Olympic teams are chosen by national federations in the various sports.In the US, for example, you would have to be chosen by USA Track & Field. You need to identify the track & field federation (sometimes called by the traditional name Athletics) for your country and find out how they choose the national team.Good luck.

Last year, this question was asked to Anju Bobby George. To date, she is India's only medalist at the World Championships (she won bronze in long jump in 2003), and she has remained a vocal presence for athletics in India. Her response:“The system! The athletes and the coaches alone can’t do anything if they are not well supported and the setup is not in place. We need to change the whole system, as they are not serious in their approach. Plus, with cases of doping emerging all over the place, it only gets tougher. We must come together and fight against these issues,” [1]I completely agree with her. The nations that have successful athletics teams are the ones that have strong federations. The infrastructure and support system must be in place. A good federation helps advocate for the sport, educate coaches, and usher in the next generation of talent. Unfortunately, the Athletics Federation of India hasn't gotten the job done.One of my biggest issues with AFI is that they set their standards too low. Rather than trying to win at the Olympic level, they seem to be content to merely competing in the Asian Games and Commonwealth Games. As long as the federation is willing to settle for less, they will never be competitive against the best.The athletes and coaches are in place, but they need more nurturing. They need financial support, good long- and short-term goals for development, better facilities, and an environment that encourages excellence in athletics.I would also recommend recruiting a few advisers from USA Track and Field, Jamaica Athletics Administrative Association, Deutscher Leichtathletik-Verband (German Athletics Association), U.K. Athletics, Fédération française d'athlétisme (French Athletics Federation), Athletics Kenya, or any other successful federation. Since an EMP pulse on a large scale can only be generated by a nuclear warhead such an attack would be considered a nuclear strike against the USA. There is only one type of response for that.So in a manner of speaking, absent extraordinary restraint or specific circumstances, the same kind of weapon would be used in kind. Except it wouldn't be detonated at high altitude; it would be detonated at airburst height over the parties responsible for ordering a crippling nuclear attack against the United States.A nuclear attack is a nuclear attack. No one has ever crossed that Rubicon in the modern era. WW2 doesn't count since only one country had nuclear weapons at that time. Nuclear weapons usage where both parties have them remains the realm of theory. There is no "gradual" with nuclear warheads.The question assumes that, somehow, Russia would be able to engage in a preemptive first strike and not have the USA track the origin of the warhead. This is largely impossible. And while the warhead is inbound, it will be assumed its track will lead to a surface attack on the USA. It would not be possible to determine is was "merely" an EMP crippling strike. And since such a strike would have the same outcome as a massive initial exchange in terms of disruption to capabilities and the ability of the country to function and survive, Russia would get off exceedingly lucky with only warheads in return against the responsible parties.The more likely outcome is it would be interpreted as an attempt to destroy the USA and the National Command Authority (the President of the United States) would order a counterforce strike against Russian missiles to prevent a follow-up attack in addition to killing those responsible.This has never happened in the modern era. It is the realm of theory. It deserves to stay there because no one really know where that road leads once you cross the nuclear Rubicon. One thing is for sure: There is no going back.
