I interned at the Defense Terrain and Research Laboratory (DTRL) of DRDO. My internship period, initially, was of two months, however, with my work contribution in the project, it was extended to six months. I got to know about this lab at DRDO from one of my senior, who interned there. He even gave me the contact of one of the top scientist over there. Soon, I drafted a well written cover letter and my resume. I mailed it to the scientist. All in good luck, I even got a reply from that scientist, probably due to my involvement in the NASA project. He then arranged a meeting with me in order to estimate my aptitude and work ethics. I met him and he then explained me about the on-going project of DRDO in Uttarakhand regarding landslide forecasting and simulations using satellite imagery and remote sensing techniques. I got hooked onto the project mainly because it was an application of remote sensing, GIS and satellite communication techniques, that I was so interested in. Also, it covered my environmental engineering curriculum due to it's application to the field of landslide forecasting. He was impressed with me in the meeting and finally told me to join his work the next week. I was always prompt and diligent with my work. I even wrote a research paper under him related to the intern project. Finally, impressed with my work for 6 months, he gave me a beautifully written letter of recommendation that aided me in my application process for higher studies. He even introduced me to the Director of the lab and was all praises about my work in front of him. I thank Dr. S.P. Mishra for guiding me and giving me the opportunity to work with him and learn.
