Why is Jimi Hendrix so revered as a guitar player, when all he seemed to do was play blues scales with distortion? And he never seemed to play an acoustic instrument?

I won’t rehash the excellent answers given by the others who are on this thread (much respect to all!). I would simply like to offer a handful of examples for the OP to contemplate. On Purple Haze, Hendrix started with a tritone; a Bb against an E tonic, played the head which offers a phrasing counterpoint to the on-the-beat bass line and drum part. The verse begins with an E7#9 chord, the turnaround employs a b2 in the melody, and the solo uses an E Dorian mode. These musical devices do not belong in blues. The guitar parts on the title track of his first solo album, Are You Experienced? were recorded backwards. Yet everything fit perfectly. Hendrix was thinking the music backwards. Even the best Blues musicians generally can’t do this (although I believe Mozart could). He also does this on Castles Made of Sand, and Drifting (which was finished, but not released until after he died).Third Stone from the Sun begins with some jazz influenced dominant 9th chords against a modal bass line, before changing to a minor key and becoming a chaotic representation of the destruction of the earth.Little Wing is a masterpiece that does not use any noticeable elements of the blues. Permit me to draw your attention to the introduction, where he brilliantly interjected a Bm9 chord into an E minor tonality, then, after the Am, C, and G, fits an F; all the while extending the harmony of each chord with passing tones that blur the line between rhythm and lead / chords and melody.Have You Ever Been to Electric Ladyland uses a very sophisticated jazz / R&B chord progression. It begins Amaj7, C#m7, Bm11, Dmaj7, C#m7, Bm7. This is not a blues I, IV, V progression.Rainy Day Dream Away uses a nice arrangement of jazzy 9th chords, and a guest saxophonist.1983, A Merman I Should Turn To Be is an astonishing work. Hendrix arranged the parts and electronic sounds to create what can best be described as an electronic symphony.Listen to the intro of Hey Baby: New Rising Sun. The piece starts with an E riff, ascends chromatically a minor 6th to C major, then uses a chromatic melody starting on the relative minor to bring the chord to G major. The middle of the intro goes to Eb Major and Ab major, and moves harmonically into the verse; a simple Am, G, F, D. The chorus alters itself to A major, giving a beautiful contrast. The studio recording wasn’t released until after he died, but he often played it live on his later tours. He’d often lead up to it with a Flamenco type improvisation (often E major to F major, with melodies that play with the dichotomy between minor and major).Hendrix’ skills at improvisation are legendary. So much so, in fact, that jazz musicians such as Miles Davis, John McLaughlin, Larry Coryell, Rahsaan Roland Kirk, Larry Young, and others were very impressed with his musical abilities.Hendrix frequently used harmonized melodies, and mixed harmonies of 3rds, 4ths, 5ths, 6ths, and (on rare occasion) major 2nds.Hendrix often used what’s become known as the “Hendrix Scale.” This is an altered pentatonic, which lowers the tonic of a minor blues pentatonic scale a minor 2nd, against a primary tonic a 5th above (or major 3rd below the lowered tonic). For example, if the bass is playing an E, He’d play an A pentatonic minor, with the A lowered to a G#, which gave the E a major tonality. This works well with the aforementioned E7#9 (a.k.a. “Hendrix Chord). No blues musician did this before Hendrix.I could come up with a dozen or so more examples. But I trust I’ve made my point. In fact, by the time Hendrix died, he was already outgrowing much of what I’d mentioned here, and ready to break new innovative ground.I suggest you delve deeper into Hendrix’ music. You will be pleasantly surprised at the amazing music you will uncover. During the short career of less than four years, he re-wrote the entire musical vocabulary of the electric guitar, and laid the groundwork for much of the music that came in the decades that followed him. In fact, your own musical heroes stood on his shoulders, built upon the work he pioneered (with no previous model to work from) and hold him in reverence. Ask any of them; they will bow their heads in respect at the mention of Hendrix’ name.

Does Soyeon (G) I-dle get the most line because she produces the song?

Yes, she does. But, actually, I don’t find any problems. Many people are saying things like “She just wants to get attention -and she won’t” or some sh*t like that. But I think she deserves it, since she wrote the lyrics, and sometimes she even composes and arranges them.Actually, I’m going to put all (G) I-DLE’s songs she wrote/composed/arranges.Firstly, their debut album (I am):1- LatataLyrics: SoyeonComposer: Soyeon, Big SanchoArranger: Big Sancho, Soyeon2 - DollarLyrics: SoyeonComposer: Yoon Jongseong (MonoTree), Le’monArranger: Yoon Jongseong (MonoTree)3- MazeLyrics: Son Yeongjin, FERDY, SoyeonComposer: Son Yeongjin, FERDYArranger: Son Yeongjin, FERDY4- Don’t Text MeLyrics: Big Sancho, Park Haeil, Jerry Potter, SoyeonComposer: Big Sancho, Park Haeil, Jerry PotterArranger: Big Sancho, Park Haeil5- What’s In Your House / I Want to KnowLyrics: ARIN, VINCENZO, Fuxxy, Any Masingga, SoyeonComposer: ARIN, VINCENZO, Fuxxy, Any MasinggaArranger: VINCENZO, Any MasinggaShe composed 5/6 of the songs in this albumNext album, I made6- SenoritaLyrics: SoyeonComposer: Big Sancho, SoyeonArranger: Big Sancho, Soyeon7- What’s Your NameLyrics: SoyeonComposer: Soyeon, CollapsedoneArranger: Soyeon, Collapsedone8- Put It Straight/Say NoLyrics: SoyeonComposer: SoyeonArranger: Soyeon, Houdini9- Give Me YourLyrics: SoyeonComposer: Soyeon, HoudiniArranger: Soyeon, Houdini9- Blow Your MindLyrics: Minnie (yes, Gidle’s Minnie *^*), Soyeon, Flow BlowComposer: Minnie, Flow BlowArranger: Minnie, Flow Blow(Note: yeah, it’s true that here basically it’s Minnie but I’m putting it here because she also wrote a part -most likely the rap)And now, she composed 5/5 of the songs of this album.Their lastly released album, “I trust” (a total masterpeice, by the way)9- Oh My GodLyrics: SoyeonComposer: Big Sancho, SoyeonArranger: Big Sancho, Soyeon9- Luv ULyrics: SoyeonComposer: Big Sancho, SoyeonArranger: Big Sancho, Soyeon9- LionLyrics: SoyeonComposer: Big Sancho, SoyeonArranger: Big Sancho, Soyeon10- MaybeLyrics: SoyeonComposer: Soyeon, CollapsedoneArranger: Collapsedone11- Oh My God (English Ver.)Lyrics: SoyeonComposer: Big Sancho, SoyeonArranger: Big Sancho, Soyeon**Note: To be honest, I’m not sure about this last. It seems impossible for Soyeon -who’s just fairly fluent- to write a whole English song all by herself. It’s like she received help -but anyways. She also wrote “For You” (a Japanese track) with Minnie (Minnie also is a great writter), Uh-Oh, Help Me, I Wanna Be (a featured single with Key), Hang Out (with Huta), Wow Thing (a Seulgi X SinB X Chungha X Soyeon collaboration), Young One & Mermaid (United Cube, the group of all Cube members), and, sure enough, her own songs “Idle Song” & “Jelly”.In conclusion:If the members actually don’t really have a problem with it, why do the called “Neverland”s have? As a Neverland, I’ll still support her and the whole group because they deserve it.-chuxia
