If shipping from Canada there are forms that come into play at the 2k mark, in almost all there are documents required if what you are shipping isn’t documents itself. After perusal, HSN of goods are assigned along with applicable customs duty i.e. BCD, IGST and SWS leviable in case of import or incentives in case of export. Other compliance requirements vary products and are explained to the person in advance. A check list is generated by CHA and forwarded to the person before he starts moving ahead. Once the goods reach the port of discharge in India; CHA file a document bill of entry with Customs department after paying applicable duty and present goods for examination by the customs for grant of clearance. After clearance, the goods are transported to the buyer.If you have ordered a product online or likewise; it is very likely that you have to get it cleared if your freight forwarder like DHL, FEDEX or Delhivery is unable to get it done.
