Which one is better regarding a home loan, ICICI or SBI?

I would always go with good old State Bank of IndiaI will explain whyICICI has many advantages.Better ServiceMore Flexible. Even if Total EMI is more than 40% of Joint Income - they will use their discretion and may grant the LoanBetter Document Delivery and CollectionFaster Processing especially during Quarterly ClosingGood Floating RatesHowever the greatest disadvantages include:-Outside agencies for Recovery compared to SBIs own Manager Sahibs (Basically this means GOONDAS)SBIs Legal Verification is much better than ICICI where lawyers barely do any actual ground workCheaper Processing FeesMore Flexibility in case of Default. You will get more time in SBI than in ICICINo Giro - In ICICI you have Giro wherein ICICI have the power to automatically debit any of your accounts towards EMI of the Housing Loan is the same is not credited by a specific date. SBI has no such Giro. You can keep money in your SB in SBI and yet they wont deduct to pay your Housing Loan EMI unless Loan becomes or is at risk of becoming NPASBI actually has a Point Man (Manager) who can restructure the loan himself or with permission of Regional Manager. ICICI has no such facility. Nobody knows who is in charge of the LoanConclusionA Home Loan is a long term prospect. Its like a marriageICICI is like a hot Katrina Kaif type of Bride - as long as you keep buying trinkets and jewelry and clothes - she is your best wife but once they dry up - she will jump ship (I am not actually talking about Katrina Kaif but about a bride whom you marry 100% for looks)SBI is more of a Normal Bride - who will be more loyal or faithful to you and will not immediately jump ship and will give a long rope before doing so.So you decide what type of Man you are then you can decide SBI or ICICI

What shocking things do most Indians not know?

RBI has NEVER passed any order to link Bank Accounts with Aadhaar.Yes, you read that right.Nearly all of us have received numerous text messages and emails from banks stating that it’s ‘mandatory’ to link Aadhaar number to our bank accounts in order to continue banking, else the accounts will be closed. The truth is RBI has NOT issued any such regulation in this regard. This has been brought to light through a Right To Information (RTI) application filed by Mr. Yogesh Sapkale.[1][1][1][1]To which the RBI responded:“The Government has issued a Gazette Notification GSR 538(E) dated 1 June 2017 regarding Prevention of Money laundering (Maintenance of Records) Second Amendment Rules, 2017, inter-alia, making furnishing of Aadhaar (for those individuals who are eligible to be enrolled for Aadhaar) and permanent number (PAN) mandatory for opening a bank account. It may be noted that Reserve Bank has not yet issued instruction in this regard”.RBI added that it “has not issued any instruction so far regarding mandatory linking of Aadhaar number with bank accounts.”Here is the copy of the RTI:Image Credit: Money LifeMoreover, the RTI also revealed that there is no petition filed in the Supreme Court by the RBI to gain explicit permission for asking customers to link bank accounts with Aadhaar. Here is what Section 7 of the Aadhaar Act on the usage of Aadhaar card says:[2][2][2][2]“The Central Government or, as the case may be, the State Government may, for the purpose of establishing identity of an individual as a condition for receipt of a subsidy, benefit or service for which the expenditure is incurred from, or the receipt therefrom forms part of, the Consolidated Fund of India (CFI), require that such individual undergo authentication, or furnish proof of possession of Aadhaar number….”To your utter surprise, it’s not only the banks.Telecom companies did the same!We have been getting similar messages from our telecom service providers saying that as per the Government directive it is mandatory to link Aadhaar card with mobile number. This is again not true and a misinterpretation of order from Supreme court.[3][3][3][3]The SC asked the Central Government to ensure 100% verification of mobile phone subscribers with regard to their identity and ensuring that no fake or unverified identities should be issued SIM cards. The Government proposed Aadhaar as a way of verifying numbers and projected it as the best form of e-KYC for new customers as it’s based on consumers’ biometric and demographic data. The Supreme Court made note of the Government’s proposal and reverted to the issue of phone verification by saying that “a similar verification” would be completed in a year.Nowhere did the Court state that Aadhaar numbers should be linked with mobile SIMs.UPDATE (22 Oct 2017):The Reserve Bank of India on 21 October said that linking of Aadhaar to bank account is MANDATORY under the Prevention of Money-Laundering (Maintenance of Records).[4][4][4][4]This was followed by the media report quoting RBI’s reply to the RTI application that linking of bank accounts with Aadhaar is not mandatory.Footnotes[1] http://www.moneylife.in/article/bank-aadhaar-linking-rbi-never-issued-any-order-reveals-rti/51926.html[1] http://www.moneylife.in/article/bank-aadhaar-linking-rbi-never-issued-any-order-reveals-rti/51926.html[1] http://www.moneylife.in/article/bank-aadhaar-linking-rbi-never-issued-any-order-reveals-rti/51926.html[1] http://www.moneylife.in/article/bank-aadhaar-linking-rbi-never-issued-any-order-reveals-rti/51926.html[2] https://uidai.gov.in/images/circular_section_7_of_aadhaar_act_15092016.pdf[2] https://uidai.gov.in/images/circular_section_7_of_aadhaar_act_15092016.pdf[2] https://uidai.gov.in/images/circular_section_7_of_aadhaar_act_15092016.pdf[2] https://uidai.gov.in/images/circular_section_7_of_aadhaar_act_15092016.pdf[3] Linking Mobile Number With Aadhaar: Misinterpreting A Supreme Court Order | Live Law[3] Linking Mobile Number With Aadhaar: Misinterpreting A Supreme Court Order | Live Law[3] Linking Mobile Number With Aadhaar: Misinterpreting A Supreme Court Order | Live Law[3] Linking Mobile Number With Aadhaar: Misinterpreting A Supreme Court Order | Live Law[4] RBI clarifies why linking of Aadhaar with bank account is mandatory[4] RBI clarifies why linking of Aadhaar with bank account is mandatory[4] RBI clarifies why linking of Aadhaar with bank account is mandatory[4] RBI clarifies why linking of Aadhaar with bank account is mandatory
