I am Studying Project Management. And I am look for Research Topic? Any clue where should i start

There is a lot of buzz on how to use agile methodologies outside the software development realm. Not sure if you are looking to get published or not but that could be a good one

How difficult is the PhD proposal defense? Do the professors really grill you and make it a miserable experience?

A2A: Traditions vary, by department, school, and country. But in CMU SCS, the proposal presentation (not really a “defense”) is not meant to be a “grilling” of the student. We save that for the thesis defense, and even there the “grilling” is more ceremonial than a real attempt to trip you up.(In 40 years in CMU SCS, I don’t think I’ve ever seen anyone fail a thesis defense outright, though the committee often asks the student to improve some areas or add some additional work. And it is an occasion for the committee to poke at the student to see if they really have become an expert in the area and have thought carefully about the topic of the thesis, in context — that is, what is the value of the work to the field as a whole.)The goal of the thesis proposal is to ensure that the student has chosen a topic that is interesting, valuable to the field, and that can be done in reasonable time. Or at least that there is some plateau that fulfills those criteria — then additional results can be added, if time allows. This often requires that the student has done some preliminary studies to show that the proposed approach is feasible. A related goal is to make sure that the student is aware of the other work in the area, past and current.Ideally, this is not done in a spirit of “Gotcha!”. The faculty really are there to help the student formulate a good project and plan of action. And, for the student, it doesn’t hurt to get a bit more practice presenting their ideas to an expert audience. This shouldn’t be a “miserable” experience. If the student feels that way, it may indicate a need for the student to give more talks — stage fright usually goes away or becomes manageable with experience — or to do more preparation.(But some faculty — none at CMU, of course — can’t resist the temptation to bully students and to show off. These people should be avoided if at all possible.)

What are some research topics in project management for a Master's degree?

I supervise Master’s students at UK universites (Manchester & Warwick) so here are some popular topics:1: The problems of managing a multi-cultural project team - Hofstede’s work is especially relevant.2: Project Management tools - gives you the chance to get to know one tool in detail or a class of tools more generally. Who uses them, what do they do, what features are used, how often are they used, - scheduling is especially popular3: Project Management Methodologies - this gives you the chance to get to know PMBoK, Prince2 and other published PM standards4: Stakeholder Management (aka engagement). What is this, what are stakeholders, how does it work, who does it.I hope that helps.
