What are the chances of getting into the University of Illinois college of engineering if you are deferred?

The Real Guide to Colleges and Universities. What does it mean to be deferred? What the Waitlist or a Deferral Means for Your College AcceptanceBy Peterson's Staff on Tuesday, May 10, 2016Waitlisted. Application deferred. You put in your college application and that's the response you got! Even after you spent hours filling out forms and laboring over the perfect essay! What does a deferral mean, and is it a good thing or a bad thing?Deferral from college acceptanceThe first thing you should know is that there is a difference between a deferral and being placed on a waitlist. If your application gets deferred, it means that you haven't been accepted yet…but you might be…later. Hmmm…what are you supposed to do with that?!Well, if you applied as an Early Action or Early Decision applicant, your application has basically been converted to a regular application. You'll be reviewed again during the normal admission season with all the other applicants. However, you've also been freed from any obligation to attend their school if accepted, and you can go ahead and apply to other schools as you wish.If you applied during the regular admission cycle and have been deferred, then the school probably wants more information before they make a final admissions decision — such as senior year final grades or additional test scores. The sooner you can get it to them, the more likely you'll get a final answer sooner rather than later. The waitlist admission decisionIf you've been placed on a waitlist, it means that the admission folks are done reviewing your file and that you are on their radar, but not their first option. The other applicants that have been accepted received college admission letters of acceptance, but you have to wait and see whether or not they are going to accept you.In academic terms, you're a backup. Waitlists are a safety net for colleges, allowing them to ensure that they have enough students to fill all of their vacancies, but it puts you in a spot where you may need to make some tough decisions. Sending in additional information isn't likely to change the situation, although you should certainly keep your application updated with anything that will enhance your student profile.Waiting for a college acceptanceIf you applied for Early Action or Early Decision and received news that you've been waitlisted, then your application will be reviewed again with the regular pool of applicants — just as if you had applied normally. However, if you applied during the regular admission cycle and you're placed on a waitlist, then you're in limbo until a spot comes open and your name is at the top of the list when it does. It's important to know that schools rank you, and all the other applicants from the regular admission cycle, in order of priority. Those at the top of the list will receive college admission letters first if spots do open up.Roughly 34 percent of colleges maintain waitlists and not surprisingly, they tend to be either highly selective colleges, or those with low yield rates (low numbers of accepted applicants that actually choose to enroll). The percentage of people accepted from the waitlist varies at each school depending on the number of spots the school has left to fill. Your waitlist letter should include details about the school's waitlist history. If it doesn't, then ask! Give the admission office a call and find out:How many students have been on the waitlist in the pastHow many were offered admissionWhere you are ranked on the listDetails on any major obstacle to your being acceptedWhat types of housing and financial aid may be available if you get inYou may want to ask your guidance counselor for help with gathering this admissions decision information and deciding what to do once you've gotten all the details. Even if you are granted admittance later, you may find that the best deals on aid and housing are gone. Holding your breath and hoping for the best probably won't work to your advantage so make sure you find out everything you can about that school's policies.Making your own admission decisionWhether you've been waitlisted or deferred, it's wise to assume that your chances of getting in are not great. Schools have to notify you of your admittance by August 1, but don't hold out that long to find out.You should do everything you can to get that college admission letter you want. Let the school know that you will definitely enroll if they accept you by writing a letter to the head honcho in the Admission Office. Also make sure you've submitted everything you were supposed to, including your financial aid paperwork. You don't want to give the school any reason to pass you over in case it comes down to drawing straws for that last coveted spot.Last but not least, if you didn't already do it when you originally applied, submit applications to your second-choice schools. If you're accepted at another school, make plans to go there — send in your enrollment forms and put down your deposit. If you find out later that you've gotten into your first choice, you can change your plans, but don't put yourself in the position of having nowhere to go at all.EXTRAS (UI)WAIT-LIST FAQBecause Illinois receives more applications from highly qualified students than there are available positions in the entering class, some students will receive an offer to join the wait list. Once we know how many students have accepted our initial offer of admission, we’ll use this list to fill the remaining spots in the class. The wait list isn’t ranked; our selection is based on a variety of factors and remaining needs for the class. Our commitment to holistic review will continue as we select students from the wait list in order to balance and complete our freshman class. How many people are on the wait list? Each year, around 1,500 students are placed on the wait list. Depending on space availability, we may offer wait-listed students admission. Some years we’re able to admit hundreds of students from the wait list, while some years we can’t admit any.Can I improve my chances if I send additional information to support my application or come to campus for an interview? No, additional materials such as letters of recommendation and senior year grades won’t be considered. Only the application materials that were reviewed initially will be used in any wait-list decisions. Interviews aren’t part of our admissions process. If I put my name on the wait list, when will I hear a final admission decision? If you wish to be on our wait list, you need to accept your wait-list offer within myIllini by May 1. We’ll notify you of your admission decision by early June. If you’re admitted, you’ll then be sent a complete admissions packet. What’s the process for selecting applicants from the wait list?If any openings become available for the college to which you applied, the admissions review committee will review your application. Applicants aren’t ranked within the wait list. Will housing still be available?Illinois values the residential college experience, and housing is guaranteed for all freshman students, including those selected for admission from the wait list. You’ll have a place to live in University Housing. Will I still be eligible for financial aid?You should go ahead and file financial aid paperwork for the school you expect to attend. If you’re selected for admission and didn’t initially list Illinois as one of the schools to receive your Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) report, you can then have it transferred to Illinois. If I'm offered admission, will I be able to complete placement testing and attend Summer Registration?Yes, information about Summer Registration will be sent with your admissions packet, and information on placement testing will be available online.Should I accept admission at another school? What if I have to submit an enrollment deposit?Yes, you should accept admission to another institution by May 1, as we can’t guarantee that any students from the wait list will be offered admission. If this institution requires an enrollment deposit, you’ll also need to send it. If you’re offered admission and choose to attend Illinois, you may lose this enrollment deposit. Check with the other institution about its refund policy. If I’m not offered admission, can I apply again as a transfer student?Yes, applicants who aren’t offered admission are eligible to apply as transfer students in a future year. When reviewing applicants with only 1 year of college work, we focus primarily on high school grades, test scores, and activities. When you’ve attended college full-time for 2 years, the strength of the college program and your academic achievement at the college level are given primary consideration. Learn more about our transfer review process. What should I do now?First, focus on choosing the best fit for you of the universities that have offered you admission. Wait lists are uncertain, so it’s best to ensure your happiness no matter the outcome. If you’re on our wait list, that means we really like you and you don’t need to improve your application. You should, however, continue to get good grades your senior year. If you’re still interested in attending Illinois, be patient. It may take some time, but you’ll receive wait-list news after May 1.SearchSearch http://Admissions.eduUtility MenuContactFAQPolicies & ProceduresCounselorsRecord number of UI applicants will get admission news todayFri, 02/05/2016 - 7:00am | Julie WurthPhoto by: The News-GazetteA record number of students have applied to the University of Illinois for the fall semester.Other Related ContentApplication breakdownURBANA — More than 37,000 students applied to the University of Illinois' flagship campus this year — a new record — and about 22,000 of them will be very happy later today.Today is Decision Day, when applicants learn whether they've been admitted to the Urbana-Champaign campus.Students can check their status starting at 4 p.m. on the UI's admissions website, from their laptops, tablets or phones. Or not."There'll be kids who come to school on Monday without knowing, because they don't want to know," said Urbana High School admissions Counselor Sam Furrer. It can be a stressful thing."Decisions are coming Friday," the UI's admission's website proclaimed Thursday, advising students to relax in the meantime: "Take a walk, turn off your phone, play some music, hang with friends — whatever helps you unwind!"State financial woes and athletic scandals didn't deter this year's applicants, with 10 percent more students applying to the UI than in 2015.The numbers were up in every college, for in-state and out-of-state applicants and all ethnic groups, according to data requested by The News-Gazette. The number of Illinois applicants rose 9 percent, from 16,688 to 18,203.The highly ranked College of Engineering hit a new record of 12,900 applicants, though about 1,900 of those were redirected to other programs because they wouldn't meet the college's criteria. The average ACT of students accepted into engineering is 32, placing them in the top 2 percent nationally."The trend over the last six or so years has been just explosive growth overall in all science, math and engineering fields," not only at the UI but all universities, said Kevin Pitts, associate dean for undergraduate programs in the College of Engineering. The UI benefits more than many of its competitors because of its reputation, and because the state has a large population with lots of potential students and just one public Big Ten institution, he said. The college is also "very excited" about an uptick in applications from female students, he said. The number of applications to the campus overall has grown for many years, though it dipped last year, said Chuck Tucker, vice provost for undergraduate education and innovation. That was when the UI switched to a single application deadline (Dec. 1) and notification date for students. The campus eliminated its "priority notification" option to relieve some of the angst for high school seniors and to stem a decline in the number of Illinois applicants choosing the UI.Previously, students who applied by Nov. 1 were notified in December whether they were accepted or deferred for further consideration. Typically, several thousand were deferred and thrown in the pool with students who applied by the second deadline in early January. Students were then notified of their acceptance or denial in mid-February. High school guidance counselors complained that the system was confusing and prompted some students to choose other schools.Tucker said it may have taken a year for students, parents and counselors to get used to the new system.Counselors "like the simplicity," he said, "but when you've admitted people on one kind of calendar for a lot of years ... and you change it, it takes a little while for that knowledge to soak in."It seems pretty clear that the word has filtered out, especially to high schools in Illinois. So we're back on the upward slope," he said.'We're an instant society'The UI made a slight change in the schedule this year, moving up its Decision Day by a week or so to the first Friday in February. Last year, it was Feb. 13 — Friday the 13th.Tucker said UI deans had requested the change after getting feedback from unhappy parents. In some cases, they were UI alums distressed because their children ended up choosing other schools that notified applicants sooner.Furrer likes the change, as students hear from the UI ahead of some other schools, and it eases their anxiety."If they could find out 10 minutes after they submit (their application), they'd be happy with that. We're an instant society. These are kids who are not used to waiting for anything," Furrer said. The campus is studying other potential remedies for future years, such as an early notification for students with very strong academic credentials who are obviously qualified for admittance, Tucker said.Tucker wasn't sure how many students will be admitted today, but said it will likely be roughly the same as last year, or about 22,000. Today's count is not the last word. The UI has a late application appeal process and accepts some students later in the year, such as student-athletes.The size of next fall's freshman class won't be known until students let the UI know whether they're coming. They have to reply by May 1.Tucker said the goal is to have about the same number of freshmen as last fall — the second largest class in UI history, at 7,566.State budget problems have made the guessing game a bit tricker this year. The status of state financial aid grants for current students at the UI is unclear, even moreso for new freshman applicants, Tucker said."Sometimes it feels like roulette to me," Tucker said. "We put our bets on the wheel, we watch the wheel go this way and the ball go that way, and on the 10th day we'll see what happens."'International reputation'Last year, the UI made a concerted effort to accept more Illinois residents, as the percentage of in-state freshmen had fallen to just over 71 percent. That grew slightly to 73 percent last fall, and Tucker said the hope is that next year's class will be a similar split."I don't see it growing very much at this stage," he said.If enrollment expands greatly — an idea floated by President Tim Killeen to bolster the UI's resources — "then we'll be enrolling larger numbers of students from Illinois," Tucker said. The campus has also stepped up its recruitment of African-American students and others from underrepresented minorities. The numbers of Latino and African-American applicants were up by 18 percent to 19 percent this year, but "it's really the yield and who shows up in the end that makes the biggest difference," Tucker said. The number of international applicants also rose, though by a lesser percentage.Tucker said the international market is more volatile, fluctuating based on economic conditions and other factors in India, China and Korea."We put almost no effort into recruiting international students," he said. "That's driven almost completely by our institutional reputation around the world."The College of Engineering is hoping for 1,500 freshmen next fall, and that means it will admit approximately 4,500 students today, Pitts said. About one-third of all students accepted to the college wind up coming (although more than half of in-state applicants do), he said."We're working hard to get a higher fraction of Illinois residents," he said, projecting the percentage will be 55 percent to 60 percent. He said that percentage may seem small but the number of Illinois residents in the college is "as high as it's ever been." The college expanded enrollment in recent years by accepting more out-of-state and international students. In particular, it's seen increasing demand from students in California, where the university system doesn't have enough seats to satisfy demand, Pitts said.Up, up and (far) awayFreshman applications at the University of Illinois were up 10 percent overall and in every category this year — in-state, out-of-state and all demographic groups. Some key UI target areas:Black students: Up 384, or 18.8%, from 2,047 to 2,431Latino students: Up 609, or 19%, from 3,184 to 3,793Women engineers: up 438, or 21.4%, from 2,045 to 2,483International applicants: Up 1,247, or 13.8%, from 9,022 to 10,269

What's the best way to increase productivity?

Like everyone, I’d like to think I am a productive person. If I am, however, it’s because I’ve been ruthlessly efficient at one thing: stealing secrets and methods from people a lot smarter than me.In my career, I’ve had the fortune of coming in contact with bestselling authors, successful entrepreneurs, investors, executives and creative people. Some I didn’t meet, but I found their thoughts in book form. Whether they knew it or not, I cased all of them and took from them what I thought were their best ideas on productivity.Below are the secrets I learned from them:Casey NeistatFrom this popular YouTube filmmaker and artist, I picked up the trick of keeping a small Moleskine journal that I write in everyday: thoughts, reminders, notes, lessons. I prefer one that can fit in my back pocket, this way I always have paper on me. More important, I learned how to keep track of these journals (and everything else I own) in case I lose them: In big letters write, “If Found Please Return [INSERT NAME & NUMBER]”Tim FerrissFrom Tim I learned the art of the to do list. A simple, straight-forward one. One notecard, 5-6 big items and that’s it. Everyday, I cross these off and tear up the card. That’s it. That’s the system.Robert GreeneRobert Greene, renowned author of the 48 Laws of Power, showed me how he creates books. His notecard system has changed my life. Every book I read, I fold the pages of and then go back through and transfer the information on to notecards which I then organize by theme in card boxes. At this point I have hundreds of thousands of these cards, which I always turn to if I need an anecdote, a fact, inspiration, a strategy, a story or an example.Dov CharneyThe first time I called Dov, I got his voicemail. It said: “I don’t use voicemail, email me.” This is a way better system. I’ve taken it a step further, I don’t even have a voicemail set up. If it’s important, they’ll call back. If I have time, I’ll return the missed call. Either way, having “6 unchecked voice messages” is something I’ve haven’t worried about in years…because they don’t exist.Ramit SethiRamit has built a 40 plus employee, multi-million dollar education business right before our eyes (he and I grew up in the same small town actually). One trick I learned from Ramit—after ignoring the advice several times—is that if you’re going to hire an assistant, make sure they are older or more responsible than you. Too many people make the mistake of hiring someone young and cheap…which is ridiculous. Because it’s impossible for them to understand the value of time and organization and they will end up making you less productive, not more. If you’re going to have an assistant, do it right.Tobias WolffIn his book, Old School, Tobias Wolf’s semi-autobiographical character takes the time to type out quotes and passages from great books. I do this almost every weekend. It’s a) made me a faster typer b) a much better writer c) a wiser person.Robert GreeneFrom Robert I also learned that swimming is a great productivity tool. Why? Because it requires total isolation: no music, no phone, no possible interruptions. Just quiet, strenuous exercise. I’ve had some of my most productive brainstorming sessions in the pool.David Allen & Merlin MannInbox Zero. Never touch paper twice. Let these phrases sink in and use them.Ramit SethiAnother from Ramit. You don’t have to answer every email you get. The delete key is a quick way to get to inbox zero.NapoleonThere’s a great quote from Napoleon about how he would delay opening letters so that by the time he did, the unimportant issues would have resolved themselves. I try to do the same thing with email and issues from staff.Marco ArmentInstapaper changed my life. I don’t play games on my phone, I read smart articles I queued up for myself earlier in the day. I don’t get distracted with articles while I am working at my desk—because I can easily put them in the queue.James Altucher“No” is a powerful, productive word (he also wrote a book about it). We think we’re obligated to say yes to everything, then we wonder why we never have enough time. Learning to say no—“No, thank you” more specifically—will energize you and excite you. Use it–as much as you can.MontaigneFrom Montaigne I also learned the importance of keeping a commonplace book. If something catches your eye, write it down, record it somewhere. Use it later. Simple as that.Andrew CarnegieHe has a great line about “being introduced to the broom” at an early age. In other words, know even the most lowly tasks intimately. Doesn’t mean you have to do them still, but know them.Aaron RayAaron Ray was my mentor in Hollywood. He’s a hugely successful movie producer and manager, but I noticed one thing: He was never in the office. And he always had some ridiculous excuse why he wasn’t. Eventually, I realized why: He was avoiding the office BS that sucks up most people’s time. By staying away, he got way more done. He could see big picture. And as an extra bonus, everyone was always talking about him: “Where’s Aaron?” “Has anyone seen Aaron?”Tucker MaxYou wouldn’t guess it but Tucker has the biggest library you’ve ever seen. Why? He buys every book he wants. I don’t waste time thinking about what books I want, or where to get them cheapest. I buy them, I read them, I recommend them, I benefit from them. End of story. I’m never without something to read, and I’m always driven to read more—because the shelves are looking down on me as a reminder of what I have left to do.Nassim TalebSpeaking of books, from Nassim Taleb I learned about the “anti-library.” Don’t just collect books you have read, collect the books you haven’t read. It’s a testament to what you don’t know–and an on hand resource whenever you need it.Samantha HooverFrom my wife, I got a nice little trick. Delete Facebook from your phone. Just do it. Trust me. (note: pretty sure she’s relapsed, but I haven’t)Bryan “Birdman” WilliamsThe guy founded Cash Money records and is worth about $500M. I was shocked the first time I was supposed to meet him…at the studio…at 1am…on a Sunday. His day was just starting. He works at night, sleeps during the day. Like I said, at first it was weird, but then I realized: He picked the hours that were most productive for him—screw what most people think is “normal.”Tucker MaxI think Tucker was the guy I stole listening to the same song over and over from. It lets you space out and get into the zone (or flow state). My iTunes playlist is embarrassing, but I don’t care. Listening to the same song hundreds of time is how I get so much done.Samuel ZemurrayThe entrepreneur behind United Fruit (and one of my favorite books) used to say: “Don’t trust the report.” We waste a lot of time trusting numbers and opinions we’ve never verified. Going backwards and doing something over ends up costing us far more than we saved by skipping over the work in the first place.Tim FerrissAnother one from Tim: you don’t have to be the first one to sign up for things. Wait a bit on the new apps and social networks. Wait for things to sort themselves out, let other people do all the trial and error, then when you come, just be the best.AnonymousI forget who gave me the idea, but never buy in-flight Wifi. Go off the grid for the whole flight. Catch up on stuff. Think. Read.Adam CorollaOn Loveline, Adam used to complain about how the producers wanted him to get their 15 minutes before the show started. His refusal was simple: every week that added up to an extra show—for free. Important people can get a lot done in “just 15 minutes” so they don’t give it away easily. And they don’t mind looking bad in order to protect.Niki PapadopoulosMy editor always says: “Ok, well, try writing it then.” In other words, she means “Get started.” She usually says this right after you explain some big sweeping idea you have for a book or a chapter or an article. Planning it out is great, but productive people get moving.Frederick Douglass“A man is worked on by what he works on.” Steer clear of quagmires, toxic work environments, busy work and unsolvable problems.James AltucherEntrepreneurs and writers are nuts. To save yourself many wasted hours of time and insanity, find yourself a spouse who is better adjusted and balanced than you.Aaron RayAs a talent manager, Aaron showed me why you never waste your time, or your own money, doing your own negotiating. This has served me well. I pass incoming inquiries to a speaking agent, book projects to a book agent, interview requests to an assistant, movie/TV stuff to Aaron, etc etc. Yes, this means I pay them a fee, but guess what? Was Michael Jackson a misunderstood genius?

Michael Jackson was NO DOUBT a music and dance genius. He is hands down the best entertainer i have ever seen my entire life. His music is eternal, his dance moves were other worldly. He is a LEGEND. He is the most influential and crossover artist. Michael’s genius was that he studied the greats and he became greater himself. He combined James Brown, Sammy Davis Junior , Jackie Wilson , Fred Astaire and Bob Fosse in one. As a child performer he would watch the greats at work, he observed them , he learned from them. He studied Etta James, Smokey Robinson , Gladys Knight , Diana Ross. His brothers would sleep around with groupies BUT he watched and he studied the masters at work. At 5 he gave his first performance. He sang Climb Every Mountain at school and they gave him the standing ovation. At 6 he replaced his brother Jermaine as the Jackson 5 lead singer and signed his first record deal. At 11 the Jackson 5 signed to Mowtown because Berry Gordy was blown away by a 10 year old Michael Jackson who sang and danced like James Brown. It was Michael Jackson ‘s mind blowing performance that made Gordy sign then to Motown. At 11 the Rolling Stone called him a prodigy. At 13 he released his first album. At 14 his song Ben was nominated for an Oscar. He was an incredible dancer without even being formally trained. Fred Astaire called him his descendant , James Brown his heir. Bob Fosse said he must be the best dancer of the century since Astaire because he was so fast and every action was complete. Given the fact that Michael Jackson was never formally trained , he never took a dance lesson his entire life and Bob Fosse and Fred Astaire were already at the top of their game he was indeed a dance genius. Yet not only did they praise him they openly admired him. ‘’ I wouldn’t want to leave this world without knowing who my descendant was , thank you Michael’’ Fred Astaire told him. Also, “Oh, God! That boy moves in a very exceptional way. He is phenomenal!! That’s the greatest dancer of the century”. Fred Astaire . Have you seen Michael Jackson dance in his ‘Beat It’ and ‘Thriller’ videos? Have you seen the Motown 25th Anniversary special where he performed ‘Billie Jean’ for the first time? Have you seen any of his tour footage? Sure, MJ has certain trademark dance moves but no one can touch his execution, creativity and dedication to the world of dance. He was self-taught, also. No formal dance training other than watching/mimicing others. YOU don’t have to agree with the late and great FRED ASTAIRE ! Michael Jackson is the only pop and rock artist to have ever been inducted in the Dance Hall of Fame. Not Elvis Presley, not James Brown , not Prince, only Michael Jackson. He could not read or write music or play a musical instrument at an advanced level yet he built entire songs in his head , then he tape recorded them , then he duplicated them. This way he wrote and composed classic songs like Billie Jean , Remember the Time, Black or White, Dirty Diana, Dangerous , Heal the World, Earth song and so many others . Songs about love , peace, racism, corruption, ecology. Songs that are meaningful and have stood the test of time. He is inducted in the Songwriter Hall of Fame. Every time he was accused of having stolen a song he testified how he conceived it in his head , how he materialised it , how he brought it to life and he was ALWAYS vindicated. He could imitate every single musical instrument with his voice. He released Thriller in 1982 and the world moved beneath us. He revolutionized the music industry. He put MTV on the map. People went to a store to buy Thriller and they bought other artists’ albums as well. He was a visionary. He transformed the music video from a promotional tool to artform. He broke racial barriers. He paved the way for black artists. He became the first black artist whose video aired on MTV.He peaked too early some say. He was the top selling artist for 3 decades. He broke world records that have yet to be broken, if ever. His career expanded for 4 decades. His Thriller album is still the top selling album of all times worldwide. His Invincible album , his least successful work , sold 10 million albums in 2001 and it topped in 13 countries. He sold at his worst what others don’t even sell at their very best. Invincible is considered the best album of that decade. He sold out two MSG concerts in 2001 in NO TIME. His HIStory album is to this day the top selling double disc of all times. His HIStory world Tour was his highest in attendance tour ever. He sold out the stadium in Hawaii in a few hours , which was unprecedented. His Bad tour grossed 125 million $. Bad had 5 top #1 singles which still sound fresh today. Rihana’s album is said to have surpassed this record. But who knows these songs? Did she write them , compose them , produce them ? Who will remember these songs after 30 years , who even knows them now ? One direction play TWYMF and the audience of 16 year olds go crazy AFTER 30 freaking years. Michael Jackson wrote 9 out of 12 songs for his Bad album, which has sold over 30 million copies so far. He is the top earning celebrity every single year since his death. He sold 50 million albums AFTER he died. He had two Cirque du soleil tours based on his hitsongs, Immortal and MJ ONE , which were by far more successful than the Beatles’ or Elvis’. Even before he died he sold out 50 concert dates in the same arena. Who else could do that?’’ This is it’’ became the highest grossing concert documentary of all times. It grossed over 300 million $. He was broke when he died some would argue. Yes, but how much money did he give to charity? How much is his Estate now worth? How much money did he leave to charities from his now 1 billion $ Estate which has already paid off his creditors and debts? Even at a half conscious state while he struggled to sleep and fought tooth and nail to make it to rehearsals for his comeback tour he talked about making a hospital for sick children. It was his money and he could do whatever he wanted with it. He worked non stop since the age of 6. He was robbed of his childhood and he became first the breadwinner and then the golden goose for his greedy family. Others have also filed for bankruptcy . They squandered money they inherited and NOT MONEY they worked for on drugs and a lavish lifestyle they could no longer afford. They have done no charity work other than what is related to Scientology, which would give them prestige and recognition in their sect. Michael Jackson however was genuinely interested in charity. Dr Patrick Treacy said that , NOT me. He was awarded for his humanitarian efforts numerous times. He was nominated for a Nobel Prize and he holds the world record for the celebrity who supported the most charities, 39 in total. In fact, they were many more. He was vocal about his charities some argue. Yes , but so is Angelina Jolie. A former heroin addict and homewrecker has become an ambassador of good will and a role model. Who hasn’t heard about her adopted from 3rd world countries children and gigantic donations? Yet she is given so much credit for her charities which is only a fracture of what MJ gave and his Estate still does to people in need.He was a drug addict some claim. Yes , he developed a painkiller addiction because of burn and performance injuries , which caused him excruciating physical pain. He didn’t choose to abuse illegal substances for recreational purposes like others did cocaine since they were 14 and until recently simply to get high. He sustained 2nd and 3rd degree burn injuries in 1984 and he gave all the money he would have been compensated for by Pepsi to fund a burn injury wing. He went to rehab in 1994 for opioid addiction in some say. Yes , but that was only because he had an oral and scalp reconstructive surgery from which he had no time to recover before he went on his Dangerous Tour to raise money for his Heal the World Foundation which helped thousands of people in the world. He gave his 1993 Super bowl performance fee to charity. He gave his Victory tour proceeds to charity in 1984. He gave a charity concert in Munich to raise money for developing countries and he nearly got killed due to an accident he had on stage. Yet , even though he experienced unbelievable pain he finished the show before he collapsed in agony and was once again in pain medication through no fault of his own, which unlike cocaine , are NOT drugs of choice. He worked with the best in business some say. Yes , he did. But they wanted to work with him too. Michael had a career long before Quincy Jones and long after him. To many people Dangerous and Invincible are Michael’s best albums, none of which was produced by Quincy. It was Quincy Jones who offered to work with Michael Jackson after he worked with him at Wiz. Would Jones, who had by then worked with the best in business want to produce Michael Jackson’s album, if he didn’t think he was very talented ? It was Michael who insisted that Billie Jean was included in Thriller , Quincy didn’t see how successful it would become. Mic Jagger, Paul McCartney, Freddy Mercury , Eddie Van Halen , Wi.ll.iam ALL wanted to work with Michael Jackson. Even those who didn’t work with him like Madonna and Prince admired him and acknowledged his talent. Prince called him a genius. Madonna said he was mind boggligly talented. Lenny Kravitz and Pharell Williams also said Michael was a genius. Beyonce has publicly stated that if it weren’t for Michael Jackson she would never have performed . Chris Brown said that Michael Jackson is the reason he does music. The entire Bollywood is influenced by Michael Jackson. Not to mention Britney Spears, Justin Timberlake , Lady Gaga , Bruno Mars, Justin Bieber , Usher, Akon. Late Amy Winehouse said Michael Jackson was a f *king genius and she didn’t know whether she wanted to marry him or be him.Others also tried to release albums and worked with the best in business BUT they failed miserably because they completely lacked talent. Lisa Marie worked with all Alanis Morissette’s songwriters and producers. Alanis Morissette went on to sell 30 million copies with her album Jagged Little Pill and win all Grammys, with legendary Mariah Carey as a co nominee then who lost all the awards to Alanis .Yet Lisa Marie Presley , who pursued a singing career though she objectively can’t carry a tune, hardly sold 15000 albums. Still she gave interviews to journalists like Diane Sawyer and Oprah Winfrey in which she mostly talked about her sham marriage to Michael Jackson rather than her work. She could have made it a condition not to be asked questions about Michael but she would NOT have been interviewed then, which as stupid as she is, she knew. Michael never badmouthed her yet she non stop trashed him. However, some say he was the one who had an agenda, even though he NEVER mentioned her after the ‘’divorce’’. Yes , he made a mistake to agree to a pr stunt marriage to quell gay rumours after the ’93 scandal as he made a mistake to settle the civil lawsuit out of court as both made him look guilty even though he wasn’t. In 1997 he fired the person who talked him into the pr stunt marriage. Lisa Marie however was 100% aware the marriage was a pr stunt and she agreed to it. It was her damn choice too. She wasn’t classy enough to keep her opinion, whichever that was, to herself yet she dissed non stop a man who conveniently only AFTER he died she alleged she dated for years during the exact same time she mocked him and publicly ridiculed him when he was ALIVE. Not to mention she dated other men then. Not to mention she gave numerous interviews in which she said she had had no contact with Michael Jackson FOR YEARS. You can argue with me but you CANNOT argue with the facts. So who had an agenda? Michael at least kept a dignified silence about the fiasco. She still lies and clinges to her ancient sham marriage to MJ to stay relevant. He wanted her for her Presley name some argue. Brett Livingstone , the matchmaker , confirmed that she was the aggressor , that she insisted to meet him personally , that she pestered him to introduce her to Michael Jackson , NOT the other way around. Karen Faye , who knew Michael Jackson FOR YEARS and was an insider then , said that Presley pursued Michael with a vengence even when she was still married to Danny Keough and she demanded Michael became a Scientologist. Faye said that Lisa Marie Presley was an entirely different person before the marriage than she was after. So who had an agenda? She gave a series of interviews berating Michael Jackson when she released an album and wanted to promote it. So who had an agenda? He said nothing about her except he wished her all the best but refused to comment on their ‘’marriage’’. It was Nicolas Cage , her 3rd husband , who was an ardent fan of Elvis, not Michael Jackson . Cage divorced her in approximately 108 days. They were friends she said. But she had not had any contact with Michael Jackson she said THEN. Those her exact OWN words. You can argue with me but you cannot argue with the facts. Yet, after Michael Jackson died she said otherwise when she once again wanted to promote another utterly failed album. So who lied ? Who had an agenda? He only went out with celebrities some say. It was Brooke Shields who asked him to take her to the Grammys in 1984 for publicity reasons and he only took her so as not to hurt her feelings then. He wanted to take Ross instead. She appeared unannounced at Hayvenhurst and asked him to consider taking her to the Grammys. She introduced herself to him at Oscars 1981 which he attended with Ross urged by her momager. Brooke later went out with George Michael again for publicity reasons and she later married Andre Aggasi, a well known tennis player. Brooke gave a string of interviews after Michael died because the fact that she gave a eulogy at his funeral made her relevant again. They were friends by what she said. They were both child stars and they understood each other, she said. He called her when her father died and he sent her flowers the moment he was informed she suffered from post partum depression and was suicidal, she said . Tatum O Neal admitted they dated and they made out but he was in love with Diana Ross and it was real, she said. Elizabeth Taylor changed her burial arrangements for Michael Jackson. She wanted to be buried next to Richard Burton in Switzerland, to whom she was married twice , yet upon Michael’s death she decided she wanted to be buried next to him in Forest Lawn. She was 26 years his senior yet they were good friends FOR YEARS because they were both child stars and they both had abusive fathers. He had the worst childhood, Taylor said about Michael. Hers was the second worst. She was married to Mike Todd , Eddie Fischer and Richard Burton. They were all celebrities. Madonna was married to Sean Penn and Guy Richie . She dated Warren Beatty , John John Kennedy , Dennis Rodman , who were all celebrities. Prince dated Kim Bassinger and Carmen Electra , who were all celebrities. It’s quite common for celebrities to date celebrities. Yet, he dated two non celebrities women before he died nicknamed ‘’flower’’ and ‘’friend’’. He wanted to marry a girl and have more kids with her. He wrote her love letters. He had a 14000 item heterosexual, adult porn collection. He had erections on stage when his female fans hugged him. He was caught checking women out all the time. Yet, they say he was gay, asexual, presexual, transsexual. Steven Hoefflin went to Hugh Hefner’s mansion with Michael Jackson in 1987 and he confirmed that Michael was ‘’ certainly into women. He looked and commented on the girls just like any man would’’. Diana Ross spent the night in his apartment while they were filming the Wiz in New York and she said ‘’ Michael is certainly not gay’’. He was a Playboy and a Hustler subscriber. David Gest confirmed Michael had wild sex with a woman who was also a co star of his. Frank Cascio confirmed Michael had casual sex with women of which he wasn’t proud. He didn’t want to be a cheap womanizer like his father and his brothers who cheated on his mother and their wives non stop. He said there was nothing sexual about his sleepovers in Neverland. Aaron Carter and Frank Cascio said they saw Michael Jackson make out with women several times. His bodyguards said they could hear him make out with women in the back seat. ‘’Men know men’’ they said. ‘’He had needs like men do’’ they said. Pharell Williams said that Michael Jackson was accompanied by two exotic , gorgeous women the first time he met him and shared a passionate kiss with one of them in front of him. Karen Faye and Michael Bush who both worked for Michael Jackson for 30 years said Michael was ABSOLUTELY NOT GAY AND CERTAINLY NOT A PEDOPHILE. Michael LePeruque , Michael Jackson’s chief security and a retired police officer testified under oath that he never believed Michael Jackson was a pedophile and if he believed that he would have arrested him himself. He was friends with Lionel Richie, Michael Gibb, Miko Brando , Liz Taylor, Liza Minelli, David Gest , Carrie Fisher , Cathy Hilton , Gregory Peck , Marlon Brando, Michael Bush, Karen Faye , the Cascio family , Mac Culkin, Chris Tucker FOR YEARS. He was godfather to Richie’s , Brando’s and Gibb’s kids. He wanted to be Godfather to Brooke Shields’ baby. Liz Taylor and Mac Culkin were Godparents to Michael’s kids. He met Liz Taylor in 1984 and Mac Culkin in 1991. They both attended his private funeral grief stricken. He put his nieces and nephews through school. Yet some say he was not able to form a relationship with anyone. Last time i checked celebrities marry and divorce several times. Janet Jackson , Michael’s sister , has been married and divorced three times. So has Lisa Marie Presley (4). Brad Pitt has been divorced twice, Jennifer Aniston has been married and divorced twice , Angelina Jolie has been married and divorced three times, Jennifer Lopez has three divorces and a failed engagement, Tom Cruise has been married and divorced three times, Kate Winslet has been married three times and divorced twice , Leonardo Di Caprio, Wynona Ryder ,Jared Leto have yet to get married, Marylin Monroe was married and divorced three times. Diana Ross has been married and divorced twice. So has Scarlett Johanson. Michael Jackson was not the only celebrity to have been married and divorced. In reality, he was never really married to anyone but to his music and his kids.He spent inapropriate amount of time with children some say. Yes, he did. He visited an orphanage and a children’s hospital in EVERY city he toured. People who worked with him for YEARS like Frank DiLeo and Kenny Ortega confirmed that. He made gigantic donations and covered poor kids’ medical expenses FOR YEARS. He saved a poor kid’s life from Budapest in 1995. He visited that hospital with Lisa Marie Presley. But he found Bela Farkas a liver transplant. He paid for his medical costs FOR YEARS. He sent him birthday and Christmas cards and gifts every single year until he died in 2009. NOT Lisa Marie Presley. Bela Farkas cried as though he lost his father when Michael Jackson died in 2009, which is a lot more that i can say for Evan Chandler , who committed suicide a few months after Michael died in 2009 and ABSOLUTELY NOONE ATTENDED HIS FUNERAL. None of his three kids and large Jewish family. His son Jordan whom Michael allegedly molested requested legal emancipation from his father in 1996 and in 2005 he sued his father and took a restraining order against him.He was a pedophile some say. No child porn was ever found in any of his houses which were numerous times raided by the Police and on his computers which were consficated by the FBI. He settled a civil lawsuit about child molestation some say. Exactly. It was a civil lawsuit FOR MONEY. The Chandlers filed a civil lawsuit asking for money instead of going to the Police. They consulted a high profile civil attorney , Barry Rothman, whose secretary Geraldine Hughes ( who has been a very religious person ) wrote a book in which she explains thoroughly Rothman’s and Chandler’s scheme to extort money from Michael Jackson in 1993, to see how much they would get out of it and they NEVER pursued a criminal trial. The Chandlers fired Gloria Allred who wanted to go to court and they hired Larry Feldman, to whom the Arvizos were also referred in 2003 and it was ONLY then they accused Michael Jackson , whom they defended until then. Larry King testified under oath that Larry Feldman told him that Janet Arvizo was a psychopath who was only AFTER MONEY. The Chandlers’ also wrote in their book that they wanted a high profile settlement instead of a trial and that had Michael Jackson paid them the money they demanded in August 1993 they would have left him alone. If he was guilty then why didn’t he pay them hush money right then and there ? Who said dear people that a civil settlement prevents prosecution, testimony, investigation or conviction? These two are NOT mutually exclusive or even legally related!!! He was investigated long after the settlement and in spite of it. He was even strip searched yet he was NOT INDICTED even after the police had his naked pictures, which means that Jordan Chandler , the alleged victim lied and never saw him naked !!! Jordan Chandler refused to testify UNDER OATH against Michael Jackson twice , even as an adult yet he threatened to legally fight any subpoena to testify in 2005 and left the USA. His bipolar father and his uncle also refused to testify in a court of law.Innocent until proven guilty you say in the USA. He was unanimously acquitted in 2005 by a peer of white, conservative and educated jury even though two of them wanted to profit from a guilty verdict. The allegations were brought by a white trash family who had a history of shoplifting , perjury, welfare fraud, extortion and who prior to Jackson falsely and effortlessly accused under oath two other men of sex abuse : a JC PENNEY security guard who caught them shoplifting and their father , who said that Janet Arvizo, the alleged victim’s mother is a compulsive liar who coached their kids to lie, especially about sex abuse. The Arvizos denied any molestation on at least four occasions before they came up with those allegations and they were everywhere singing Michael Jackson’s praises thus they were disproved in a court of law. It was Janet’s erratic testimony and Gavin’s testimony with a huge smirk on his face that dismantled the Prosecution’s case , which was built on falsehoods in the first place. Pedophiles have hundreds of victims , not 3 or 4 , all proven liars , extortionists and profiteers . Jerry Sandusky had 35 accusers none of whom asked for money, refused to testify against him or defended him, including his own adopted son.He hated his race some say. He intentionally bleached his skin to look white some say. Vitiligo is definitively confirmed in his autopsy report. The coroner who signed the autopsy report confirmed it and testified it in court UNDER OATH in the Murray trial in 2011. He was a damaged man with serious mental issues some say. Yes , he had issues because he had a traumatic childhood. He was physically and emotionally abused by his uneffectionate, sadistic and malignant narcissist father. He grew up in the spotlight, he had no sense of normalcy since the age of 6, he lived under scrutiny all his life. I would like to see how some of you would have done any better in his shoes!!! Michael Jackson damaged as he was accomplished a lot more in his life than so many others who had everything yet they did not even manage to graduate from high school!!! Bette Midler said about Joe Jackson who died a few months ago ‘’ i hate every single moment he lived’. If she hated him then how should Michael Jackson feel who lived with him and was regularly whipped by him over a mere wrong dance step and was nicknamed ugly, fat nose and liver lips? He had extensive cosmetic surgery some say. Yes , but so have many others. Please tell me a woman at Madonna’s age who doesn’t have a single wrinkle. Tell me if Rennee Zellweger reminds anything of her old self these days. Please tell me why Nicole Kidman’s face is completely motionless. Please tell me why Mariah Carey , Beyonce, Nicki Minaj , Rihanna have all had several nose jobs and dye their hair blonde yet nobody says they have denied their race. Michael Jackson was a major benefactor for the United Negro Fund. He financed the education of many poor African Americans in the USA, he fought for clean water and blood in Africa, he spoke about the black kid with AIDS in the ghetto who can’t wait. He did not deny his race.Michael Jackson was no doubt extremely talented , generous, compassionate, yet flawed as we all are. He was and he still is misunderstood by ignorant, biased , prejudiced and racist people who can’t accept that the greatest entertainer in the world according to Guiness Records is black. And Michael Jackson was black and identified as such and he was proud of his race. Also, his genius is undisputed.
