationships I started to view her differently. For a time I thought she was stupid. Then for a time i gave her a pass on everything because of her bad childhood. Then i entered my mid 20s and i hated Jenny. I saw her as this manipulative trouble maker who got off on guys chasing her. Who loved having Forest as her personal attack dog:As i got older and reached my mid 30s instarted to see Jenny as she really is. A good person who never had a break in her life. A person who was so messed up at an early age, who was betrayed by the man who was suppsed to raise her. Jennys relationship with men was probably the most difficult part of her life. It defined her. First she gets abused, then she gets chased by boys who want to sleep with her. Then she gets older and sees her dreams and ambitions basically being controlled by the whims of men. Her whole life shes chasing/running from men for some form of validation. Why do you think she always tells forest to run? Its the only thing she knew how to do. The only thing that kept jenny going through her young years was forest and their friendship. And i think it helped her keep going throughout her life.we cant blame Jenny for not choosing forest till the end. It was the 60s and forest wasnt anyones idea of a husband/boyfriend. And Forest was a mentaly challenged man. I dont blame her for not wanting to marry him. It was a different time. We can blame her for sleeping with him if we want, but honestly, i dont. She was so lonely and confused each time she did that i can’t believe i wouldnt have done the same thing.When Jenny had Forests kid she chose to raise him herself. She knew that if she told him shed just live with him and all his money for the rest of his life. And for the record, Jenny never asked Forest for money.Jenny never asked Forest for money.It was only when she found out she was dying that she reached out to Forest. It wasn’t for her, it was for little Forest. Jenny didnt seem to do much for herself. Remember it was the 80s and the south. The stigma of being a bastard child was a real thing. Especially when your dad is loaded.In the end my opinion of Jenny is that shes a human being who made good and bad choices in her life and tried her best to do the right thing.

I think it’s remarkable how many right wingers have decided they’re comfortable saying the quiet part out loud, which is that they do not support the idea of an actual democratic republic but merely using the trappings of self-government in order to hold power by any means necessary.
