It’s rather the other way around.Originally, most of the population of France — that is, of ancient Gaul — spoke Celtic languages (related to modern Breton, Welsh, and Irish). There were also communities of Germanic speakers in the north and east of what’s now France. The most distant relatives of Lezgins, who also belong to the North-Eastern Caucasian group, are Avars, Chechens, and Ingushetians.However, Turks belong to the Turkic group, which some scholars believe that this group itself has also emerged from a larger - Altaic family that also includes Mongols and Tungusic people. The Turks of Azerbaijan belong to the Oghuz branch of the Turkic group. They are closely related to the Turks of Anatolia, to Turkmens of Iraq and Syria, Turkmens of Central-Asia, Gagauzs, exceptionally to Crimean Tatars who originated from Qipchaq branch but were influenced heavily by the Oghuz Turks. More distantly Turks of Azerbaijan are also related to Uzbeks and Uyghurs that belong to the Qarluq branch of the Turkic group. The furthest Turkic people to Azerbaijani Turks are of course Qipchaqs (which includes Qazan Tatars, Qazaqs and Kyrgyz people), Siberian (which includes Sakha, Altay, Tuvan, Khakas and etc) and the Chuvash people who are the last remaining member of Oghur branch.But of course, after living together side-by-side for centuries, Turks and Lezgins of Azerbaijan have built strong cultural ties with each other. Addition to that, because of this unity there has also been an extensive amount of mixing as a result of inter-ethnic marriages. Therefore, it is for sure that they are much closer to each other than their most distant relatives.
