My wife is another adult. She does not need my permission to do anything. If she wanted to work abroad, she would work abroad. That would be her choice. I might express an opinion about it, but that is far different than allowing or not allowing something.You seem to mistake spouse or SO with “minor child” or “slave”. You can allow or not allow your minor child to do something. Back in the days of slavery, (and yes, I know that there are places where slavery still exists), a master could control what a slave did, and probably would not allow a slave to work in another country where slavery might not be legal and the slave would be free the moment he/she set foot in the place.If you are in a place where a spouse or SO needs permission to visit another country, then I hope the spouse or SO can get asylum when he/she does so.
