Getting a house for rent can be difficult for unmarried men.Today a man saw the to-let board(which mentioned that first floor is available for rent) that we hanged on the gate of our two-floored building and came inside to introduce himself to my mom and said that he want to take the first floor for rent.Here's how the conversion went from there onwards:Mom: How many people are there in your family?He: I don't have a family here, they live in my village. A man who has married a woman gets more respect than unmarried man.

Which is bhog.We donate to underprivileged and also to God in the form of offerings like milk, flowers, cloth and prasad. This is Daan.And if you don't perform daan and bhog. Your good karma will be destroyed, hence Naash.We have clear divisions. A balance has to be maintained.Daan is always given as per your wish and the money you have. Can not be forced.

I'm a software engineer. I'm 29 years old, single, pay under $800 a month for rent in the Bay Area, have paid off all my student loans, live comfortably but fairly frugally, and have no health issues. Realistically, I probably make about three times more than I need to in order to maintain my lifestyle. Yet I'm still constantly wondering if I make enough money. Here's a few reasons why:1. Ingrained competitiveness. Most software engineers were "the smart one" growing up. Doing well in school was literally the most important thing to me as a child. I'd sulk if I didn't score better than everyone else in the class on my math tests. I know that isn't a healthy attitude, and I try to curb it. But it's still there, and that little sulking boy still wants to be the best in the class. Except now, the "score" is the salary, and the "class" is Silicon Valley.2. Compensating for not living up to expectations. If you're not in the tech industry, you form your ideas about what the tech industry is like from "Silicon Valley" or reading about the Mark Zuckerbergs of the world, which can make Silicon Valley seem like a magical land where giant novelty checks are given out for stupid ideas and engineers are the kings. But most engineers haven't been bought out, or co-founded a company, or really done anything other than go to work and gotten a paycheck. So it becomes easy to focus on that paycheck, as if to tell yourself, "Well, even if I'm not a millionaire, at least I'm making X% better than the average person."3. Arrogance. As an engineer, I feel like I should be the most important person in the company. It's very easy to point at some piece of code I wrote and say, "Without this thing that I PERSONALLY WROTE, none of our products would work." It gives you an exaggerated sense of your own importance. When you see that someone in project management, or QA, or business development, or really any other part of the business is making as much or more than you, it feels like a slap in the face, because as the engineer, you've created something!Obviously, these are all symptoms of some sort of narcissistic personality disorder, and I should probably be in therapy. But I don't think they're uncommon ways of thinking among engineers.EDIT:Wow, I never expected this kind of a response! A lot of people are seeming to get caught up on that first part where I said that I pay under $800 a month for rent. I answered in the comments, but for those who missed it, I manage this by sharing a house in Daly City with some friends. Our total rent is about $3500 a month before utilities, which gets split 5 ways. It's not much different than living in college, except we can afford higher-quality takeout now.
