Personally, I’ve futzed around in the game without any mods yet, so I do not know if mods exist for it… but there is a simple thing I’d love to do in this game:I’d like to do more to help the beggars and orphans. What I mean is, I enjoy buying houses and building homesteads, but I am only allowed to adopt two kids and the game (regular) doesn’t allow you to take the beggars in the various cities and say “Hey, you be my steward” or “Hey, you live here.”I very much like to hoard stuff in my game. I’m currently working on stocking a storeroom in one of my houses as a big walk-in pantry (hoarding cheese and cooking / salting meat and stashing it). I’ve built a house that I’m making into my “mill-house” with a kitchen and stocking with stacks of flour. I’m thinking of building the third homestead and stashing all the jewels I’m finding as a thief and making it my “Scrooge McDuck Money Bin” house, but… dang it… my character might be a werewolf, a thief, an assassin, and a cannibal, but she wants to do *some* right in the world and I’d love to be able to invite the homeless beggars in and make charity houses.Or, alternately, to make settlements, like you can in Fallout 4 - which would serve the same purpose.I feel very silly for wanting this. This is a game where you hunt for treasure and do murder-death-kill, but I think the the game missed this little opportunity for… redemption… in its harsh world.

The Sack of Constantinople in 1204 is relatively well known event that resulted in the deaths of thousands, physical destruction and looting. However a forgotten atrocity that occurred in the city 24 years earlier was the Massacre of the Latins in 1182.‘Latin’ at this time was used by the Romans to describe Catholics from the Italian city states such as Venice, Pisa and Genoa. Under Emperor Alexios I, Venetians were granted various economic privileges in the empire. His son, Manuel would try to limit these privileges by signing treaties with Venice’s adversaries, Genoa, Pisa and Amalfi. All four were allowed to construct communities in the city.The Latins were not liked in Constantinople. They were seen as arrogant and were tough to control as the different communities would raid and destroy each other’s property. In fact in 1171, Manuel seized all Venetian property and arrested all the Venetians for the attack on the Genoese quarter. As well, there was religious tensions. The local Romans were Orthodox, the Latins were Catholic. Economically, local merchants could not compete with Latin merchants due to the privileges they were given. The Latin merchants tied themselves to the aristocracy and bought large estates for themselves which incurred antipathy from the locals.It did not help when Manuel died, leaving his 10 year old son Alexios II under Maria of Antioch who was a Frank and favored the Latin merchants. Andronikos Komnenos, the late Emperor’s cousin, used the popular resentment the locals had against Maria and the Latins to become Emperor.There is some disagreement among sources. One source claims that Andronikos did not explicitly incite the local populace to attack the Latins, the other claims he did.Either way, there was a massacre and there was terrible carnage. Latins were killed in the thousands regardless of their age or gender, even the helpless lying in hospital beds were murdered. It’s also claimed that charities, houses and churches were looted. Priests and Catholic clergy were not spared either, the Papal Legate John, was beheaded and his head was tied to a dog’s tail. The Genoan and Pisan communities were decimated and the 4,000 survivors sold into slavery.
