PDF Editor FAQ

Why don’t some languages have articles (like the English “the” or German “der”, “die”, “das” etc.)? Does that mean the languages that don't have articles are less specific and less developed (expressive)? Is there research on this?

Why would you classify languages as more or less “developed” according to the existence of articles? If English is more developed judging by articles, what about, say, verb forms?First, English.I, you, we, you (pl.), they singhe/she/it singsI, you, he/she/it, we, you, they sangI am singingyou, we, you (pl.), they are singinghe/she/it is singingI, you, we, you (pl.), they have sunghe/she/it has sungI, you, he/she/it, we, you (pl.), they will singI, you, he/she/it, we, you (pl.), they will have sungI, he/she/it was singingyou, we, you (pl.), they were singingI, you, he/she/it, we, you (pl.), they had sungI, you, he/she/it, we, you (pl.), they will be singingI, you, we, you (pl.), they have been singinghe/she/it has been singingI, you, he/she/it, we, you (pl.), they had been singingI, you, he/she/it, we, you (pl.), they will have been singingsingsinginghaving sungPretty neat and concise. Now, let me present you the Finnish verb laulaa (‘to sing’):laulanlaulatlaulaalaulammelaulattelaulavatlauletaanlauloinlauloitlauloilauloimmelauloittelauloivatlaulettiinolen laulanutolet laulanuton laulanutolemme laulaneetolette laulaneetovat laulaneeton laulettuolin laulanutolit laulanutoli laulanutolimme laulaneetolitte laulaneetolivat laulaneetoli laulettulaulaisinlaulaisitlaulaisilaulaisimmelaulaisittelaulaisivatlaulettaisiinolisin laulanutolisit laulanutolisi laulanutolisimme laulaneetolisitte laulaneetolisivat laulaneetolisi laulettulaulanenlaulanetlaulaneelaulanemmelaulanettelaulanevatlaulettaneenlienen laulanutlienet laulanutlienee laulanutlienemme laulaneetlienette laulaneetlienevät laulaneetlienee laulettulaulalaulakoonlaulakaammelaulakaalaulakootlaulettakoonole laulanutolkoon laulanutolkaamme laulaneetolkaa laulaneetolkoot laulaneetolkoon laulettulaulaalaulaaksenilaulaaksesilaulaakseenlaulaaksemmelaulaaksennelaulaakseenlaulaenlaulaessanilaulaessasilaulaessaanlaulaessammelaulaessannelaulaessaanlaulettaessalaulamassalaulamastalaulamaanlaulamallalaulamattalaulamanlaulaminenlaulamistalaulamistanilaulamistasilaulamistaanlaulamistammelaulamistannelaulamaisillanilaulamaisillasilaulamaisillaanlaulamaisillammelaulamaisillannelaulavalaulavanlaulavaalaulavassalaulavastalaulavaanlaulavallalaulavaltalaulavallelaulavanalaulavaksilaulavattalaulavineenlaulavinlaulavatlaulavienlaulavialaulavissalaulavistalaulaviinlaulavillalaulaviltalaulavillelaulavinalaulaviksilaulavittalaulavinlaulanutlaulaneenlaulanuttalaulaneessalaulaneestalaulaneeseenlaulaneellalaulaneeltalaulaneellelaulaneenalaulaneeksilaulaneettalaulaneinelaulaneinlaulaneetlaulaneidenlaulaneitalaulaneissalaulaneistalaulaneisiinlaulaneillalaulaneiltalaulaneillelaulaneinalaulaneiksilaulaneittalaulamalaulamanlaulamaalaulamassalaulamastalaulamaanlaulamallalaulamaltalaulamallelaulamanalaulamaksilaulamattalaulaminelaulaminlaulamatlaulamienlaulamialaulamissalaulamistalaulamiinlaulamillalaulamiltalaulamillelaulaminalaulamiksilaulettavalaulettavanlaulettavaalaulettavassalaulettavastalaulettavaanlaulettavallalaulettavaltalaulettavallelaulettavanalaulettavaksilaulettavattalaulettavinelaulettavinelaulettavinlaulettavatlaulettavienlaulettavialaulettavissalaulettavistalaulettaviinlaulettavillalaulettaviltalaulettavillelaulettavinalaulettaviksilaulettavittalaulettavinelaulettulauletunlaulettualauletussalauletustalaulettuunlauletullalauletultalauletullelaulettunalauletuksilauletuttalaulettuinelauletuinlauletutlaulettujenlaulettujalauletuissalauletuistalaulettuihinlauletuillalauletuiltalauletuillelaulettuinalauletuiksilaulamatonlaulamattomanlaulamatontalaulamattomassalaulamattomastalaulamattomaanlaulamattomallalaulamattomaltalaulamattomallelaulamattomanalaulamattomaksilaulamattomattalaulamattominelaulamattominlaulamattomatlaulamattomienlaulamattomialaulamattomissalaulamattomistalaulamattomiinlaulamattomillalaulamattomiltalaulamattomillelaulamattominalaulamattomiksi(I left out the negative forms.)Finnish doesn’t have articles, that’s true.It does, however, have some other aces in its hand. Can you write 300 things about yourself?

Here we go…I started writing this answer at 8:30pm.I’m thirteen years old.I’m in middle school.I’m in 8th grade.I like all subjects, but I have a bias for English.I enjoy writing. My favorite color is purple.I’m lesbian.I thought I was bisexual from 4th grade to 7th grade, it took me a while to figure out.I had a college reading level when I was 8 years old. This caused me to be put in a gifted program. My new school doesn’t do this gifted program, however.I go to a public school. My average typing speed is 70 WPM when I’m really trying, but I’ve gotten to 96 WPM before.I like singing.I’m in my school choir.I feel insecure a lot of the time, although I don’t act like it.I have mild PTSD that is triggered by hearing someone (usually male) yelling, even if it is not directed at me. It can also be triggered by someone putting their hands too close to my face unexpectedly.I write songs.I write stories that I don’t finish most of the time.I write poems.I have a girlfriend. Her name is Claire.I met her on Quora. We’re a long distance relationship. We live 76 miles away.A few weeks ago, we met in real life. We’re going to meet up again soon.We might have a sleepover in a few months.I love my girlfriend (of course).I think the American school system is terrible.I’m pro-choice.I have a dog named Cici.I also have a hamster named Pepper.I have a lot of habits. These habits include biting my nails.I’m an extrovert.I’m pretty outgoing… most of the time.Like most Quorans, I get hate comments that I laugh at and then delete.I act like I don’t care about certain things. But I care. Deeply.I’m bored right now; that’s why I’m writing this answer.I started writing on Quora sometime in July of 2018.It’s difficult to offend me.I don’t cry often. As a baby, I never cried. At all.I can watch graphic videos (executions, injuries, etc) without feeling anything—it’s not that I enjoy them, per se, they just don’t make me feel any particular emotion, and I can sit through them with no problem. This is probably because I watched these things since I was quite young (9 years old). I’m desensitized to it now.I can sit still for a long period without doing anything.I’m left-handed.I draw sometimes, but I don’t think my art is very good.Sometimes I question my existence.Sometimes I draw a conclusion that nothing I do really matters, in the grand scheme of things.I’m not saddened by this, it’s just the truth. In a few hundred years, no one will remember me.It’s fine. It’s life.My teachers like me because I’m quiet. My friends like me because I’m friendly.Other people at school like me because I’m too much of a pushover to say no when they ask for things.I’m an atheist. My father is a Christian. My mother is a Buddhist.I never got into religion, although my father tried to force me into it.Most people at my school can’t tell what my ethnicity is.I’m half Asian, half European. My Asian side mostly consists of Thai, but I am 10% Chinese. My European side consists of German and Irish.Sometimes I feel smart.Sometimes I feel stupid.I like rabbits… a lot.My birthday is February 10th, 2006.My favorite season is winter. At the beginning of the school year, when I first moved, around four boys had a crush on me.No one at school openly has a crush on me now, as most of them know I have a girlfriend.I quickly adjusted to this new school.I like the school.Apart from a few students and most of the teachers, I like it.I still talk to all of my exes except for one (Rydia).A 6th grader at my old school got pregnant. The father was (allegedly) a high schooler.I never saw her again after that. A part of me thinks she’s immature and a part of me feels bad for her. Her parents must have been so angry with her…Sex education in America is absolutely terrible. (Adding on to how bad the school system is here)I have all A’s in my classes. This isn’t because my mom is super strict or anything—I just like keeping good grades.I don’t like mustard.I don’t like mayonnaise.I like spicy foods.I handle them quite well.I’ve always been very tolerant of pain in many forms, however.I’m 5′2″.I weigh around 105 pounds.I have a rectangular-shaped figure.I have brown hair.I have brown eyes.I wear contacts, as my vision is -3.75 in both eyes.I like playing video games.I like memes.I feel unwanted a lot of the time. It’s okay though.I have written 100 facts now.I’m wearing the hoodie my girlfriend gave to me.I’m wearing leggings because it’s cold.My personality type is ENFP-A.I will do anything to avoid conflict.Even if that means giving up some of my dignity.I’m allergic to peanuts.I almost died when I was 5 due to ingesting peanuts at a restaurant.Another near-death experience I’ve had was when I was around 4 years old.Robbers broke into our house with guns. They quickly escaped after hearing me call for my mother.I theorize that they did this because they thought the house was empty, or because they didn’t want to kill a four year old.I’m interested in learning about serial killers. I realize that this is a common thing for girls to say.I feel fine right now.As an atheist, I wonder what happens after death.Personally, I believe nothing happens. You just die.A part of me doesn’t want this to be true…But I just can’t bring myself to believe otherwise. My desk is messy at the moment.I’m staring a pen while I think of something better to write for this answer. There’s a Sephora ad on the side of the screen right now.Speaking of Sephora, I wear makeup.I think it’s fun.People always ask me why I wear makeup since they think I’m “prettier without it.”I just think it looks nice, and it covers up any insecurities on my face.People who don’t know me think I wear makeup “to get attention from boys.” I’ve been called a whore because of it.Which is…. obviously not true. I have a girlfriend and I could honestly care less about what boys think of me. Do you sincerely think I want to attract those hormone-filled beasts?Girls who put other girls down for wearing makeup are one of my least favorite kinds of people.I used to be one of these people.People are quick to judge.I try not to let it bother me, and most of the time it doesn’t.But a few comments slip through and I start feeling insecure all over again.A lot of older adults on Quora comment on my answers with the most pretentious things, thinking that they’re actually making a difference in how I will live my life.Nowhere did I ask for your damn opinion, Barbara. When you were my age, you didn’t have any type of awareness about the world.I do. And I think that’s something to be proud of.There are some boys at my school that I absolutely despise. If only the Purge was a real thing.I’m kidding.Kind of.Some people are going to comment something stupid about those last four facts, I just know it. “mUrdEriNg sOmEoNe iSn’T sOmeThinG yOU joKe aBoUt—” shut up.My hands are really small. My girlfriend is a year younger than me and she still has bigger hands than me.I feel like this answer isn’t going to get that many upvotes. It’s okay, though.I just need something to do.I use humor as a coping mechanism. My favorite ice cream flavor is mint chocolate chip.I really want ice cream right now.But I must finish this answer. On Monday I have to go back to school.I’m kind of looking forward to it, I guess.I just want to see my friends again. In choir, I’m one of the soloists. It’s fun. It’s fun until I get a voice crack, that is.I’m also in my school’s Drama Club.I’m a theater kid.I have three featured parts for our upcoming show.I’m a bit worried about that, honestly.I’m bad at dancing.I’ve been told I’m pretty good at singing, though.I can impersonate an anime girl. It’d be fun to be a voice actor. When I’m older, I want to be a nurse, and my girlfriend is going to be a therapist.I’m going to heal people physically, and she’s going to heal people mentally.Aren’t we such a power couple? My girlfriend and I have been dating for 4 months now. We’ve known each other for 8 months.A few weeks before my girlfriend and I started dating, I could tell she was the one.Something about her just drew me to her.I could tell she felt the same way.I feel as though we were meant for each other, as if everything in our lives had led up to that moment. My favorite kinds of donuts are the jelly filled ones and the chocolate ones with cream inside.I should probably eat something. It’s 9:35pm right now and I haven’t eaten since around noon.I skip a lot of meals.I can easily go a few days without eating.I can also eat a lot of food without gaining any weight.Yay, genetics.I always wonder if aliens exist. There has to be something out there, right? We can’t be the only ones in this universe…I wish there was a way to find out.Maybe one day humans will, but right now… no.It saddens me that I won’t be able to see a lot of things in my lifetime.Humans don’t live long…I want to hug my dog right now.I don’t know where she is.I’ve bitten my nails so much throughout writing this answer.I think they’re bleeding. This happens a lot, I’m used to it.There is some rock candy sitting on my desk. The colors are white, blue, and green.I’ll eat them later.I should eat something.I always morbidly wonder what Medieval torture must have felt like.So many painful deaths…I wonder how many of them had children that never got to see them again.I used to get a lot of nightmares when I was a kid.I don’t get them as often now.I kind of feel like I’m going to pass out for some reason. My head hurts. My shoulders hurt.I’m getting a new laptop for Christmas, yay. It’s a super high-end one, too, so I can finally do stuff without it lagging!I love my dog and hamster. My hamster has escaped at least 4 times. We found her every time. She’s not going to escape again, we reinforced the cage.My dog is currently wearing a jacket to keep her warm.I’m participating in a spelling bee soon.I hope I do well.Every time I was quizzed on the words, I got them right.Any time I think of a spelling bee, my mind always wanders to that Vine of the kid saying, “Iridocyclitis” with a dead look in his eyes.IRIDOCYCLITISYes, I cheated for those last facts. What are you going to do about it?Why am I doing this?I feel as though I am slowly going insane.I’m in an odd mood.GachaLife videos are so weird. The titles are incredibly messed up, they’re always like, “FOUR YEAR OLD FALLS IN LOVE WITH 90 YEAR OLD MAN!!! SHOCKING MUST WATCH!”Or, more realistically, I’ve seen titles such as, “GAY TWINS - THE INCESTUOUS ROMANCE.”Keep in mind, it’s always children writing and making these. There are some popular Quorans that I don’t like. It’s not that I’ve gotten into an argument with any of them, I just don’t like them. And that’s okay! You don’t have to like everyone or everything that is popular. As long as you’re not constantly trashing and talking down on that thing or person, it’s perfectly fine.Guys at school always ask me how I’m going to have sex with my girlfriend.None ya beeswax, dude.~WHAT IS LOVE? BABY DON’T HURT ME~I’m going to go eat now. It is 9:54pm. I shall be back.I have returned from the depths of hell. It is 10:09pm.What did I eat, you ask?heheyour momUnpopular opinion: I actually like Billie Eilish. She’s pretty and I like her voice because of how soft and calming it is.Another (fairly) unpopular opinion: I like k-pop.I can already smell the “EWWWWW BILLIE EILISH AND K-POP SUCK!!!!1!!! comments. Just.. shush. No one cares about your opinion, Becky.People who constantly judge other people’s music tastes are the worst. You listening to 80’s rock doesn’t make you better than someone who enjoys, say, K-pop. You just have a different taste. And if you think liking a certain thing makes you better than someone, then, kindly go perform intercourse with yourself.I get many creepy messages from older men. They attempt to justify it by saying I look older than thirteen, which is… gross. They completely disregard the fact that I’m lesbian and have a girlfriend, as well.AH LOOK! A creepy old man is texting me again on Instagram. It was a phone emoji and “I miss you.”I don’t miss you. Not at all.I don’t even know you. There are also guys my age who thinks it’s appropriate to send dick pics to me.What do they think I’m going to say?“Oh, well, isn’t this a doozy! Your tiny, std-infested penis has turned me straight and I no longer crave for women! Yes, you sir, this picture has changed me. I cannot believe I have been brainwashed into believing I like girls!”That was sarcasm in case you couldn’t pick that up.I don’t trust people who don’t understand sarcasm.I use sarcasm a lot.I like to eat ice.Ice is fun to crunch on when you have nothing better to do.I like doing face masks.I’m obsessed with skincare. That’s how I get my skin to be so clear.fiNnA dRoP mY sKiNcARE rOuTinE iF yOu dRoP aN uPvoTeIs anyone even reading this?Have you made it this far? This isn’t fun for me, either, you know.Just make it to the end, you wuss.Almost there.I’m always paranoid at nighttime.I’m not sure why.Something about being alone is scary to me.Are you alone right now? Yes?Are you sure?Because you’re not alone. There are billions of microscopic bugs on your body at this very moment.A lot of them are probably having sex right now. You’re never alone.I love horror games and horror movies.Horror is my favorite genre.Because gore.I kind of need to pee but I’m going to wait until this answer is finished. It’s 10:35pm right now.My blood type is B+.8.5% of people have that blood type.If you comment your blood type and brag that yours is rarer I will defenestrate you.I really need to pee.I just need to get this answer over.I just realized I didn’t get to say goodnight to my girlfriend :(I’m sad now :(ahhhhhhAlmost done…AHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHOOOF300 FACTS BABY! I finished at 10:41pm.
