Let me tell you a story, about my own journey, because it is about what I've learned from personal experience. It is lengthy, for good reason. In their terms and conditions, betting sites state that online betting is for recreational purposes as stated in another answer. "No, really? Isn't that why it's called 'gaming?" But they do that for a legal reason, it turns out.The site listed the terms and requirements for making a "withdrawal" or getting one's money back, plus winnings, if any.There were several options, all cost 30-50 dollars for wire transfer or bank transfer. Even mailing a check cost $50. Other than those, they offered a debit card costing a one-time fee of $25, but that winnings could be deposited into, for no charge, and so then, free thereafter.It turns out, that taking this method required additional "verification requirements" I never had intended on doing anymore betting, anyway, but this was the cheapest way to get the most back, I decided.I made several attempts to collect, through contacting customer service, sending in verification documents, each time, I got a reply that I didn't send the correct document. Next they said they needed photos of the debit card I used to deposit money, front and back. After waiting days, they requested color photos of the card.Many of these sites will tout 24/7 online chat customer service, which is there, but they will tell you some other department is responsible for the accounting, etc. So all you can do is wait.It was now about two weeks after the football game. I got bored and curious, and looked at their casino tab. I played their slot machine, made a small wager, and I won. I spun the reels again and won big, this time, $100. Wow, I thought. I ended up winning $600 very easily on top of the football game winnings. This was now $900 on top of the initial $200 deposited. I requested another withdrawal by their debit card method.Days past, then they said the B&W photo of my identification I already sent, needed to be in color. I scanned it in B&W for safety purposes, even though doing that was already far too much for me, in this day of identity theft.The next attempt, they messaged that their printable pdf form with text entry, had to be hand-written, not using pdf entry text like I had done. Despite all this, I was patient and did what they said, but growing increasingly more frustated. They were asking for unnecessary demands. This may have been certain individual employees and not "the company" per se, but it says a great deal about how they operate.Regretably, as readers will cringe, after a few days, I complied, despite the absurd request, after already sending personal information and a color copy of ID. I decided for a moment to give up, and had other matters to deal with.Weeks later, I got a letter.I was addressed from the IRS.They were reporting to me that they had detected a fradulent attempt to gain access to tax records and account, and a failed attempt to access my security PIN.The IRS advised me, by referring to the FTC, to put freezes on my accounts, on credit applications, and take whatever steps necessary against identity theft, making changes to passwords, contacting all orgazinations with whom I had accounts.Obviously I gave up on getting my original money deposited back. As far as I know, they are not a legitimate operation anyway. The idea of getting the "winnings" is forgotten, merely adding to the pile of stupidity and regret.If recreational gambling is appealing to you, do it with software that does not involve money. It might be dull and silly, but one might find out that it's not really "fun" to begin with. Imagine how stupid slot machines, as a game is, when no money is involved--it is mind-numbingly stupid.
