When it was revealed the Russians hacked the 2016 elections, the Republicans attempted to prove it was a CIA and FBI plot against the president.They said nothing about the outrageous voice of the president as he chose to stand up for radicals in Charlottesville, sat quietly as he attacked the football players protesting discrimination, and has done nothing to curb gun violence.The republican Party knew when they passed the tax cuts the bulk of the cuts would go to the top wage earners and wealthy people who didn’t need more tax savings.Republicans own all the state houses in the country, the county and local governments and even the PTA, mainly because they have redistributed the voting districts in their favor.The New York Times and the Washington Post have been labeled by the president as fake news, even though fact checks prove they are telling the truth, while the president lies through his teeth.Has the Republican party supported a free press in the country? Again, dead silence. A list of the outrages against decency and common law is long and has been well established by the presidents tweets, his pronouncements and the reporting in the media, which fact checking also proves to be true.His own lawyer and associates are in jail or heading there and the Republicans don’t have a word to say. Now, the government is shut down because a petulant and childish chief executive hides in the White House and demands a ridiculous wall so he can please his base. The shut downs are a Republican tool they use to hold the Democrats and the rest of the country hostage. The cost to human lives is staggering. I remember when Ted Cruz and Paul Ryan shut down the government at a cost then of 5 billion dollars. This shutdown will cost at least three times that. Think of what could be done with that money to alleviate the suffering of veterans, the homeless and those who could work if they had retraining.Now the Republicans have their tax cut and the Democrats control Congress, Republicans will pull the old Reagan trick out of the hat and declare the Democrats the big spenders, when everyone knows it is the republicans who have sent the public debt into the stratosphere with their reckless spending ways.Yes, the Republican party is irresponsible. They and they alone are responsible for the criminal oaf in the White house. They knew he was a failed businessman, heavily in debt to foreign banks, including some in Russia. They knew about his sexual proclivities that included demeaning women. They knew he imported illegal foreign workers to work on his projects and then didn’t pay them. He ran out on workers and vendors in New Jersey and left the state holding the bag. His hotel in Las Vegas can’t get a gaming license. They also knew or should have known he is a racist and was fined by the housing authority for discrimination in his properties.A simple background check would have brought up the fact he never pays what he owes and is unable to borrow money in the United States. The long list of those who sue him for payment and never got paid because he ties them up in the courts is legend.Traditionally, the political parties seek candidates who pass rigorous standards of conduct for the highest office in the land. They want a president who can greet foreign dignitaries with decorum and someone who respects the history and office of president but acting like school boys, they chose the candidate who was out there on the campaign trail appealing to the lowest common denominator, a snake oil salesman, who, assuring his delighted followers, he would make everything they desired come true, even designing a red hat, made in china that he sold for $35.The Republican party has reached a new low and it will take a miracle for them to come back in 2020, let alone reelect the present occupant of the Oval Office.
